Hi-Fi RUSH
Developer Tango Gameworks
Hi-Fi Rush is a 2023 rhythm-based action game developed by Tango Gameworks, originally published by Bethesda Softworks, and currently published by Krafton. The game's story follows self-proclaimed "future rock star" Chai (voiced by Robbie Daymond in English and Hiro Shimono in Japanese), whose music player is accidentally embedded in his chest during experimental cybernetic surgery funded by the corrupt Vandelay… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Right up there with DMC3/5 and Jet Set/Space Channel at the absolute peak of the genres. Just unbelievable. I gotta go back to it. I should just stream it on the hardest difficulty.

unlabelledView post →Microsoft is good at making bad decisions. This game and the dev team are S-tier. The gameplay is somewhat similar to Devil May Cry but it is also a rhythm game. The Steam achievements are no joke either. More importantly, the music is good and the characters are well-written. If there is one complaint I have, it is about Steam achievements: Why do I need to beat the game five times on each difficulty instead of completing it at the highest difficulty and automatically complete the lower…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In trying to justify the closure of Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks, Microsoft has admitted studios truly cannot win because success can't save them. I done did a video on it: youtu.be/ca36ChrdV6M
unlabelledView post →If aliens abduct you and ask what a video game is, show them HI-FI Rush. The passion that went into this game is insane, I find it incredible that it's not more popular. The style, the gameplay, the characters fit together perfectly. Despite this game being such a banger, Microsoft closed the studio. I secretly pray for Microsoft to go bankrupt in my lifetime.

This game constantly oozes charm, and creativity, and hearkens back to a golden age of gaming that welcomed original ideas and kept 'fun' at the forefront of game development. 9/10

unlabelledView post →An amazing, cheesy game. Plays great and the music is amazing. However, ♥♥♥♥ Krafton. Horrible studio. Probably only saved Tango Gameworks to improve their bran image. But they ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over Subnautica 2 and tried to use AI to win the lawsuit against Subnautica 2's devs. AI can NEVER even get CLOSE to human made art. I HIGHLY recommend the game, but the fact it will also line the pockets of such a horrible company is a downside.

unlabelledView post →From start to finish, this was an enjoyable smash hit. At the very start, the comic style artwork catches you, the clumbsy yet loveable Chai brings you right into the fold. The entire world vibrates with rhythm, visually and audibly, you're cued into the beat of the song for the stage. It's Devil May Cry but with rhythm. The combat is surprisingly deep as you progress, the story is creative but the gameplay is constantly keeping you on your toes as far as variety. Even when you pass through…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 63 hours and 100%-ing the game, I wanna give my take on this game so other people can go out and buy it. In-short, it is an amazing CAG/rhythm game with some of the best combat the genre has to offer, a distinct artstyle with insane attention to detail, all backed up alongside a banger ass soundtrack, with both great original tracks and including licensed music such as Nine Inch Nails. This is all coming from someone who considers themselves better than average at these games and enjoys…

It feels like a fever dream inside a Saturday morning cartoon the humor is great. The mechanics keep every level fresh, and aside from some "meh" platforming, it is a flawless masterpiece. 10/10. I am not interested in generative AI destroying beautiful things. And this is a warning shot from Krafton. They do not care about this game or it's characters. They just wanted to put their name on it like Trump or Elon. I will decidedly not get a sequel if it should be made under this generative AI slop nonsense and neither should you. Do not buy, seek…

unlabelledView post →Hi-Fi RUSH was a pleasant surprise. The rhythm-based combat is fun, smooth, and surprisingly addictive once you get into the flow. Syncing your attacks to the beat makes every fight feel satisfying, and the soundtrack keeps the energy high throughout the game. The colorful visuals, charming characters, and lighthearted story give the game plenty of personality. While a few sections feel a little repetitive, the overall experience stays fresh and entertaining. It's a polished action game…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A few years after Hi-Fi Rush took the scene by storm, as it was kept under wraps and then released on the same day it was announced, does it deserve the hype? Absolutely. The amazing cel-shaded graphics, which are also quite light on the hardware, are a textbook demonstration of how art direction stands over visual fidelity any day; they will still be great to look at 20 years from now. The sound doesn't disappoint either, important as it is for a game centered on music and rhythm, with a…
