60 of 178 · most liked firstThis is honestly a pretty great game. It's fun, fast paced, the co-op elements are brilliant and the gameplay is simple yet challenging. That said, I wish all of the challenge came from the design, but sadly most of it comes from the unpredictable controls. Activating certain objects requires really precide positioning, making disabling certain traps way more challenging than it should be. And from playing as the hacker, the movement between nodes is unpredictable. I found my self in a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first purchased this game, there were bugs galore. In the few moths since, Piece of Cake Studios has fixed many of these bugs and has been nothing but helpful AF in squashing any other bugs. I am use to AAA game devs that do not seem to give a crap about what gamers think but the folks at POCS seem to LISTEN to their customers and take into account what we want. The game still has a few bugs here and there but I have to say I will continue to support this developer just for their…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good concept, fun to play. Enjoy it in the first few hours with my friend. But after that, it is just repeated content. Same maps, same path.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →An isometric view of Monaco with characters from Armello is what I think of when playing this game. However, it has much more charm and is palm sweating, heart-beatingly, exciting. I'm unsure as to how the difficulty scales or if there are different maps or even specific map layouts but the maps I've played are certainly doable. Some were sort of "challenging" in the sense of more security, more running about and getting things in a specific order, while others were pieces of cake. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good for a few hours of fun, but the game is awfully simplistic. After you get a couple unlocked skills (which why are they unlocks in the first place?), many of which are tiny boosts which amount to filler, the game just stops progressing and stops being interesting. Both the hacker and the thief have an extremely limited number of actions they can do, so most of the time you are just moving from place to place, waiting for your buddy to do something, then they sit around while you do…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Getting into a multyplayer game is a slow and buggy process. The game itself is very simple. 90% of the jobs inside the game can be done by either the hacker or the field agent. The only thing they need each other for is bailing each other out of jail and opening doors (or firewalls as they are called for the hacker.) Play a few levels and you've seen everything there is to see. Game gets boring and repetative fast. Not enough content. Looks more like an alpha access game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game itself seems simple but the co-op element is amazing. It is definitively one of those games I would play with a buddy all afternoon. Except that I can never play that much, or at all, since the game crashes and disconnects either of us constantly. And guess what, if either player drops for any reason - game over. No matter how late or early you are into the mission. Sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes 20 or even 30 minutes if you are having a hard time. It's just a flat out boot to both of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you miss old cooperation games that you loved to play with a friend, brother or sister on a couch, and if you dont look for massive action with violence, but instead you want to chill out and have fun, Hacktag is just for you! PROS Even after the game is still in Early Access, it is a big fun to play it, and help with development. + Great, colorful graphics, which makes game good for every age. You want to chill out with friend? Sure thing. You want to have a break from your children? They…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the best coop games I've played. Played 7 hours of the Beta and absolutely love it. This is not as it appears, this game is very challenging and you really have to work together with the other player or you will most definately fail. The two play styles of the hacker and the stealth agent are very different and will suit various tastes. As if you're like me and aren't a fan of stealth play, the hacker will be right up your alley! Very frustrating and very fun and rewarding. Here's a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First off, not a "bad" game at all. Its pretty fun and the mechanics are good enough. I found this while looking for more games like Operation Tango which was great. This was disappointing. For a game that has been out for apparently around 5 years, we encountered a lot of bugs (invisible hacker node lines, unpredictable player movement, missing UI, matchmaking/party issues, etc). Levels/missions are very repetitive after you play for a few hours, and level layout doesn't vary much at all.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good game! Really funny to play on split screen with a friend (or online), the dev team is really cool and will help you at any time, there is new content every month with events and stuff. Highly recomended ;)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I first saw this game on Steam, I instantly fell in love with the concept, after playing it for a while I wasn't disappointed. This game offers the kind of coop gameplay I've been waiting for for a long time, the stealth is rewarding when you sneak past guards and with a hacker friend helping you the whole time, it just makes you feel ultra cool, especially when you and your partner get your head around the minigames and you're just in sync with them taking on the level. It's refreshing…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a polished, full-fledged game with a lot of dialogue, missions, unlockable skills, customization options, and much more. Unfortunately, the tutorial alone bored both me and my friend out of our damn minds, and the first mission was no better either. We couldn't care to continue. I also hated the isometric controls (even on the Agent) and several introduced minigames.