60 of 123 · most liked first“GreedFall: The Dying World” is a prequel to the first game and a considerable step back in most respects. It’s prettier than its future predecessor, but player agency is almost entirely gone. I felt early on I was allowed to pursue different options in dealing with problems and started to get invested, such as deciding how to go about closing a mine poisoning a river, but shortly after that, the main story keeps making choices for you, ruining the experience. (3/10) For example, after…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I would love to recommend as I have played many games from Spiders, but do not buy this game. Spiders has been closed by Nacon and the people who worked on the game have lost their jobs. It honestly does not feel like a complete game. Some quest were broken and combat feels horrible. I played for about 20 hours before I gave up and had I known the issues with Nacon I would not have bought in early access.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buying this game stamped with so many negative reviews was a daring decision on my part but I liked Spiders' previous games so I chose to give them a chance with this one. Maybe it's because I joined rather late, right at the end of the Early Access, when many things were already fixed, but I was geniunely captivated by the game and couldn't accept the injustice of such a low score so I had to do my civic duty and write this review. Just as its predecessor, GreedFall: The Dying World was an…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's hard to review this game. I enjoyed it, and it saddens me to see all the hate thrown its way. Yes, the combat isn't what it was before. Yes, it's janky and clearly missing content. You can mostly skip the combat by setting it to super easy/setting it so you can't take damage, but it's hard not to notice all the ways in which the team needed more time and money. There's no character who stood out quite like Constantin did (and oh, did I dearly wish for a cameo!) but I don't regret the time…

unlabelledView post →I loved the first one and jumped into this on day one. I feel the story and characters are more engaging, and the voice acting even better than the first one. The combat system is pretty awful, so I set it as easy as I could after a while so I could speed through encounters. I do appreciate the inclusion of many different accessibility options. However, by far the biggest problem is that the game is quite buggy towards the end. There's multiple discussion threads reporting the same bugs I…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IMPORTANT NOTE: Keep in mind many older reviews are from EARLY ACCESS and don’t reflect the Version 1.0 full release experience. / A lot of early impressions come from players bouncing off the first few hours. This is a slower, system-driven RPG that opens up over time. If you’re willing to stick with it, there’s a lot more here than the early game suggests. Earily Review Context (Final Review Thoughts Down Below): I'M IN ACT II (40 HOURS INTO THE 1.0 VERSION OF GREEDFALL: THE DYING WORLD)…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It stings to give this a thumbs down, because I am a pretty big fan of Spiders and have played most of their games, especially the RPG-adjacent ones. As such, I've grown accustomed to a certain level of jank attached to all their games, but have been able to push through as they've in general created fun worlds to explore and fun characters to hang out with. Greedfall: The Dying World starts out three years before the first game, which is a very big strike against it in my book. Unless you're…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately Nacon killed this game shortly after forcing the game to release early. The game is beautiful, so I'll leave the screenshots from my original review: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3611917849 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3611899351 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3611917721 However, Spiders (the studio who developed the game, now closed because of this whole fiasco) has requested that this game not be…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My current playtime is 7 hours on the head. I just finished the prologue island. So far? Fun. Fock if it's "good" or "bad," "peak" or "slop." The game is fun. And I know how hard finding that can be for some of us these days. A lot of its mixed reviews are those who didn't enjoy the combat. While I bought the game in Early Access, I didn't touch it until today. I'm thoroughly enjoying the combat system and like it more than the first game. The switch to basic attacks, cool downs and AP on top…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played through the original Greedfall, and this review is a reflection on it's comparison to the predecessor as well as some gameplay mechanics. I also played the game both in early access as well as on it's full release, and couldn't finish it either time. The game is a LOT more polished than when it was in early access, however, the visual, story, control, and camera issues which are my primary complaints were all reported to Spider during early access and none of them have been fixed.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was really looking forward to this game and bought it in early access right away, ignoring any reviews. And I regretted it. The game lures you in with beautiful graphics, vibrant colors, and seemingly elaborated gameplay at first glance, but that impression fades quickly... The story on the first island gives a sense of "déjà vu" for those who played the first part: the same diplomacy, empathy, and settlers' problems with colonization. It's fine, I guess, it fits the narrative of the story,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright so... There are a lot of hate / anger based comments and reviews about this game at this time (JUST hit full release) and I want to express that from my experience of the game I wholeheartedly disagree with most of the opinionated criticisms that those, who apparently want this game to be something it isn't and never was going to be, have. If you're feeling unsure because of negative comments I'd say please read this and see if it helps you get a feel for what to expect! Let's…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the full version, I can say this game is a solid 8.5/10 for me. If you enjoy mature, serious stories, just get it and ignore the naysayers. If you liked Dragon Age: Origins or Dragon Age II, you’ll feel right at home here. The gameplay, exploration, and overall vibe are very similar. Gameplay and UI feels a lot like Dragon Age Origins which is a good thing for old people like me.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really loved the story, companions and world building of the first game and this game has all of that again. However, the massive combat change is simply not good. They moved to a weird semi turn based but also live tactical combat that simply isn't fun to play. The action combat system they had in the first game was significantly better and the combat in this game makes it a chore to play. The fact that there is an option to be invincible kinda is a red flag that the devs have given up on…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a painful outcome. Bound By Flame was one of my first PS4 games, The Technomancer was an ambitious sci-fi opus, and Greedfall was the last PS4 game I played. With all their faults, they had heart. Really saddened to see this. Goodbye, Spiders.

