The shooting feels rough, the story and dialogue rarely stand out and the mission design starts repeating itself much sooner than it should. It never really feels like the polished AAA shooter it was supposed to be. But while playing I kept running into moments where it still worked surprisingly well. Sneaking through ruined neighborhoods, sabotaging patrols and slowly pushing the occupation out of districts actually creates a pretty…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'll be so real I only bought this because there's a secret PC port of TimeSplitters 2 in this thanks to one dev but I wanted to give the game itself a fair shot; So, let me start by saying the game LOOKS good. That's all I'll give it. The graphics are decent. Other than that? It ain't really got much going for it. It's this generic 'war' sorta game. Alternate-Timeline America has been enslaved by a technologically-superior North Korea or 'The Norks' as the characters refer to them. Your main…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth picking up on sale just to have a PC port of TimeSplitters 2. The game it comes with is... Fine, I guess.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homefront: The Dissapointment Let's get this out of the way immediately. I cannot in good conscience recommend this game regardless of how much you pick it up for. It's not worth $5, because it's just not fun. It took me roughly 20 hours to beat the main story and honestly I didn't enjoy it. If I could refund after that time I would, but alas you'll just have to learn from my mistakes. The game isn't *bad* per-say, it's just seriously NOT fun. Clunky, tired, overused story elements meshed with…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth it for the fantastic Timesplitters 2 port. Literally nothing else.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is on sale for $3 and you get 2 games in one. Not sure about the main game but TimeSplitters 2 is totally worth it. Look up TS2 Redux on Github. It's a mod that allows to launch directly and play TimeSplitters 2 in it's entirety with native keyboard and mouse controls. The only gripe I have with the mod is it doesn't save your game progression though which kinda sucks but it's still fun to play through the levels as you remember them on PS2,Xbox,GameCube.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really good Far Cry-like that's arguably better than Far Cry 6. I don't get the mixed reviews. Gunplay is good and music and sfx are really good too. One of the few FPS games in which the gunshots are actually loud. The urban setting leads to astounding set pieces. I don't know what y'all are complaining about. "Stiff gunplay"? Is that what we call "no aim assist" nowadays?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, did I buy this game because of Homefront... or did I buy this because PC port of TimeSplitters 2 hidden within it's files? You figure it out :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First playthrough review time. Homefront: The Revolution has a strong setting and the city design still holds up well even today. Lighting, destruction effects, and weapon details are done with good attention for a 2016 game. Shooting is one of the better parts, especially during larger fights where enemies attack from different directions. The game focuses on moving through areas, fighting enemy groups, and taking control of zones across the map. Movement around the map is simple. After some…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically all this game is at this point is just the TimeSplitters 2 PC port. I don't even know what the actual Homefront: The Revolution game is like lol
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright enough Farcry style open word game with some pretty fun weapons, but it has TimeSplitters 2 in the arcade for some reason and that game really ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rocks.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Underrated game. Not gonna pretend I experienced this at launch, but there's a lot of things to adore in this FPS despite it being ye olde Ubisoft checklist game. Cryengine pretty much enabled the devs to take you to vertically expansive, mini-open areas where you can cause the usual ubi activities (camps, of course!) with the main objective of taking over districts, with some 'radiant' side stuff and collecathon in between. The maps, however "small" they may seem to your average open world,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So far, so good. I actually got this many years ago and tried it out, but didn't get more than a couple hours in before dropping it, because both the story and gameplay felt boring and uninspired. I decided to give it another try recently. Given the state of the world currently, both the premise and atmosphere feel much more relevant than before. (Not to mention it's set in 2025-2027, which was 9 years in the future at the time of this game's release!) What you're getting as far as gameplay is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Genuinely underrated. I’ll admit that the storyline is fairly short and the mechanics aren’t perfect, but the story itself is actually well thought out, and many of the gameplay elements are interesting and engaging. Even if you don’t feel like a super-soldier, that doesn’t mean the game isn’t fun. The developers did a solid job of making the experience enjoyable without relying on power trips, and the mechanics make you feel like a