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Asymetrical games are hard to design well and balance. Don't get me wrong, it's not perfect, but it does a great job with setting and having the two different games integrate.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The potential was there, but the game gets stale really quick.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does anyone remember "Trilby - The Art of Theft"? While totally different, that's what this reminded me of first. Anyway, all you need to know is already on the shop page here, if it looks interesting to you, you can't go wrong with it. It's meant to be played in Co-op Mode though, make sure you have a friend or two to play with. You can play it alone but it might be very challenging then, as only one agent will move at a time. Additionally here's a personal opinion: They offer "deer" as a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's unfortunate that such a neat concept is implemented so terribly. The game is a buggy mess. Do not buy it. It's the first game I've ever had to refund. I literally cannot complete the tutorial; the door-hacking minigame got confused which side I was on and my key presses were altering the wrong set of numbers. I quit out to try again and now any time I try to start the tutorial the game just gets stuck on the loading screen forever. This was after it completely ignored my changes to window…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →*VERSION FRANÇAISE EN DESSOUS* Hacktag is what I would call an "old-school" asymmetric cooperation game. You have one hacker and one infiltrated agent. Here, you do not need an ally to pull that lever at the same time, push that box or simply help you defeat a boss. An AI can do that. No, you NEED your ally to progress in the level by distracting the right guard while you pass behind him, disabling a scanner so you can infiltrate the network in a sneaky way, opening the right door or slamming…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Purchased this for my wife and I - we had fun working as a team. I would recommend using a gamepad over keyboard/mouse as it plays much better. This game has great graphics and fun co-op gameplay (from point of view of in the same room with someone you know - can't comment on playing with randoms). I recommend checking this game out, especially if you've got someone to play it with.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We could't play local co-op due to issue with connection to external server.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The core gameplay loop is pretty fun, but it doesn't vary. Once you have played for two hours, you will experience that for the rest of your time. There are some emergent moments with guards and the antivirus, but other than that, it's cut and dry. It would be more enjoyable if it didn't require and EGREGIOUS amount of missions to unlock simple cosmetics. If you want a specific skin, that is dozens and dozens of hours of grinding. Not a bad game by any means, just better suited for a mobile…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My buddy and i were gonna pass up on this game cuz of the furry s***t too. Surprisingly, the games pretty fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →8/10 I've been excited to try Hacktag ever since I saw it mentioned on Co-Optimus prior to release. Clandestine was one of my favorite games of 2015, and Hacktag promised to add more polish to an already solid formula. Both games are asymmetrical co-op games, in which one player is an agent, sneaking around inside the building, and the other a handler or hacker, helping from outside the physical location. In Hacktag, you infiltrate office spaces that are patrolled by guards and monitored by…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Garbage. Don't waste your money. Can't connect to the server. I want a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →requires a connection to servers to be played. but sometimes you can't connect to those servers. don't pay for this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best enjoyed with a friend. Fun but repetative. Not a lot of story here just good levels and good time with a friend.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A Loveable Game, which redefines coop gaming. The devs actually care about their players, making it even better.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Presentation is great and the gameplay is fun. However, I think you really need a friend you know well to play it properly. Singleplayer is on the roadmap, so wait until that gets worked on if you aren't sure if you have someone to play with. If you have a friend to play it with, absolutely get it. If you don't, wait until it gets more developed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hacktag is one of those hidden gems that do not appear on the front page. I found the game through exploring the games Steam had to offer and this one got my interest with the game being about hacking and co-operation. Little did I know I would have a lot of fun with this game. Hacktag is all about hacking like the name suggests. The basic objective is to hack 999 GB of data. There are currently 2 other objective types as well, which are finding out the password of boss computer and hacking 3…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting game with a nice concept. While its not the first to come up with asymmetrical stealth gameplay its still not something you usually see around. Not to be played solo since its too hard, the developers said they are looking into making a better SP mode. The game is quite simple and works well due to it. One player infiltrates a building and the other assists him remotely, both have to open passages to each other, make distractions and if the teammate is captured, rescue them. Its an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There are many game breaking bugs while playing online, I asked Steam for a refund. This could have been a nice game if it didn't have so many problems. I also think the character customization and choosing dialogue lines without any effect are both useless. I would have preferred two well thought-out characters.