I’m not here to judge him, but to tell his story.” 🎥 youtu.be/PqRm4RIwPAo?...
unlabelledView post →While I feel for Spiders', a studio whose games I have been enjoying for many years, I bet they too are regretting the sale to Nacon, especially after the layoffs that took place a few months ago, something Nacon reportedly told them wouldn't happen. The game is in a very rough EA(terrible performance and game breaking glitches), considering they have less than a year to finish it, 7/8 months according to some journalists and insiders. I can not recommend the game in its current state, despite…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full Release Update: The combat changes I can live with I guess (it still sucks,) but I can't believe they are charging 50 big ones for this. Failed a skill check? Enjoy running around for 20 minutes just to find the tiniest clickable item to progress a quest. Lost in one of these giant cities looking for the next quest objective because it's not marked on the map? Well, you should have thought about that when you stumbled upon quest B before quest A. Can't find a quest NPC you've never even…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Full game was released with a game-breaking bug that prevents the player from making progress in the story. Wait for more patches before patching which is ridiculous to have to say. A game should be fully functional and completable upon release.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just play Greedfall, way better game and better combat. Changing this entire game to a completely different combat system no one ever wanted ruin this game. Just enjoy the first game. This isnt worth your time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just popped up with my new Greedfall 2 lady for Ludwig that I call Keira. The game is a stunning beauty in the full version. 🥰 #Greedfall2 #Keira
unlabelledView post →It is a shame to leave a negative review as I do have a soft spot for this Studio but the state the game is in is completely unacceptable. The amount of bugs and performance issues you see just in the first minutes of the game foreshadow what might be an even worse experience down the line. Performance issues are not a surprise from Spider but this is on a whole different level. I won't go much further into this as there isn't much to add. I hope there is a good game there for those who…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I decided to buy Greedfall: The Dying World on early access because I enjoyed Spiders' previous game and wanted to support one of the most promising double A RPG studios, which are now unfortunately a dying breed. I've only played 4 hours and won't play any more before it comes out to avoid spoiling myself. On the whole, I've found the game much improved from its predecessor. The highlights are: -Better graphics and animation, absolutely night and day. -Better and deeper combat mechanics,…

