Behind the scenes at Sierra On-Line HQ where we get some prime Tim Curry being, well, Tim Curry at his smoothest. #VideoBytes

unlabelledView post →Amazing in a zillion things, but for me, I always loved him best for his incredibly hammy work as Gabriel Knight in the self-named computer game. His accent was so RIPE! RIP
unlabelledView post →Absolutely no one remembers it but Phantasmagoria. It was from the brief era of games where there were actual real life actors dropped into game settings and you moved them around (Gabriel Knight, also scary, was in this genre too). I remember nothing about it other than it was scary when I was 14

Eric and I just played this game and while the voice acting is superb (hearing Tim Curry do a a New Orleans accent is INCREDIBLE), the puzzles made me want to throw the computer away

unlabelledView post →Happy 80th birthday to Tim Curry, best known for his work as the voice of Gabriel Knight in the 1993 Sierra On-Line point-and-click adventure game, Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers (alongside Leah Remini and Mark Hamill!).
unlabelledView post →The Gabriel Knight series is widely regarded as having some of the best computer game writing of their era. It is also the series that named a character “Baron von Glower” and then made him the villain.

If I can still adore the Gabriel Knight series that hasn't seen a new game and ended on a CLIFFHANGER in 1999, I will ADORE Dragon Age just the same. And if we DO get another game after ME5? We'll see. In like twenty years, lolsobs.
unlabelledView post →Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers is a great game but the CD-ROM version with voices by the likes of Tim Curry and Mark Hamill is unfortunately marred by audio glitches. This patch fixes those audio glitches: alltinker.itch.io/gk-speech-fix #adventuregames

unlabelledView post →True, this is point&click at it's best, and a piece of gaming history fascinating art, excellent voice acting but the story - no, no, no at first it seems, as if a series of atrocious murders were only made to look like Voodoo killings then it turns out that a group of Black Voodoo practitioners, descendants of former slaves are in fact responsible for those heinous crimes and the blond, blue-eyed hero, scion of an aristocratic German family has to save the day SPOILER ALERT towards the end…

unlabelledView post →Entire voice cast changed, it's not the same game. The graphics are ok, animations are slow and sometimes unskippable. If you are a fan of adventure games in GENERAL this is ok, but if you're a Gabriel Knight fan you are going to be very disappointed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This week I wanna start my Gabriel Knight 1 re-play; it probably will be only 2 streams not 3, but I also might have some cosplay photo editing that we can do on stream too! Hoping to get some cosplay stuff done this weekend, so those are more tentative than the weeknights~

unlabelledView post →My dream project wouldn't be my own mega-CRPG or adventure game. Oh, no. It would have to instead be a proper and much needed remake of Gabriel Knight 3. Have spent far too much time thinking of how to actually tackle this, mind you.
unlabelledView post →I've completed Gabriel Knight 3 with my friend @darkcrowind.bsky.social! The story of that game is fascinating with interesting characters and locations. Only drawback is the control with the camera movement and one puzzle. I've now completed all 3 GK games! 🙌🥳 #game #sierra #adventure

unlabelledView post →Just play the original; the ugly character models and animations, boring cutscenes, inferior voice cast, insulting 'hints', and dumb 'bonus' puzzles make me feel like a lot of time was wasted on this remake that could have been spent just remastering the original's art and music.

unlabelledView post →Most people probably remember Tim Curry for Dr. Frank N. Furter, Pennywise, and lots of other memorable film roles, but you know who I remember him as the most? Gabriel Knight. That was the very first game that wowed me with voice acting, one of my first PC games, and it left an impression on me.

unlabelledView post →This may have been fantastic 30 years ago, but it's not for me today. The voice over for Gabe is awful. He's reading from a script with no emotion. None. I can't get into the character at all. The other voice overs are very good. Plus his personality, what there is of it, comes over as "Shallow Hal". Gabe and Detective Mosely are supposed to be pals from childhood - went to the same schools and so on. So why is Gabe portrayed as a twenty-something while Mosely is in his forties and…

unlabelledView post →and a couple of deep cuts I haven’t seen anyone mention yet: - ok, I love him in the 1993 Sierra point and click adventure game Gabriel Knight: Sins of the Fathers. came out right near the end of that era of great early 90s pixel art, ridiculous voice cast that also had Mark Hamill and Michael Dorn
unlabelledView post →It's good that this happened for posterity's sake, and worth it for the bonus content alone, but the 2014 remake already feels more dated than the original with its weirdly proportioned, stiff and squishy models, often buggy and janky animations, and far less interesting (and frankly poor by comparison) voice cast. You're better off playing the original first and grabbing this afterwards to show support if you enjoy it and are interested in some great behind the scenes interviews, discussions…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved it! A must play for mystery point & clickster lovers!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm a big fan of the original game and I do prefer it over this remaster. Mainly for the incredible pixel art style and outstanding music and voice acting. However this is a good remaster and brought back great memories of playing the original. Hopefully it will allow the series to reach a larger audience as it deserves to be remembered and not fall into obscurity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →....tangentially related, as the subject of night music reminded of the "Aria to the Moon"/"Transformation Aria" Hey @sharkabytes.bsky.social , the opera from Gabriel Knight 2. Because the 90s were a time when a game dev could get away with "I want to write part of a lost Wagnerian opera for FMV":
unlabelledView post →Fantastic! I remember playing the original game back in the 90s, when the boxed set came out. I own the originals as they were published here on Steam, as well. I'll play those later... let the shine from this remastered version stay for a while. I only had one issue with the game- a crash after I did something out of order on Day 6 and made a save. I was able to relaunch the game, and had lost little progress, able to load the previous save up to replay to prevent encountering the crash…