revolutionary rather than someone who can just walk into an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A flawed game that gets repetitive towards the end, but a fun one regardless. It has unique ideas with the on-the-fly weapon modification and liberation system, but the story falls flat at times. Morally gray and straight up bad ideas are told to Brady, the player character, but he's a silent protagonist who simply follows orders and doesn't comment on them. Buy it on sale. Bonus: The entirety of TImesplitters 2 is included in the game files. Use a mod to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What I liked: 1. The gunplay and its interesting weapon-switching mechanic and customization, almost perfect for me 2. The maps can be interestingly dynamic the more you liberate or mess with the enemy 3. You can recruit random resistance as companions to help you attack enemies 4. At least this game has motorcycle in some bigger maps, which makes exploring easier 5. The hack device is the most useful equipment in this game, it can be used to mess and kill the enemy What I didn’t like: 1. Not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game stays true to its core. Its in an alternate timeline where Americas technology shrank and became obsolete in regards to the new Korean regime - a sort of a domino effect just like the Soviet Union in our time, only that Korean technology grew as the nation became united, and developed it's own version of todays "Silicon Valley". The game revolves around you trying to help resistance retake key control points in Philadelphia - what is truly unique in this game is how it blends a view of how…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The American S.T.A.L.K.E.R with elements of Far Cry, married with what is basically the best tribute to Terminator besides the actual Terminator games. All thrown together with Metro, by Metro's publishers. As if that wasn't enough, it is built on the crytech engine, an engine whose light-engineer cut his teeth on super-modding gold source for the Russian Paranoia mod, which became the blueprint for STALKER and Metro. And of course, those who loved the last third of Half Life 2, this game was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →usually, revolutions do not end well. so, in that sense, they did it right.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →6/7/2026 (haha funny number) Homefront: the Revolution is a reboot to the Homefront series, by Dambuster Studios, who are composed of what used to be FreeRadical, AKA The Timesplitters Devs and also worked on Dead Island 2 after it was in development hell. Originally, the game was to be set a followup called Homefront 2. After the developer of the original game was shut down in 2011, THQ contacted Crytek UK to work on the sequel, only for THQ themselves to go under about two years later. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game just to play Time Splitters 2 but it even sucks at launching that
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is probably the most horrendously optimised game I have played in ages, framerates drop from 165 to 30 at random, it's a coin flip how the fps will be when you look at certain directions
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't go in expecting anything amazing, but it's good for what it is. It's obvious that a lot of love and care went into it and there's an attention to detail you don't often see in these types of games. Plays like an urban Far Cry in a dystopian setting. Overall decent experience. And yeah, there's Timesplitters 2.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was under the impression that this was pretty low quality, but I caught it on sale for not even five bucks, so I figured why not. I was very wrong. It feels like Far Cry 5/6, but a bit grittier. There is constant combat going on between guerilla forces and the KPA (hostiles) which makes the world feel very alive. Between that and how bleak and torn down the city is, the game does a GREAT job of demonstrating a massive rebellion against an occupying force in a way that the more recent Far Cry…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don't understand the hate. This game is actually really pretty good. Perfect? No. but I've easily gotten enough value for it, and I've honestly enjoyed it thus far. I'm near the end after 11 hours, And considering that I only paid $2.99 for the base game? I'll say I got my money's worth. The story is pretty good, it's basic, if you've played Farcry, you'll likely enjoy this. Stealth is okay, the progression, while open world is still relatively linear, but it's open enough to keep you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I primarily bought this for Timesplitters 2 but played the actual game out of a morbid curiosity, as I did enjoy the first one but had only heard unfavourable stuff about this one. This game is proof that not everything needs to be open world, as this game just felt bloated as a result of it, despite being rather short for an open world title. The content was not interesting (the side content being even less interesting made it worse that there was main story missions that force you to do side…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homefront: The Revolution is an open-world FPS developed by Dambuster Studios and released in 2016. It is the second game in the franchise, but not a direct sequel. "Happiness In Slavery" After the economic collapse of the United States in 2025, North Korea, now a technological superpower thanks to the APEX corporation, invades and occupies the country under the pretext of "humanitarian aid." In reality, it colonizes the USA, exploits its resources, and violently represses any form of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even years after release the game is still a buggy mess. Don't buy unless you REALLY have nothing else to play and this is on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game. Very slept on and underrated. Somehow reminds me of the metro and stalker series in a way. Love the dynamic world, ambushes, and guerrilla warfare.