Also, I don't understand why I hear Blackwall's voice coming out of almost every face I encounter except for the ones I'm (maybe?) allowed to kiss??? Greedfall is a cruel, cruel game.
unlabelledView post →I'm really disappointed in myself for being mean about a game I had been looking forward to for so long, but I had to tell the truth. In its current state, GreedFall: The Dying World is an undercooked game with bugs in both the main campaign and the side quests. Some of the core game mechanics don't work. Clearly, the game wasn't intended to leave early access so soon, but issues with the publisher forced Spiders to remove a lot of content and ideas from this project and release it prematurely.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Greedfall 2 is a beautiful world and great story BURIED in TRASH GAMEPLAY! Disappointing shame! Everyone rightfully blames Nacon, but also mistakenly martyrs Spiders studio. Honestly, even if Nacon did not face bankruptcy, Greedfall 2 is the proverbial NAIL in Spiders coffin. They once again have proven to be stubborn egocentrics who'd rather spit on all progress and repeat mistakes from which they have learned before! Why repeat again!?! WHY!??? 5 whole games over 7 years to master your damn…

Is this game a masterpiece? No, it is more like a swansong to the developers. The studio has been shuttered in the meantime by it insolvent mother, Nacon. It is a party-based action RPG with pausable real-time combat and a deep, richly detailed lore. Originally released in Early Access in September 2024, GreedFall: The Dying World has now…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really liked the first game. I wanted to give the second one a try. I understood that the combat had changed, and I didn't mind it because I had played DA origins, persona series, and Baldurs Gate 3. Turn based games are not my favorite, but they can be done very well. To be honest, i would have preferred they tweaked the original action combat and perfect rather than completely change it. I also felt that the first game had done a better job of engaging the player with that first boss battle…

unlabelledView post →Greedfall: The Dying World is a fantasy themed RPG where player character Vriden Gerr is a native of the island of Teer Fradee. After being kidnapped by foreign invaders and taken back to their city on the mainland, you must escape, recruit allies, and find a way to return home, while protecting your people from a sinister threat. Gameplay (medium quality) • Combat uses a familiar real time with pause system. This was a controversial design choice because the original game had a more action…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely recommend for those who want a party based "Bioware"-esc RPG which plays similarly to the original Dragon Age. It does a great job in continuing the world and lore of the original Greedfall with a fresh perspective as you play from the eyes of a native. Can't wait to explore more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Post Lost Soul Aside, figured out what I wanna say How much you enjoy a game doesn't = its quality. You can love a game flaws & all, so don't let my disappointment affect you Counter ex for me was Greedfall. I loved it at launch when it was at its buggiest. But the fun outweighed the flaws for me!

It’s a prequel set a few years before the original. The Story is easily the best part, with the companion arcs making up the crux of it. The side-quests have varied endings depending on your choices but the main questline is mostly linear. The Exploration aspect is decent. Bunch of hidden areas with special gear scattered throughout, and there’s very…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a fan of the first game. And even though this new combat system is a wild change compared to the first game I still like it. As a Dragon Age Origins, Neverwinter Nights, and KOTOR fan I can get behind it as it makes me feel nostalgic for the oldies. My only complaint is lack of facial hair... Gotta run around looking like a baby face.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the first one, but this one has technical issues that aren't going to be fixed since Nacon closed the dev Studio Spiders. Since the devs wouldn't see a cent of a purchase anyway, I'd advise not to buy this one.