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY Unplayable (Online Desync Issues): The game desyncs so much I can't play online with my friends. The final straw was in a mission my friend hacked a firewall, on their end they hacked it, on mine it's not hacked. Therefore I can't progress, and they can't hack it again for me causing a complete soft-lock of the level. Also encountered the following bugs: -Lobby one friend gets to the screen where you select mission, the other remains trapped on the 'connecting...' screen -While game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I write anything else, the matchmaking system takes a very long time to connect you to someone, (because of the low playerbase at the time of writing.) you're better off either joining the discord and playing with someone there, or getting this game with a friend. This game is pretty good, once I found someone to play with I ended up playing for a solid 2 and a half hours straight.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hacktag is a game where you need to cooperate with your partner to complete the mission, and Hacktag does it very well. It's really fun the way it makes you and your partner concerned and desperate to not make mistakes, and having the right types of difficulty to match you skill, making the game as hard as you want it to be. It is a exceptional game with good control and art, besides that it's improving more and more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game, lots of fun. Teamplay is critical, but play with a friend you'll be just fine. The thing is, when you're used to online gaming and trying hard to get better at games, you quickly find yourself yearning for more. We played like 20 missions with my friend and now we're beating red missions with S/A reatings for breakfast. Please devs, more varied challenges and more difficult missions. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hacktag is a really cool gameplay-based indie game. The entire game is based on the async cooperative system and it works really well: the infiltration theme, the hack and unlock gameplay, etc. The visuals are nice, the soft cartoon colors and the 2-color theme for the 2 players is smart and helps the gameplay too. The different corporations, skills and missions types allow a lot of replayability too and the dev team still adds content for events and such (eastert eggs, etc.). Great ideas in…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Particularly as a couch/local co-op game, this is fantastic. Sitting near each other (but without looking at the other person's screen; it'd be distracting more than anything) and sneaking your way through level after level is really very fun. I do have some gripes with Hacktag, but as it's still a pretty new game, I'm still willing to forgive a lot of things. My main issue is that there are essentially only three levels. Sure, you can play them on a different difficulty, but it's the exact…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you've got a friend to play with, it's a lot of fun. Very few games pull off asymmetric cooperative multiplayer, and this does it pretty elegantly.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Excellent game. Still in beta and have some UI bugs (some difficulty creating my character but no major bug encounter in game). Very playable. The coop style is great, the asymetric gameplay ensure that you need to communicate with your partner to succeed. Seems that missions change every day (or hours?) and this make the game very enjoyable. Work fine with xbox360 controller and steam controller. Can't wait to see the next updates!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're trying to play with a friend, good luck. There are two spots where it loads that can just fail to load/connect and you are left on a loading screen forever and have to close the game and try again. And it's not like 10% of the time either, it's about 75% of the time it will just fail to connect to the other player. With how old this game is, I'd expect the basic multiplayer connection bugs to have been ironed out by now, but nope
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is fast paced an difficult. Play ring-around-the-rosy as the hacker while 3 anti-viruses constantly circle you. disabling alarms/cameras/antivrius lasts mere seconds, while you usually are trying to disable multiple traps while avoiding a million guards or antiviruses. Getting caught sends you back so you can play ring-around-the -rosy again to the previous, frustrating, puzzle. Not super fun, also controls as hacker are super sensitive, and sometimes you'll press left and it throws you…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good local co op game, but I don't like furries.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was given this game as a gift, played the Hacker role. Found that, even when both players are in the same room, communicating is difficult because the Hacker cannot scroll around the board to see areas the stealth player might be in. Also, found the loss of archived nodes (R on the keyboard) when the Hacker is caught to be annoying. A big flaw, however, was many rooms didn't have distractions for guards, while there would be rooms FULL of distractions that there would never be any need to…