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →surprisingly great! i enjoy playing this game. the aiming is quiet satisfying somehow like real shooting. the story is ironic :p p.s. i know korean so i can understand what the enemies are saying haha
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good base, but ultimately lacking, wouldn't buy if not on sale. If you'd ask me to describe Homefront: The Revolution with a sentence, I'd say this is a "jack of all trades, master of none" type of game. It's a mishmash of mechanics, some good, some half baked, wrapped up in good looking design. After 2-3 hrs you pretty much see all that the game has to offer, after that it's just repetitive actions to progress a quite forgettable storyline. Makes you realise just how shallow the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me say right away: I'm a fan of the first game, and if you're the same, the second game will be a disappointment. The combat is more boring, the characters are less engaging, and the story itself isn't quite as good as the first game. Graphically, the game isn't much better either. While I'd happily replay the first game again, even one playthrough of this one was more than enough for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If it's on sale, it's not a bad game. Simple story, simple gamelpay, but it is dumb fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As others have noted, this is a very frustrating game with the minimal checkpoints and such. Not putting in manual saves makes it needlessly difficult. There also doesn't appear to be any mods to allow manual saves and having to start over to a check point from last October is aggravating. Yes I can allegedly save at ammo lockers, but this doesn't address losing so much progress every time I die. I don't mind difficult games, I get tired of needless repetition.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a HUGE letdown. For starters, it's buggy as all hell. From graphical gltiches to LOD where, if I see an enemy and take cover behind a box, the LOD will cull him and so when I look back around the box, he's actually completely despawned. Enemies and friendlies (and enemy EVENT ENCOUNTERS) spawn literally within the range of your minimap (often, literally a few feet next to me), and the whole world feels fake and dead as a result. Loot respawns infinitely. The story is AWFUL. The…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not sure about the rest of the game but I really like Timesplitters 2.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Despite the recent reviews being Mostly Positive, I honestly don't understand the praise. The game follows a Far Cry-style formula with a linear story spread across small open areas that don't feel alive at all, but the activities become repetitive very quickly. The story itself isn't actually that bad, but it's nowhere near good enough to carry the rest of the experience. Even after all these years, I still ran into plenty of bugs that pulled me out of the game. Performance is another major…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I know what you're probably thinking. An fps centered around urban guerilla warfare in which you try to liberate the city from a much stronger enemy? That has to at least have some charm to it even if it isn't perfect, right? This is not that kind of game. - Enemies are complete pushovers, they only really pose a threat because they respawn indefinitely until you run away and hide. It never feels like you're the ill equipped guerilla doing whatever he can to take down the trained, well funded…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, the first Homefront was better in many ways, but this one is good too. However, there are some stupid missions where you think for two hours and still don't know where to go. This is a huge problem; this is a war game, not a puzzle and zombie game. At times and in certain places, the game reminded me of the dying light series. Overall, the game is good, but it could have been better, even in terms of the story. Some changes at the end would have made it more satisfying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm still down for someone to try and make a Homefront 2. Genuine Review: Get it on sale if you want a quick zoomer shooter that doesn't really know what it is. Is it far cry? CoD? A hipster fanfic? It seemed like everyone got to pitch their idea in at the office. Buy the first Homefront and keep and eye open for community multiplayer events if you want the Homefront experience.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably a better America than the one we live in now
