But what makes this game stand out above the crowd is the stellar presentation, fluid and expressive animations, and genuinely funny characters and dialogue. Neat stuff.
unlabelledView post →Preface: If you don' enjoy fighting the first floor boss better refund the game. It's all the same down to the end. I guess this is what you get when you want to create a souls-like roguelite and mix Elden Ring, Dead Cells and Hades together. The game falls short unfortunately. Difficulty getting to the boss: 1/10 Bossfights: 12/10 There is just not much else to the game, few weapons, even less interactions between them. The floors are always the same, just some walls are being…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →♡ TLDR ♡ I'm really on the fence to recommend this or not... Its more complex than a yes or no. Its not a bad game, and while $25 for this 2023 title is not unreasonable... milage on this feels somewhat black and white. You may like it and be perfectly happy, or hate it and feel like you've wasted your money. I would strongly suggest waiting for a sale if you'd like to go for it. I played for a total of approx. 36 hours and overall, I cant say it was worth the squeeze. Its just a thing I did…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game #30 of 2025 Have A Nice Death This isn't something I'd usually play so I won't comment on it, as it seems a tad unfair when the main reason I didn't have fun was "I suck at it".
unlabelledView post →After 10 hours and about 30-40 runs I would give this a mixed review if it was possible. The movement and combat feels good. The premise of the game, the world and the characters are interesting and fun to interact with and explore. However the rest of the mechanics are major letdown to the point that you always feel like you just started the game with little to no progress. You can unlock bunch of new weapons but the drop rate for them is so low that you won't get to see or use most of…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love games like this including Hades and others so figured this would be an easy choice. I also liked the promise of something more grim. This game however is....TEDIOUS. There is no difference between the first 5-6 levels with what feels like the same layout for floors and enemies. The enemies are basic and offer no challenge or variety. The game ends up feeling like a chore and becomes voring very quckly. I really wanted to like this game and had wishlisted it for ages prior to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me preface by saying: roguelikes are my jam. I 100%ed Hades 2. This game is too artificially difficult, and not just for me. When I beat two MID-GAME bosses, I got a Steam achievement that showed an extremely low percentage of players beat those bosses. I'm curious how many people have actually completed a run because I'm 36 hours in and I still haven't. I keep playing because I love the music and the art.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's okay but the normal rooms are too easy, the bosses do too much damage, and the RNG is a little game warping, making this a really inconsistent game to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have A Nice Death is a fun game with very interesting humor. 😆
unlabelledView post →English Version (french below) : Ok so this game is nice, has very charming art direction, cool music and nice gameplay as well as plenty of nice combinations You could compare this game to dead cells with controls more similar to Hollow Knight. Ok now, I had some complaints with the game but had some trouble understanding exactly what the problem really was. Mainly, the game is hard as balls. And it's not just bosses, but mobs as well. But since I played a lot of similar games,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →WANT to love this game. It has so much going for it. Great art, characters, cool design. But it MASSIVELY suffers from artificial difficulty. Game feels great most of the floors then during boss fights you simply can’t see your character. I love a challenge, but most of my deaths are in the same fights that aren’t particularly challenging mechanically, but then you can’t see your player model and its BEHIND a damaging effect. You simply die because of a design choice to cover your character…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Listen...I received this game as a gift from someone pretty special. And I have to say, it really made my day. This genre is right up my alley, it's as if hollow knight and cult of the lamb had a baby and I'm here for it. The artstyle is so good and to top it all off, it's kind of relatable...I would recommend this game to anyone even remotely interested in this genre with my whole heart. So thank you, I'll cherish this experience and memory for a long time :))
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL;DR: Beautiful game that is insanely punishing, frustratingly so If style was all a game needed, this game would have it in spades. The muted color pallete works wonders for the bleak, corporate atmosphere. Every characters design is beautifully distinct with wonderful and adorable animations. The music fits the game very well with its range of elevator music, corpo-chill relaxation areas, and upbeat boss themes. The dialogue is charming and features pretty much every corpo-personality…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bosses are way too hard. Very unbalanced, ruins the whole game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want this game to be better, so badly, but there are no real options as far as meta progression outside unlocking weapons, which is another point of contention, as the more expensive unlocks often feel less powerful than some base items. the gameplay itself is fine, but it suffers from the atomic thrown issue where they give you a health bar, but dieing often happens in what feels like less than a second so there's no options besides avoiding damage all together...which would be fine if they…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What an incredible indie game. Have a Nice Death really surprised me, just like when I played Hollow Knight for the first time. I’m not usually a fan of 2D games, nor am I a big indie enthusiast, but Hollow Knight helped me become more open-minded about this type of game—and Have a Nice Death is extremely addictive. It offers a great variety of powers and attacks, beautiful graphics, and very vibrant colors. I truly loved this game and would recommend it even to people who don’t usually enjoy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game feels really repetitive; you kind of get sick of it after a while. But it's good in other ways; gameplay is solid, and there are very cool soundtracks. But I guess it's my fault for playing Hollow Knight & Silksong right before I played this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You ever play a game with such a mixed to negative reception yet you have no issue with it Look. Do I think this game is for everyone?? no. Do I think this game is even particularly accessible to a wide audience??? no, even more so because of why I personally adore this game, but this isn't loving a deeply flawed game, I think this game is incredibly solid. Art and Sound Getting down to brass tacks, this game is drop dead gorgeous, its as up my alley as you can get being as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The look and animation in the Have a Nice Death game is so good<3
unlabelledView post →I really enjoy it's atmosphere and art-style. It's premise and theme feels especially pertinent to what has been the common western 'work culture' for the last few decades. However the combat in this game feels incredibly basic; there doesn't appear to be much in the way of combos beyond mashing X with the occasional Y or B, and from what I've seen the weapons you unlock don't improve on this. Many of the upgrades you find as you progress in your run don't feel very impactful. Then just reading…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →+ Beautiful animation A pleasant combat system - Nothing new in the genre Weak plot Primitive level design An unpleasant gray filter 8/10 Strong and good Roguelike Unfortunately, the game doesn't bring anything new. And the levels are very primitive and without secrets. Anyway, the game is focused more on boss battles than on exploring levels. But if you like the genre and you don't expect anything new, then it's definitely worth buying!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is very difficult, but in a satisfying way. I got SO much better at the game than I was when I first started, feeling like it was almost impossible to get through. Now the first difficulty is a cake walk. A huge key in roguelikes is having powerful items and this game has them in spades. There are tons of items that make you feel quite overpowered without being genuinely broken. There's also a lot of complexity to the items in game. There's different scythes, then there's spells, then…

