Hard Truck 2: King of the Road (originally Russian: Дальнобойщики 2, lit. 'Hauler 2') is truck driving racing video game developed by SoftLab-NSK and published by 1C Entertainment in 2001. West European version of Hard Truck 2 was released in various European countries by JoWooD Productions on June 7, 2002. It is part of Dalnoboishiki and the Hard Truck series. Every shortcut felt like forbidden knowledge, every delivery was life or death. Twenty-five years later? I kid you not, this game literally laid the foundations for Euro Truck Simulator, and many other truck games. The soundtrack you will hear in this game is nothing like you've ever heard before. To me, it's much more fun compared to the 18 Wheels of Steel series, and even sometimes I prefer playing it over Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator, only because this game is MUCH more fast paced and more wacky. For those who have played truck sims throughout their lives, I think you should really give this game a try.

D2GI now fixes the effect and makes it scale to resolution!
unlabelledView post →Nostalgic game. Used to play it back in the day as a kid but on Lithuanian version. I recommend installing graphical modification D2GI which makes it run more flawlessly on modern systems, widescreen support and other fixes.

Trying to launch the game on SteamOS results in an instant crash. Changing graphics settings makes the game never launch. In-game cutscenes are non-existent. Trying to launch a multiplayer game results into a connection error. And it's not like these problems were not solved by the community earlier, it's just that this exact version of the game has not been patched to be runnable on…

All in all out of steam I probably have 2000 total hours in this game across multiple generations of PC. This is one that sparked my passion for logistics and it is a welcome sight to see on Steam. 10/10 game. Cannot recommend enough.

Wasn't it without it's flaws tho, such as terrible vehicle-to-vehicle collision system and opponents that only drive box trucks (semis are traffic-only). Still, I cleared this game like 5 times.
