I cannot recommend this game, at all. Just three hours in and I can tell, this is not a good game. I honestly don't know why it has such a high rating, I seriously cannot fathom it. This is not a good or well made game. Yes, 3d Rimworld is a neat idea, but there are a dozen other games on here that do it much, much better., and have far more to them. This game has no charm, no substance, nothing that would make you want to stick around and keep playing. Mine rocks and chop trees to build,…

This game is very, very bugged. I have attempted to play it now 5 times, 5 different saves. First save was ruined by a villager like.. becoming one with a door. Broke the whole save. Just arms stretching the entire span of the map, couldnt click on anyone, etc. Next bug made it so that none of my villagers would sleep in a bed or acknowledge their possessions in any way. Rinse and repeat. And those are just the BUGS, let alone the inadequacies. The fact that youre just constantly being…

What the ♥♥♥♥ happened here? I was convinced I was missing something; both from the "Very Positive" game reviews, and the game itself. Surely there was something to recommend this game amidst all the others that I just wasn't getting. There's no tutorial. In most games like this, they TRY to give you a fighting chance by telling you "right, you're gonna want shelter, this is how you get the ball rolling on food, etc". Usually, the tutorial is only useful for getting yourself in the air, so…

This game made me realize why there are thousands of 4x/god sim/city builder games on Steam: the people who play this game style will gobble any slag put on their plate. If a game so boring and soulless can be very positive, then there's no point in even looking at the ratings of sim games.

This is by far the least intelligent AI I have ever encountered in a city builder, and I have played a significant amount of them. For example, I am surrounded by trees, but for some reason the villager wanted to go chop wood 45 seconds away, right next to a goblin camp. Another villager decided to die of starvation instead of eat food. This is just scratching the surface. I just cannot recommend this game at all.

Here's a little guide, food come first. Make a village near an apple tree, go research farming. plant a 5x5 tomato and 5x5 potato. Focus on micromanaging your farmer first After that you can start focusing on gathering wood for your town improvement. Having a 1 or 2 star farmer priority to everyone in your village to ensure food safety helped too. Have a healthy relationship with the small tribe and the pirate helps a lot, so they don't attack your village often. Just give them what they want…

This looks and feels like an Early Access game... the AI is stupid, there's a lot of things that feels off. The mood thing is always a problem, whatever I do, they have low spirit. And when I spent point to forget negative thoughts, the thoughts came back instantly... so useless. Also, the lack of tutorial and explanations is very painful.

I haven't completely given up on Founders' Fortune yet, but with ridiculous frustrations (example, you go to slaughter a pig but it takes dozens of strikes and an entire herd of pigs attacks and kills your character) it's tough. It gives you missions such as... "build storage for 150 coins" right off the bat, yet you don't have any of the skills necessary to do that. As an experienced player you'd know this and skip it perhaps, but as a new player, you just accept it - then find out you can't…

I like this game, it was a good purchase for 4,74€ (18,99€ is a rip-off, sorry - 10€ would be a fair price for what you get), but it appears to have been taken out of early access too early and then later abandoned for the cycle to continue. This game is unfished and development appears to be abandoned apart from "bug-fixes" and it appears to be a pattern for these devs. I believe this game had great potential, but it is what it is. Hopefully it will inspire someone who will make a similar game…

I may play some more since I own it and it's not terrible (different from Stranded, Banished, Rimworld, ONI, etc., enough to be a bit interesting), but this game is just much too easy. Once you have 8 or 9 colonists there is very little reason to keep playing unless you just want to get all the tech or build for fun or something, and I've played through twice with barely any difference in the play. There's no real threat in the game unless you are attacked at the same time as bugs infest your…

How anyone can recommend this game is beyond me. Your colonists can't do anything, they get distracted every few seconds, need to rest most of the time and basically just sabotage your town building enterprise. You'll have to micromanage them into doing anything if you want to get something done. I'll never know why the devs thought it's a good idea to make you feel like herding retarded, malevolent cats while tribes and pirates spam you with basically unfulfillable quests that lead to game…

