negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Looked in my library for unplayed games. Saw Gunscape, saw that the last post was from the Dev's begging players to remove the free version from their library and to buy it for 20 bucks. Sounds sketchy, lets play it. Immediately hit with "buy this DLC" everything is locked except one mission. play mission. Bad doom copy with nazis and moaning aliens. SteamDB shows active players as 1 "me" Average player count last 4 years is less than 8 per day. uninstalls.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why make us pay 20 euro for a game that was free for 5 years! EVEN THE TAGS STILL SAY ITS FREE!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Publishers made free game not free in 2021 with no updates since then.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →turning a once-free game into one that costs money to play? and further dwindling its already small playerbase? really good idea!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It used to be free, but after a massive radio silence from the developers, death of the forums, and removal of the website... they raised the price to $20 and asked everyone who got it for free to remove it from their libraries and buy the game. They proceeded to get into NFTs with their other titles. They had run a poll for what games people wanted content based off of, and proceeded to make content for everything on the list EXCEPT for the #1 result. It's a comedy of incompetence that could…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the stunt they pulled with the last update for this game, don't waste your money. It was barely worth it when it was free.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah it was fun while it was free, but I would NEVER buy this game for $20, that's waaaayyyyy tooo high
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the game its self used to be awesome it was free and had a reletively small but active player base with very very fun gameplay then as the game was on its death bed they suddenly started to charge for it they've killed it it will have a special place in my heart but they destroyed it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just fcking wasted $20 and it isn't even fun. I don't even know what the fck happend. Just don't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I guess it is a FPS version of [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/250560/Fight_The_Dragon/]Fight The Dragon but without an overarching theme? Not my thing but could be interesting to those who want to pay for a game and then get prompted they need to purchase maps? Needless to say, I was too confused to enjoy this. I played through one player-made level and it was acceptable, but this is just not my type of game. Additional Details Operating System Ubuntu Linux…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →turning a free, mostly abandoned game into a paid game is, in itself, a pretty bold (and bad) move. but if you're going to try it anyway, you'd want your game to be fun and polished, to an extent. this game is not it. this marketing move will definitely grab people's attention for a hot second, but i don't think it's the sort of attention they'll have expected. pass.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →who is paying $20 for a game that was free for 5 years?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was free, now it's not. I feel like it's unfair towards people that don't clam every single free to play game they see.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Price changes from free to $20 and then immediately goes on a 90% sale. I'm pretty sure this is an illegal business practice.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Suddenly turned into a 20$ game today after being F2P for almost 5 years + the time spent in early access with no warning. [url=https://steamcommunity.com/games/342480/announcements/detail/3050595441003436620]According to the devs this was to "Bring Gunscape in line with our console offerings" in a completely nonsensical move since the game hasn't received a single update since 2017. Anyone who has had the game registered on their account prior to this change will still be able to play it as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game was ok at best when it was free its def not worth $20
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was great a few years back, but now it is dead. Don't give your money to these lazy ass developers. I spent 6 hours on a map today just to watch the save be overwritten. This isn't just a one-off issue either. These stupid ♥♥♥♥♥ don't bother to fix issues anymore. The game is run by a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ room-temperature IQ ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ that have zero ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue what they're doing apparently. I'm pissed to see so much hard work put into this game as well as a loyal community just get…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They went from F2P to $20, should've kept it F2P. Only 9% of people have finished the map for the first campaign level.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was f2p for ages, and they suddenly change it to p2p despite the fact this game hasn't been updated since 2017. Even better, they want you to remove all of it from your library and buy it again! Isnt that great? This level of scum somehow surpasses that of EA
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was mid when it was a free to play game. This game sure as hell isn't worth 20 big ones. Brother just buy doom 1993 it's only $5.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why did this ♥♥♥♥ suddenly become pay to play? definitely not worth the money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I remember when this game was free :/ Smh
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got This Game Many Years Ago But With All The Paywalls And Now The Price Change to $20 I Doubt I Will Be playing this since i have to buy it to get any new content updates
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As several others have said, this game used to be good when it was free to play a few years back. But the devs decided to make you pay for it and then they never updated it since. (So basically took the money and ran) Now the game is very much dead and abandoned thanks to greed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You can edit and publish your map now. Splitscreen achievement still broken. It has broken and disabled achievements and you can't use the map editor for new maps. https://steamcommunity.com/app/342480/discussions/0/3800526395815270469/ https://steamcommunity.com/app/342480/discussions/0/3939020962916434877/ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3127449401 https://steamcommunity.com/app/342480/discussions/0/1489992713701636436/…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The introductory campaign is okay I guess, but past that, it wouldn't even let me enter the level editor. Even when I selected offline, it told me to check my internet connection. The point of this game seems to be for multiplayer, but it looks to be pretty dead. And I'm not going to make my friends to buy this just so I can try it out -- it doesn't look like very good value compared to competing arena shooters. What makes that more confounding is that it used to be Free to Play, but I can see…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright FPS, but dead project!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was poor mans quake when it was free to play but now that it isn't I can't recommend getting this game. It's not bad but honestly there are equivalent and better alternatives such as xenotic and I think even krunker is comparable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →THIS GAME WAS GOOD WHEN IT WAS FREE WTH