The story was interesting, and made sense as to why we were going into the locations and what we were seeking. The humor was fantastic, and despite playing on easy mode, it was still a fun challenge. Can't wait to play it on stream again!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like games like this.... but not this one. It's really repetitive. If there were just more to it i.e. more gameplay mechanics, this could easily be a great game. Instead, I'm just walking around deailing with the same 4 puzzle mechanics over and over, but aligned in different ways.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring and has no longtime playability. Would not recommend 1/7
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game to play with a friend :) Local coop works perfectly. Some space for mastery as running around with the agent gets funnier as you improve.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I honestly love this game, it just has a few glitches that need fixing.. It may or may not be because my computer is already slow as it is? I don't know.. Usually games aren't this slow and laggy for me though. Like I said, It's still a great game... The artwork and graphics remind me a little of The Wolf Among Us..Which is a good thing. Bright and full of bold colours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We play a lot at Hacktag with my gf and we love it! The asymmetric gameplay is well done, the pacing between the 2 players is perfect. We dont feel repetitiveness because the situations are quite different but we surely would love to get new skills, new levels AND new challenges! Go for it Piece of Cake! One issue we got regarding the game controllers, our logitech gamepads were not working properly, we had to use our PS4 gamepads instead!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought this game right at release (I think even early access) and put quite a few hours with a friend. I even started writing a guide. After an initial negative review because of connection issues I had a great talk with one of the Devs. They are great people and were able to fix the issue I had back then within an hour of me contacting them on Discord, so I was willing to give the game another chance and wait until they had some more time to fix bugs. Fast forward to last week when after a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A real neat little co-op stealth game! Feels best on a couch with a friend. Music is great to set the heist mood. Only downsides I've found are that objectives and the hacker controls are not super intuitive when you first start out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love asymetric gameplay games, and this one is very good. I played it with friends couch-coop-style and had a very good time :D I saw many users are posting connection problems with the online mode but I also saw the developers reacted very quickly and are releasing many fixes for the issues detected by the players so I would not worry about that ^^
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hacktag is already on my list of all time favorite co-op games. I've not played a co-op game like this that has had me on the edge of my seat while simultaneously laughing so hard that it hurts. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing Hacktag w/ my GF and I have to say it deserves a lot more attention than it has right now. The art direction is sexy as hell, the gameplay has a good feeling to it, and it's challenging enough to keep you hooked. Be sure to grab two copies at once though. There is the option to play solo but the game is much more enjoyable from your couch with a friend. And you're better off playing with someone you can YELL at. Overall a good choice for lazy evenings. There has been a few…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Couldn't connect to my mate. If the game promotes coop-gameplay, they should make sure that it works properly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow! I love this game! It's innovative, and well created! It's an incredible game to play with your team(soul?)mate for the cooperation and coordination it requires. Definitely try it out! Of course there are some bugs but the dev team is SO devoted on the discord channel it's absolutely wonderful! GREAT job Piece of Cake Studios!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember playing Robbery Bob on Android, had so much fun with it and longed for a similar online PC game. Got this to play with my partner. Boring, repetetive, slow. Not much to it really. But it has pretty graphics and I loved the beautiful music.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun gameplay but I'm confused by the game design? There doesn't appear to be a purpose to creating a new character apart from having a different race but it also resets your levels when you do that. There's basically zero charm in the game to keep me invested in it. So I can't recommend it beyond the main gameplay being interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before the review begins, I would like to state I really wish there was a 'maybe' option for reviews. Because as it stands, I don't really recommend or not recommend this game. It is interesting for the first maybe 4 hours, the way you do all the stuff in the game between the two roles. But in it's current state, I don't really think it's worth the $20.00 price tag. Might've never been worth any money beyond $7 or $10 bucks. Once you settle into the gameplay, it gets boring really quick. The…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Singleplayer forces you to be both roles at the same time, slowing you down and most importantly making several puzzles harder than they have to be. The game was clearly designed for two people, so you would assume that the easier role (hacker) would be automated while the stealth agent works instead of forcing you to do both. The final objective is usually to enter a sequence in a timed limit with both characters which does not get relaxed for singleplayer; this is outright impossible to do…