Founders' Fortune starts off well enough where you start as a pair of villagers, starting up a small village and dealing with the usual challenges of food, resources and the occasional attack from rival groups. The problems I have, however are quite varied and at times I feel that I'm held back from doing any real city building as it can be a real struggle to get enough resources without attempting to make your characters jack of all trades at the very beginning, especially in regards to…

Just thought I need to add to add a review as some reviewers are claiming this game to be "abandoned". When the dev released the game as 1.0 they considered it essentially a completed game. The dev does still do bug fixes occasionally to stabilise the game which is good enough. After playing it for 20ish hours I find that it is indeed a complete game. I find it odd that nowadays people seem entitled to ongoing updates when a game is essentially complete. See below for details but for the…

i'm rather on the fence on this game. it has some good qualities, but the general gameplay loop leaves much to be desired. as some others have stated, there is no real tutorial and some features i only figured out existed from other reviews (such as the ability to make a village wide schedule rather than trying to micromanage every single villager's actions). the main issue i have is villager's wants scale far too quickly. they want proper beds and their own rooms when i've barely made one…

Absolute Grind fest. 100% time wasted. 100% money wasted. Micro managing hell Trying to build or make the villagers do something uninterrupted is just pure pain. They have very high needs and behave like a toddler with ADHD, always doing what they want even if you tell them to continue with the task you gave them. BEST GAME EVER. Don’t listen to the red reviews. These people can’t handle micromanagement. This isn’t a peasant game, it’s a KINGDOM game. You start from nothing and build your empire step by step. If these reviewers got isekai’d, they wouldn’t be kings… they’d be the NPC asking for bread in the village square.

Things just....don't work? You can assign people to do tasks at certain times and they just won't. Instead of eating I had one villager just get mad and sleep and then they died instead of eating. And then I couldn't bury them because there were "no open graves" but everyone else was too lazy to dig a grave I guess. Just a terrible experience.

It starts out cute enough but you soon realize that there is no AI at all. So you have to micromanage every action to get anything done. But then they disregard what you tell them to do any random thing (especially rushing enemies that kill them in 3 seconds, that's their favorite hobby). Even when you set a schedule for work times and recreation times they just completely ignore it. One guy is working during recreation time while his "fun" meter is absolute zero. The storage and equipment system of this game is terribly designed. For example, you can buy a wooden axe to stop having to kick trees down. However, you cannot just assign it to a character. You have to build a tool rack, which takes wood, of course. So you have to keep on kicking trees. Trying to sell some stuff? Error: Stockpiles don't have enough space for 583 coins. Refreshing to have a City Builder game that doesn't require you to manage hundreds of workers and lives. At first the sheer limit of how few workers you have is weird coming from other City Builders but the SIMS like aspect of keeping them happy, building relationships, and managing their daily lives actually is a great twist to the regular resource management city builder. Love it :)

The AI is a bit off. Though sometimes i like to give direct orders in colony games even though that is rare, This one requires it. no mods I saw fixed it either. I had colonists doing tasks on benches I had no jobs in que for, foraging things even when I told them I wanted farming done first of all. This game has potential to be fun. But other colony games do things better.

For example, a sick/injured person can choose to stay in bed until they are fully healthy. Would have been better it if their was an effective system to better defend the base without much micromanagement so you can better focus on building and the colony can grow food much faster. Defending the base is a huge distraction as the enemies coming towards your base will depend on the number of people that you have. This means you always need to have most if not all your…

Founders’ Fortune is a colony simulation that blends settlement-building, life management, and light survival elements into a charming but surprisingly layered experience. Developed and published by Dionic Software, the game starts small: two settlers, a few tools, and a patch of land filled with promise. Slow and not interesting. Try Craft the World, Factory Town, and Necesse instead.

I read the reviews while the game was downloading, and I thought perhaps they were being a little harsh, especially about "you'll get tired of it in less than 30 mins". Unfortunately, they forgot to mention the fact that the 30 mins feels like 2hrs. If time flies when you're having fun... well this isn't it.
