Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Young sweethearts Billy and Kate move to the Big Apple, land jobs in a high-tech office park and soon reunite with the friendly and lovable Gizmo. But a series of accidents creates a whole new generation of Gremlins. The situation worsens when the devilish green creatures invade a top-secret laboratory and develop genetically altered powers, making them even harder to destroy! From TMDB

neutral · AI labelView post →How great is Gremlins 2 by the way? I think about that movie all the time. The surreal randomness of it feels both nostalgic in a classic Looney Tunes way but also hyper modern like something that would need 20 years of internet jokes to exist
positive · AI labelView post →I watched Gremlins 2 yesterday because I never gave it a chance, and that was the best movie I’ve ever seen.
positive · AI labelView post →person who has seen every movie made: Gremlins 2: The New Batch is greatest movie ever made
positive · AI labelView post →Watching Gremlins 2 for Xmas family movie viewing and I regret to inform you that it is predictive of some crappy 2024 things but enjoy informing you that it skewers Donald Trump and was made in 1990

Finally, I watched Gremlins—a movie I somehow missed until now, even though it left fingerprints all over my life. See, when this came out, I wasn’t allowed to watch it. My mom had a strict no-horror policy. But I found the next best thing in the school library: the novelization. I devoured it in one night. So I knew Gremlins through words, not images. And I loved every page.…

I was just informed that the flick has ANOTHER 35mm film screening, at Philadelphia's Colonial Theater as part of its Blobfest programming next month — July 13 at 7:30 p.m., to be precise: thecolonialtheatre.com/films/blobfe...
neutral · AI labelView post →It’s also a movie made in 1990 that I feel says every single thing any historian will ever need to know about the 1980’s. Fuck movies about the 60’s and 70’s talking about Vietnam and playing Fortunate Son, GREMLINS 2 GREMLINS 2 GREMLINS 2
positive · AI labelView post →You know what film actually got the future of technology right? Gremlins 2 with the hi tech building with unnecessary tech added to everything with obnoxious self satisfied voices that dont work and just cause issues

positive · AI labelView post →Gremlins 2 is still a 10/10 movie because there will never be another film like it. It is insane that this exist. It is the Aliens of comedies, Joe Dante just came in here and said "I'm going to make this sequel bigger and a completely different style" and it worked when on paper it sounds crazy.
positive · AI labelView post →Gremlins 2: The New Batch came out 36 years ago. The NES game took some liberties, but the ending is great. One of the only movie-based games of the era to have such detailed scenes. I'll talk more about it in my upcoming review of @vgmuseum.bsky.social's "NES Endings Compendium - Vol. 2: 1990".

Best movie. beyondthecanopy.com/portfolio/

neutral · AI labelView post →35 years ago, Elite was advertising its Gremlins 2 game-of-the-movie. Absolutely loved the ad. Just a really cool piece of art. The game? Not so much. The NES equivalent by Sun Electronics Corp was considerably better.

neutral · AI labelView post →Although I did sneak it into a few of my movies: Explorers, The Burbs and Gremlins 2. Spielberg bought his in 1982, a lighter version made for burning. The other two that were used on-screen in the film were made of hard pine. Mine is one of these two.
neutral · AI labelView post →It feels like it wants to be at once: * A Joe Dante Gremlins 2 style self-mocking sequel * A film that wrestles with the failure of the counter cultural movement * A successfully terrifying horror movie * A psychosexual analysis of Leatherface and it fails at all of them
neutral · AI labelView post →No film can live up to Gremlins 2. Especially in this corporate environment.

unlabelledView post →Not theater, but drive-in. Gremlins 2. The film breaks, something not uncommon at drive-ins in those days, people start honking angrily to alert the projectionist. Then Gremlins start doing a shadow puppet play. Greatest troll ever.

Zach Galligan, who played Billy Peltzer in the two Gremlins films revealed, > They’ve come up with a script. Warner Bros. is incredibly interested in doing it. Apparently, it’s waiting on Mr. Spielberg to read it and improve it, but, you can thank the success of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. This is interesting because director Joe Dante purposefully made Gremlins 2 really wacky so they they couldn't…

unlabelledView post →Not interested in a Gremlins 3 with Columbus but no Dante. I know Columbus wrote the first one and did a great job, but his other stuff is far too saccharine for me, and Gremlins 2, made by Dante without Columbus, is the superior film.
unlabelledView post →Smile 2 is such an upgrade in film craft over 1. I will always pick Army of Darkness over Evil Dead 1. Gremlins is a GOAT Christmas Horror movie, but Gremlins 2 is bananas.
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Day #246 "Gremlins 2: The New Batch" (Joe Dante/1990) One of those sequels that's so insane it needs to be seen to be believed. The jokes and gags come flying at you every second, blink and you'll miss some. Check it out!

unlabelledView post →Robert Picardo might be the best actor on the show. I remember reading in an interview that he was a little bummed at first about getting cast as The Doctor, since he originally auditioned to play Neelix, but he quickly realized that he was actually gonna be the show's Spock/Data/etc (which he previously assumed would go to Tim Russ). Then he really leaned into it. It's such a great performance and he has such a great capacity to emote. On the occasions when he gets full on angry (like in…

unlabelledView post →Once again we remind viewers that *Gremlins 2*, the film that gave us the immortal line "put everything they've got into canned food and shotguns", had as its primary villain a character transparently based on Donald Trump. The ancient texts do not lie.

unlabelledView post →I’m actually very intrigued by Gremlins 3, as “Chris Columbus, after having his film roundly mocked in Gremlins 2, writes a third Gremlins film” is, well, interesting. Probably not *good* but interesting.
unlabelledView post →Rewatching Gremlins 2 (1990). I had somehow completely forgotten that the whole film was an attack on notorious real estate developer Donald Trump. I wonder what happened to him?
unlabelledView post →Gremlins 2 was the best one! ~~Steven Spielberg~~ Joe Dante and Chris Columbus didn't want to make a sequel, but pressure from the studio to profit off the popularity of the first one forced them into making a sequel. So they decided to have fun with it. And it got wild! And super silly. They even parodied the first film several times. Like the movie critic who tore apart the first film as an awful piece of garbage... until some gremlins attacked him and he changed his review. Or when Kate…