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The level editor is the biggest feature here, but everything else feels pretty average. The shooting is serviceable without ever becoming exciting, and the overall presentation is hard to get invested in. It's not terrible, just the kind of game you'll probably forget about soon after playing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gunscape: The Game That Had So Much Potential Gunscape was a genuinely fun game to play with friends. It’s a mix of PvE and PvP, where you can go through levels together, fighting monsters or enemies, or even battle each other. But what really made the game stand out wasn’t just the gameplay—it was the map creator. The map creator let you build your own custom maps from scratch, which was easily the best part of the game. You could host them as public servers, allowing random players or your…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game's $20 now? Like, I played this game for 8.5 hours in 2018 because my toaster of a laptop could handle it and it was kinda fun. And then I forgot about it. So yeah, why?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game was great a few years back, but now it is dead. Don't give your money to these lazy ass developers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why make it free if they planned to make it cost so much later..Even custom maps creations decreased alot after it changed from a free game to a paid one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People who got the game for free back when it was Free-to-Play essentially need to buy a game they already own to access the newer updates. Whoever at Blowfish thought this was a good idea deserves to get shot.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is literally the backwards evolution of gaming, not even letting the free-to-play players keep everything, you guys are really just showing your true colors after this stunt
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AFAICT the unique selling point (USP) of this game is "what if doom/quake, but multiplayer editor?" Cube (2005) and [url=http://sauerbraten.org/]Sauerbraten did this already, and they are open source. The demo campaign, guns, and monsters are a little better than Cube's -- but these guys are asking for money, so that's kind of expected.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm surprised this game felt as bad as it did. Normally when you see throwbacks like this with all this custom art, deliberately invoking a retro aesthetic, it's from some developer passionate about that era, who cares about getting mechanics right and really crafting something special. So I always like to check games like these out. In gunscape, if there is a deep level of mechanical polish in this game, I don't know WHERE that would be. I can tell you where it is not: It is not in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played this game for free for a while, played through the campaign, built some levels, generally had a lot of fun, eventually decided to buy the dlc to get more blocks and content to build with, game soon switches to paid and soon after that the whole thing falls apart since the servers don't work anymore. You can't build levels, play levels, anything. Glad the game I paid for fell apart so soon after, great. The only good part of this hunk of abandonware is the soundtrack.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Somehow, I no longer have a license. Kthxbye then.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 - online is dead - 20$ price - one of those steam games where 1 miss click adds dlc into your cart
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool game concept, no servers and it's apparently abandoned though.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gunscape is, at face value, a lazy ripoff of Quake 2 (Not Quake 3, or DooM 3 or anything cool like that), but there's more to it. Gameplay itself is in the back seat as the primary goal for this was to be a community driven co-op design-your-own-levels game. That was free but the developers decided greed was better so slapped an obscene price on it. As always, when developers abandon their duty to customers and their duty to the industry, and decide it's up to players to create the content…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →20$ for a free game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this game's $30 on console, that's bad enough now the game's $21 so it can "stay in line with it's console offerings" this game wasn't even worth being free to begin with, i feel like i should have been payed to play it, it's not even remotely fun to play.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nobody plays this
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →4/10 Game has a decent little campaign, but it was clearly designed for multiplayer. Given that it used to be a free title I wouldn't be too hard on this, but now that it is $20 I could not possibly justify recommending it. If you could pick up a 4 pack for like $30 I could probably recommend it then, that way you could easily play it with friends
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i dont even know how i got this game, but i certainly didnt pay 20 bucks for it why does this cost money
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →yo what this ♥♥♥♥ used to be free when i was a kid, why is it 20 dollars now.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had fun when I played it for around an hour. Did not realize they transitioned from F2P to Pay to Play until today. Really stupid move.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i used to like this game, but not worth $20
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →played it free and this happened........LOWER THE PRICE TO 10 or 5 JESUS
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A love letter to old school gaming (Doom, Quake, Turok, Wolf3D, and the like) with a Minecraft aesthetic. Build maps, play other people's maps, a variety of gamemodes including coop, FFA, Team, and CTF. Even has some cool movement mechanics such as Quake's classic Rocket Jumping, TF2 style shotgun jumping, and even Chaingun flight adding some advantageous mobility over your opponents. Highly recommended.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →guys it is doom on drugs and the game is dead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pros and Cons Of: Gunscape Pros: Lets people make their own games Lays down the building blocks to make your first map A Large Variety Fun Weapon Mechanics Cons: Expensive Hitboxes are a little small Old scripts broke down so i cant buy individual packs Is it good: Yes Overview: Its a fun game with its own campaign being awesome. Yet blowfish kinda ignores it, I mean its good to make games and all but update games people are still enjoying.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Better than quake 4 on xbox 360
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yet another game that built its premise on community-made content and devs quickly abandoned it after they tried to make money from it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →(game complete, level built and published at 2 hours of gameplay at review, part of my review all my games effort) (short version) An early doom type game that does so many things right. The campaign is enjoyable (I didn't look at the clock once) the music is immersive, the level builder is very easy. The only draw back is $20 is a bit expensive. I absolutely recommend this game. (long version) I read the reviews for this game 1 hour in, and was shocked to see "abandonware" and "cost $0.15…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i know the devs suck and are begging for money from their "free" game, but im noit gonna lie this game is awesome. i got this game on sale for 2 bucks i think and its worth it. decent map bulding, fun gunplay, and best of all EIGHT PLAYUER SPLITSCREEN. the only other game ik with 8p splitscreen is screencheat and even though your screen is gonna be like 1 inch big its so fun haha. anyway gunscape remaster WHEN???
