60 of 164 · most liked firstI think my favorite Gene Hackman film is Unforgiven, but he was so good in so many, and such varied, roles. Crimson Tide, The Conversation / Enemy of the State, The French Connection, Hoosiers, The Birdcage, … One of his movies I haven’t seen highlighted is Get Shorty; he was fantastic in it. RIP.
neutral · AI labelView post →Today I have a guest post from a guy whose grandparents were close friends of Gene Hackman's from childhood. Hackman stayed at their house while filming Hoosiers. It's a great story! And CoC subscribers figured out the actor Hackman hated working with! www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...
neutral · AI labelView post →Hey, this is last second, but we're recording a podcast about the movie Hoosiers a little later. If you have any questions/observations that drop into your head, we'll try to address them here. Sorry, late on making this available! docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1F...
neutral · AI labelView post →RIP Gene Hackman (Pictured: The Quick And The Dead) What an actor. The Conversation, The Royal Tenenbaums, The French Connection, Unforgiven, The Birdcage, Hoosiers, Crimson Tide… and the first film I ever saw him in, Superman. He’ll always be my Lex Luthor. See you in Otisburg, sir. 🫡

neutral · AI labelView post →After watching Hoosiers, we turned to the movie channel just in time to see the Little 500 race scene from Breaking Away. It's an all-Indiana sports movie night at the Stately Manor.
neutral · AI labelView post →There are worse actors to do a movie marathon of than Gene Hackman. In the last week I've watched: Get Shorty The Birdcage The Firm Hoosiers* The Runaway Jury Mississippi Burning* Postcards from the Edge No Way Out The Package* and now Crimson Tide (* indicates first viewing)
neutral · AI labelView post →Tell me you've never seen the documentary film Hoosiers without telling me...
neutral · AI labelView post →The good faith, non-snarky answer to this is found in the movie Hoosiers.
neutral · AI labelView post →“Hoosiers” is not a good movie but it’s the rare film that understands the inherent romance of a muddy, mossy, dull grey Midwestern spring
neutral · AI labelView post →The 9 year old is watching Hoosiers, a movie about Indiana in 1951, and he sees an old car turning and says, "they didn't have blinkers in the 1980s?"
neutral · AI labelView post →Only been playing them for a few days, but safe to say this was best ever round of 32 World Cup game. Instant classic. Movie someday coming to theatre near you. Hoosiers, you’ve got company.

neutral · AI labelView post →it was dad/daughter movie night and i wanted to sell her on Victory, a 1981 soccer movie featuring Caine, Von Sydow and Pele. ME: remember how much you liked the end of Hoosiers? HER: …yes ME: imagine if instead of basketball, it was soccer, and instead of playing a HS team it was Nazis. HER: YES
neutral · AI labelView post →1) Maybe just because it's the first one I remember - No Way Out in which he plays a corrupt Sec Def. But that's really Costner's movie. 2) It's not Hoosiers. Overrated, and yw. 3) Soup, bread and wine. Keeping it simple. #hatm
negative · AI labelView post →This IU football team is just like the high school in Hoosiers, in that the inspiration of the film (Milan HS) had bagmen
neutral · AI labelView post →My feelings on Rocky: -movie has some good bits, but is ultimately a bit racist, like the Hoosiers of Philadelphia -there are so many wonderful things about Philly that it pisses me off Rocky is a thing people even think about -every time you go to the art museum there are tourists who aren't...
neutral · AI labelView post →Hoosiers is just not getting the love. Granted he is my favorite actor, so I will be upset with most lists because some film that is amazing is left off.
neutral · AI labelView post →Gene Hackman’s finest role in my opinion was Hoosiers. No coincidence it’s also the best film made about hoops. Rip Legend 🙏🏻
positive · AI labelView post →I've seen 11 Gene Hackman movies: The French Connection, The Poseidon Adventure, The Conversation, Young Frankenstein, Supermans I, II, & IV (I don't count the Donner cut of II as a separate movie but also saw that), Hoosiers, No Way Out, Another Woman, & The Royal Tenenbaums. 1/
neutral · AI labelView post →Bummed about Gene Hackman. Hoosiers is so incredible. The other Gene Hackman film we loved in high school and even watched the night before a game or two was Uncommon Valor! RIP to one of the true greats.
positive · AI labelView post →Hoosiers is an all time top 5 sports movie and I’ll die on that hill. RIP Gene
positive · AI labelView post →"Hoosiers" is a good film btw. An under-appreciated pair of performances Gene Hackman and Barbara Hershey

neutral · AI labelView post →1. Very possibly Heist. Hackman was great in everything but this is one of the few where he’s the lead protagonist. And it’s a smart film. 2. Never actually seen Hoosiers. 3. Egg salad sandwich, salt and vinegar potato chips, a pickle, and a martini.
neutral · AI labelView post →If you could choose a film score to follow you around all day, what would it be? 🎼 For me… Hoosiers (1986) composed by the legendary film composer Jerry Goldsmith youtu.be/r74qegjbF28?...