unlabelledView post →I haven’t finished the game yet, but even early on it became clear that this title needed several more months of polish before release. There’s a genuinely good RPG buried here, but it’s constantly dragged down by technical problems and frustrating design decisions. The biggest issue by far is the sheer number of bugs and glitches. I experienced multiple crashes, unexplained frame rate drops, and one particularly frustrating bug where, if your main character falls in combat, the game can…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ah, Spiders :,(. Such a great little AA studio, and they made some great games. Bound By Flame was excellent for it's time, only to be ruined by corporate ineptitude. Still - Greedfall: The Dying World is a top notch sequel to the original. A lot of mixed feelings about the combat system, but I always loved Dragon Age, so I got to grips with it pretty quickly and really enjoy it's tactical aspect. The characters are well written, the world building is brilliant, as it is in most Spiders…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am pleasantly surprised how much fun this game is. It deserves a lot more attention and praise after the full release. I highly recommend this game to people who enjoy BioWare games, particularly the first Dragon Age games.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The good: there were many choices and different ways to approach quest. Locations are also very pretty. Characters and voice acting are also great! I cannot wait for full release to learn whole game's story. The bad: some bugs, but I played early access so hopeful this can be fixed. Neutral: combat. I prefer first game's action combat but I am a huge fan of Dragon Age Origins, so I'll just forgive as combat system is very similar here.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm actually obsessed with Greedfall: the Dying World 😂 I mean, I loved the first game, so it was to be expected, but I'm still surprised at how much I miss playing the game when I'm ripped away by adulting.

Before you spend a single cent on GreedFall: The Dying World, you need to know exactly who you are giving your money to. Nacon is merely a rebranding of Bigben Interactive (their parent and majority company), and they have a long, documented history of predatory behavior, financial fraud, and destroying indie developers. The death of Spiders studio was not an accident—it was a corporate execution. Here is how…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Way better than the first Greedfall. Definitely worth a buy imo, runs great on my system and rtwp (Real time with pause, Like Dragon Age Origins) makes the game far better and more strategic, enjoying it way more than Greedfall 1, very happy with my purchase which is super rare in this modern climate.. I hate Nilan!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have been mostly enjoying the game. The combat is not going to be everyone's cup of tea but it is "fine". I enjoy the world and story (albeit not as much as the first outing). However, I am unable to finish the game due to bugs and crashes that have got a lot worse the further into the game I have got.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finished Greedfall: The Dying World and while it was far from a prefect game I had a really great time with it. Genuinely so sad we likely won't get any more stories from this world with Spiders collapsing. The video game space truly is hell 😔 guess I'll just have to replay the first one again
unlabelledView post →it's a shame what happened to the dev. i liked the first greedfall, though the combat was pretty mindless, and this sequel is an improvement in most ways, for most of the way through. it all works - i didn't have any problems with bugs or crashes - but you can definitely tell that they were given a nasty ultimatum by the publisher and had to rush it out before it got all the content or polish it needed, which starts to show by the end. the last five hours or so have a lot of misplaced voice…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Typical Spiders game. Meh gameplay but interesting world, characters, and story. I don't like the combat much. It's not particularly engaging and it's awkward to use with a controller. The first game's combat wasn't amazing, but it was more fun to me. If they wanted to make it more strategic, they should have just gone turn based. There's a reason good modern games don't go this route anymore, especially when controllers are involved. All that said, I like the setting and RPG dialog…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had a lot of fun with the first game so I am excited to see what improvements they made with GreedFall 2. Hopefully they will still have a party member to tell you to take a potion every couple of seconds. 😌
unlabelledView post →Can I recommend it? Maybe if you liked the first title, but don't expect much on anything other than the story. I’m a fan of the first Greedfall, and that’s the sole reason why I bought this game. I mean, Spiders made a whole new language for the natives, to not just sprinkle it into the "common" speech, but to have full conversations in it. Just how impressive is that! The game had its quirks too, but it also had personality. The Dying World is.. difficult to digest. We start on Teer…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →30% + Great graphics in both characters and the world + In-depth character creator + Traversal is improved from GreedFall 1 - The colonialism story is extremely bland and watered down - Quests are uninteresting, oddly paced and often menial - Combat is strange, a weird in-between of turn-based and real-time that doesn't work - Characters are forgettable - Animations are not to standard with modern-day RPGs
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I brought it when it first came out and refunded it right away. After the most recent updates I went back to try it and it's improved so much, really reminds me of dragon age before they ruined it. Can't wait for the offical release so I can play it fully.
