Get Out
Chris and his girlfriend Rose go upstate to visit her parents for the weekend. At first, Chris reads the family's overly accommodating behavior as nervous attempts to deal with their daughter's interracial relationship, but as the weekend progresses, a series of increasingly disturbing discoveries lead him to a truth that he never could have imagined. unlabelledView post →I think Get Out is Jordan Peele's weakest movie because it all falls apart when I'm expected to believe someone from TSA is a hero
unlabelledView post →BTW, this joke was about the taste of the Oscar voters, not the film. I was likening it to GET OUT, LOST IN TRANSLATION, and PULP FICTION.

unlabelledView post →We're watching "Get Out," which I haven't seen before, and I keep noticing that the lead is very dark skinned and we can still see his face even when it's in shadow. The movie is properly lit. Notably properly lit.

unlabelledView post →Just watched "Us". It had a stronger premise but with a weaker delivery than "Get Out". The way the characters would sometimes not take the threat seriously was kinda annoying. I felt that kind of deflation during Get Out too, but G.O. is still the better movie in the Peeleverse so far imo

unlabelledView post →Get Out I wish the twist of this hadn't been spoiled like crazy when it came out because this is such a strong directorial debut. Knowing the twist just had me spend the whole movie appreciating all the small little details. I have nothing else to add that you haven't heard a billion times lmao
unlabelledView post →So for my first proper #horrormeganthon selection of the year, I corrected a great oversight on my part by finally watching Get Out. And yes, it did live up to the hype, then and now. It is masterfully tense in a way most modern horror movie-makers cannot grasp.

unlabelledView post →Tonight's showing at the Fargo Theatre was the 2010's entry in their Centennial Film Series: Jordan Peele's GET OUT. This was my 2nd time watching and it's a whole different movie when you know what's coming. ICheck out @blaisebalas.bsky.social's article about it below!
unlabelledView post →I just missed out on this film in its theatrical run after @darkprimus.bsky.social and his spouse recommended it to us, a mistake I did not repeat with Us or Nope. Even then, I think Get Out remains the best of Peele's filmography thus far.

unlabelledView post →The other thing I recall (in retrospective fury) from the GET OUT debate was this notion that comedy is somehow “lesser”. To say that film was a comedy was inherently to demean it.
unlabelledView post →One depressingly immature line of argument here is “oh you find [terrible thing that happens in the film] funny. Do you?” There was a lot of “You find racism funny?” when Get Out was classified as comedy. Now people are saying the same about sexual abuse re: Obssession. It’s an odd one this. >>

unlabelledView post →OK, so maybe the biggest name attached to the film was Jordan Peele himself, but there's at least a few actors in Get Out who are at least at Hey It's That Guy level, then and now.
unlabelledView post →I saw a film on Amazon called The Get Out with Russell Crowe and Aaron Paul. Thought it was going to be just another stupid gun film but it was really funny, much better than I was expecting.
unlabelledView post →I don't mind so much when horror is allegory as much as it JUST being allegory because of how secular writers and creators can be now. That's why I feel films such as "Get Out" are more like social thriller films like "The Manchurian Candidate" than a film like "Nosferatu".