neutral · AI labelView post →Mrs. C and I re-watched Hoosiers as part of our informal #Hackman Film Festival. I am obligated to point out possibly the only movie scene I know of that features Osage-orange trees....
positive · AI labelView post →RIP Gene Hackman. “Hoosiers” is a film that stands the test of time.
positive · AI labelView post →Hoosiers sucks. Breaking Away is a vastly superior movie about hoosiers.
negative · AI labelView post →1. Straight male film historians can be an almighty pain in the rear. 2. So, apparently, are Hoosiers who are desperate for cultural relevance. I now mock Indiana whenever and wherever possible.
neutral · AI labelView post →Hoosiers had to call the team in their namesake film the Huskers because of their own inadequacies.
neutral · AI labelView post →Ok, I’ll play: fav film from each year of the 1980s: 1980- Airplane! 1981 - Stripes 1982 - Blade Runner 1983 - a Christmas Story 1984 - This is Spinal Tap 1985 - Better Off Dead 1986 - Hoosiers 1987 - The Untouchables 1988 - Die Hard 1989 - Do the Right Thing NOT an assertion of *best* films
positive · AI labelView post →Great movie. This, Rudy, Hoosiers. Remember the Titans, and Field of Dreams are my favorite sports movies. I know, who cares. 🤷♀️
positive · AI labelView post →Yes, we all enjoyed the movie Hoosiers
positive · AI labelView post →I was an extra in high school. I never watched the movie, so I couldn’t say for sure. Could have been in Hoosiers, but I’d have had to get a buzz cut.
neutral · AI labelView post →Now that March Madness has come to a close we thought it would be fun to break down one of the best basketball movies of all time, Hoosiers. We brought in an Indiana native, Luke Pierce, to give his takes on this iconic film. It’s out wherever you listen to podcasts! #Hoosiers
neutral · AI labelView post →Hoosiers, the movie, is on PBS. It's in my top 5 favorite movies of all time. In part due to this film, I wanted a boy and for his team to hang out at our home, and I could mother them all. And that dream came true. Plus, I love Gene Hackman in this film.
positive · AI labelView post →Up 41 points and Hoosiers on sideline looking at plays and film, getting coached up with 4 minutes left in this ass whooping. Canes won't stand a chance. They could barely beat, checks notes, Ole Miss.?.

neutral · AI labelView post →pretty sure it's from the 1986 film Hoosiers, staring Gene Hackman
neutral · AI labelView post →Thinking about the Hoosiers again. Lighting the candle circle for good film study and no more injuries. I did wind up buying the Homefield Rose Bowl jacket. I just wish it was showing up sometime before March or whatever.
neutral · AI labelView post →Someone is showing Hoosiers tonight. Is that being broadcasted for all the people who love basketball, but only if it is in a movie? Because there is lots of actual basketball on right now! 😂
neutral · AI labelView post →Forget Hoosiers and Rudy, Breaking Away is the best Indiana-based sports movie
negative · AI labelView post →Hoosiers (86): Imprinted on my bones as a basketball player from Indiana, but the film on this watch shocked me with how beautiful the photography is. The underdog sports beats are VERY familiar, but Hackman’s tightly wound Everyman is cranky enough to cut through. That score still cranks! B

neutral · AI labelView post →Hoosiers, but let's just have them trash Indiana the entire movie this time
neutral · AI labelView post →Hoosiers. PG-13 film a friend went to for his 7th birthday party. I don’t remember clocking anything inappropriate, I just remember it feeling like a business meeting with a bit of basketball near the end

negative · AI labelView post →Finally, the thoughtful & poignant classic basketball movie I've been waiting for. Move over Hoosiers & Hoop Dreams.
neutral · AI labelView post →#OTD in 1954, Bobby Plump hit the winning shot to complete the "Milan Miracle." Milan had an enrollment of 161 students, and their storied run to the Indiana basketball championship is the basis of the movie "Hoosiers." www.youtube.com/watch?v=wTgY...