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Get it while it's like $2 and then have a decently lengthy experience with a weirdly paced plot, empty characters, little no real story based narrative, BUT.... -A lot of fun game mechanics like RV hack devices/explosives -The weapon customization is very cool in the way you have 3 main class slots and each gun has 3 variants. - BIG HITTER The graphics (especially within buildings and ambient spaces) are IMACULATE (barring again all the lifeless NPCs) For 2016 this game really…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game for a very short time so far and it was a not so fun time spent. the gun play is meh, the enemy spawns are unlimited which is fine for the most part. The enemy spawn out of thin air, look away from them and they vanish. Empty street, look away and back, like Criss Angel they are suddenly there. This game is a disappointment, it has such a nice idea but not well delivered.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game I would highly recommend for anyone that loves the constitution.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →they really decided to make a game bout running back and forth and liberating locations like it's farcry 3
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm reviewing this game with the expansion pass included. First, off I hadn't made enough research before buying this game, having expected a sequel to the original Homefront, which was a flawed, but an alright game, I found a kind of "reimagining" or "reboot" instead. The original wasn't much to write home about, but it made for an ok first attempt. It was needlessly difficult sometimes, despite its short campaign, but it had a lot of imagery which other games lacked at that time.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend this game, if you like Farcry. It is quality looter-shooter. Some things are made in hurry. + Farcry like game + Good quality post-apocalyptic towns + Good shooting experience + Cryengine still good after 9 years - Story many times cannot be skipped - Story and npc are poor and bad written Part 3 can be good game, if would be invested more time and budget. Thanks developers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a fan. I feel like its a really good concept but poorly executed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not for me, sadly. I find it boring, bad scripted, and repetative. Furthermore the constant bugs and suddent spawning enemies are just too anoying to deal with.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was very promising when it was originally teased. However, three things I found problematic are that the game is very buggy, the engine is clunky and the gameplay gets repetitive quickly. Gunplay is pretty mediocre and the atmosphere is quite sterile. Yes, there's a lot to explore in this game. It's an innovative take on Homefront, with a completely new dynamic and resistance mechanic. However, it's no better than the first. The graphics are deceiving. Worth it on a fire sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →fun game, reminds me of Freedom fighter the nostalgia i felt playing was great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love it played it on ps4 when i was a kid and i enjoyed the story as much now that i'm somewhat of an adult the weapon system is still fairly novel and i cant remember seeing anything like it anywhere else though i'm not really much of an action shooter kind of gamer. the dlcs are mid but the main story was definitely worth a second playthrough
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game people just be hatin
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best Far Cry so far btw
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the original Homefront, was expecting good things from this game and usually I only care about mechanics and little about the story. The original game had a story I liked, but in this game I barely experienced mechanics before I got overwhelmed how stupid everyone is. Why US fell? Because they were too stupid to do strategic thinking 101. Why is revolution going slow before we join? Because they think that 4 people cell is large enough and them working on revolution stuff on open…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Homefront: The Revolution is a step up from the disappointment that was the first game. The open world is decent to explore, plus it allows different approaches to mission objectives (stealth, guerrilla tactics, head-on), making the game less linear. There's weapon customization and crafting, which added some variety to your arsenal. The main gameplay loop (zone liberation) is decent enough and makes you feel like a resistance fighter, and clearing districts is pretty satisfying even though it…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went into this game hoping for a gritty immersive open world resistance story but what I got instead felt unfinished frustrating and painfully repetitive The world looks like it wants to feel alive but most of the time it just feels empty and lifeless like a movie set after everyone went home and forgot to turn the lights off Missions quickly blur together into the same cycle of sneaking shooting dying and retrying not because it is challenging in a satisfying way but because the mechanics…

Then ive played the first game and i was blown away to be honest. I didnt expect it to be that well written. It kinda felt like Call of Duty when it was good and wasnt afraid to show brutal and gore enemy, the way the both games start it make my skincrawl. The first game is straight just like good old CoD and this one is more opened with parts of city u have to capture back. And dont even let me…