unlabelledView post →The usual rogue-like game that you have to repeatedly finish over and over and slowly open permanent upgrades that help you throughout the game, but this one is surprisingly very good. The art style is so cute and spooky, and the gameplay is really fast. A decent game if you are interested in this genre of games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the graphics and the idea of the premise of the story... But there is no progression over runs to make the character stronger, which means you're stuck doing the same runs again and again with very little progress, and the UX is extremely confusing, I still don't understand what half the things are for. A shame, because I would've loved to see more of the story, but it gets too boring real fast.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fluid, charming and outright beautiful game, but with flaws Have a Nice Death is a good game at it's core with movement so precise you can use KBM even as a controller player, art rivaling Hollow Knight, and fun, balanced weapons that are all usable. It does have it's flaws, Minor bugs, no explanation for a lot of it's systems, a steep difficulty curve and too little variation in it's enemies. Along with this, I don't care to read the dialogue at all. I prefer the art over the writing,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great aesthetics and gameplay, but difficulty scaling isn't the greatest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was disappointed in this game. I do like some of the direction but outside of that I simply didn’t have fun. I love rogelikes but this was just to repetitive in a not fun way personally. The characters populating the world feel rather empty/hallow, I only liked Pump, everyone else I couldn’t find a reason to care about them. I have yet to feel exhilarated yet playing this game, the general combat is ok (I liked the animations), however I was stuck going through different combinations of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Y'all have NO IDEA how much I love the fuck out of video games where playable characters have a scythe. When my mom gave me her PSP, the 1st game I bought for it was Death Jr. Then I got games like Have a Nice Death (Thank you @abortresspsx.bsky.social) & Pumpkin Jack on my Switch

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love to play it casually.Very satisfying combat and encounters, And the bosses
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Original review: This is everything I wanted the Death Jr series to be growing up. New review: Getting to the initial final boss is great so I still recommend it, but I think I made a huge mistake trying to beat the true final boss for the first time on B1 difficulty. If you're trying to complete the game, don't do this! There may have been unlocks I didn't have yet from beating the true final boss once before the additional difficulty that made my experience a slog with the additional boss…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is really difficult, but is really fun, the difficulty isn't so high that it feels unfair, but it's not so easy that every area is a cakewalk. This game makes me acually think about what im going to do next. The character interractions also help make Death inc feel like an actual company, and the different diolouges from the sorrows each run make re-fighting them get old slower than just playing the animations without any diolouge. the frenzy and charged attacks are both great ways to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the atmosphere and genral "vibe" of the game, the dialogue is fun, especially death/grimm reapers dry humor The combat also feels snappy and fun, both the scythe and the various weapons and spells you pick up in the levels have fun movesets For me personally it gets a bit too repetetive to quick, but I would still reccomend it of you *really* like roguelikes and dont mind the repetetion that comes with them

unlabelledView post →The game is BEAUTIFUL, the moment I started it and saw the visuals, I got excited thinking about how good it could be But after playing for a while, it quickly started to feel very repetitive and boring. I’ve gone through several levels and they all feel almost exactly the same, with simple enemies that keep repeating over and over It's one of those games where you can see so much potential that it’s frustrating when the gameplay just isn’t there. I’d love to see the same visual style and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →very fun however I have no one to yap about it with, the artstyle is absolutely beautiful and the gameplay feels very honest and yummy, I just suck
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's fine. Pluses - really cool art direction across the whole game, wonderful soundtrack and sound design. Fun enough. Negatives - getting past the style, the actual gameplay part is pretty generic. Didn't hold my interest to go past more than the first few Breakdowns (difficulty increases) as I can only stomach so many runs ended on getting bad level ups or loot rolls. A fine if forgettable experience.

unlabelledView post →Even though it has nice graphics and no technical issues, the game didn't really grab me. I'd rather play Hades 2 or Dead Cells.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is beautiful to look at and is well designed but the game play is boring and health system is way to punishing. put enough hours into it just to basically get to the same point over and over. maybe im just bad as they say but even the meta progression is just new weapons and if you dont play slow and just learn the bosses moves you will never progress. Not my favourite rouge like
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay loops would not have been as enjoyable without you, Randey.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's alright. Mini bosses, weapons, levels and perks are being randomly generated as we go. Shame that we cannot skip the cutscenes, enemies somehow are able to attack through walls, and V-sync doesn't work, but else than that, smooth gameplay, interesting loop, after few attempts you unlock higher diffilcuties and after 8 attemps, you unlock esay mode. Game is pretty difficult to complete in one go, which adds up to amount of time its gonna take you to reach the actual ending.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have A Nice Death is a really intresting 2D rogue-like. The game feels like a child of Binding of Isaac and hollow night with a beatiful artstyle and classic combat. Although, sometimes the gameplay loop makes it too repetative sometimes, it still manages to be entertaining. As for the achievment side of thinks 70% of them are doable
