It's crazy to me how underrated Forgive Me Father 2 is, pretty much like the original. They're both insanely good shooters with awesome metal soundtrack, hand-drawn unique visuals, Lovecraftian mysteries, and some of the craziest weapons in the shooter genre.

I'm going to start by saying that this is NOT a bad game... but I can't recommend it to anyone who liked the original. The gameplay has been substantially changed and not for the better. - Reloading is now a thing, so all of your weapons are slower and more cumbersome. - You can only have one active sanity skill instead of the full suite of them in the first game. - None of said active skills are particularly fun. Just minor buffs that don't last long enough. - Enemies are REALLY tanky. It…

Absolutely amazing game, hits the nail on the head for a Doom like game, the ONLY downside is that after 6 hours of playing the game no longer launches. Tried every fix in the book and can not get it to run what so ever. Highly upsetting.

This feels like an unpopular opinion, but I am really disappointed with this game. The first game's progression was more interesting with its upgrade system, especially when it came to creating different playstyles. Having only one power that you slap effects onto on an extremely limited budget that is shared with passive abilities feels constrictive and the game doesn't feel well balanced for most of it if you're not using it to heal the absurd amounts of damage enemies can deal when you make…

TLDR: They balanced the fun out of the game. If you're coming from the first game, I personally wouldn't recommend. If you're coming in blind with no expectations, you might like this. What I loved about the first game is the aesthetic, progression, and the power fantasy of achieving flow state and making your "build" work. The aesthetic has been upgraded by a LOT, like I was genuinely excited to play this sequel because it looked so good, and the visuals absolutely delivered. But that's…

As with any sequel, FMF 2 falls very flat. I never understood why developers don't take the original concept and build or improve upon it... The gunplay is noticeably worse; the guns feel and sound weaker compared to the first game. You have access to the end-game weapon tiers early in the game, provided you found a few not-so-hidden upgrade points. Level design is way worse than the first one; levels feel sloppy and uninteresting. When you complete an action, a small video plays showing…

A really sad downgrade from the first game. The visuals looks cool, but the further you get, the more mazelike every level is. The majority of the guns are completely useless, ammo is sparse because you'll be using only 2 or 3 guns the whole time while your useless guns are always full. It's completely unbalance, there are dozens of perks, but you're forced to only 3 the entire game so you always feel weak, even near the end of the game. For some strange reason they decided to take out a few of…

Disappointing. Worse than the first game in almost every aspect. Only one active skill with "card" upgrades where you can choose only three from a few dozen cards, so almost every card apart from the most vital ones is a useless waste. Weapons are separated into categories now, and you only take one of each type on a mission, but they are poorly balanced, so you unlock some of them only to use once and never pick again, and devs nerfed ammo pool compared to the first game, so you are forced to…

Recommended in the sense that it functions and everything about this works. Otherwise, EHHHHHHHHHH. Big improvement over the first game, but still kind of mediocre compared to most of the other good Boom Shoots out there. Okay, the level design is fine-to-good at times. The fact that that I can quick save in the sequel is a GODSEND. Most of the combat arenas are kind of lame, you take WAY too much damage, the game goes on and on and on, they want me to care about the story but the…

I do not recommend this game. I regret that I could not get a refund. * The level design is terrible. You often cannot run properly during fights. The arenas are either completely open spaces or awkward areas full of corners and mobs constantly chasing you. * The balancing is awful. It takes around three shotgun blasts just to kill an average enemy, which feels ridiculous. * You cannot restore health or ammo during fights, which artificially increases the difficulty instead of making the…

I beat the game; took me about 20-ish hours. This game has good things in it. Competent hands built this game, but I don't like the devs choices. It's quality of life stuff that aggravate me so much I couldn't enjoy it. My biggest gripe is that you have to exit a stage in order to modify your loadout. I spent over an hour on this irritating maze where you hunt for 23 levers in a dark temple and I finally get to the boss/arena fight only to find that I don't have useful guns equipped for…

Cannot recommend, this is worse than the original in basically every single way possible besides gun animations. Inferior enemy placement, no skill tree, inferior level design, inferior weapon choices and worse weapon variety, less build variety. Btw, hardest difficulty is basically no hit run.

forgive me father, i give up Usually I have the patience or the interest to push through a game even through a rough opening act, especially if its a sequel to a game I like, but in this case, I just can't. I love the art style, and the weapons feels great. The music is awesome. However, between the absurdly spammy amount of enemy spawns and extremely poor balancing, I just can't give myself a reason to continue. The first game was good because it was a linear, slow descent to insanity,…

The design choice to put the respawn and quit level options so closely spaced while being as thin as they are is enough to drop this game. Dying near the end of a mission just to accidentally quit it, with not even a confirmation click, or a way to jump back to where you were, is certainly a choice.

The first game was already flawed and the sequel sadly regressed in many aspects. If FMF1 barely itched into the positive this one drops well into the negative. Same as in the first game, the only real positive thing about FMF2 is the visual presentation, It is absolutely stunning and has improved even comparing to the original, which was already top tier. After being so surprised by the first game, I expected something similar from the sequel, but what I got pleasantly surprised me, because the sequel has its own unique charm. The art style and gameplay are on a whole different level compared to the first game, and I have to say that the game runs smoothly and beautifully at full settings. The game has revamped how progression and upgrades work, but it’s not worse than it was in the first game—you just have to get used to it. I definitely…

I want to like this game. The art is BEAUTIFUL, the designs are awesome, but the gameplay just isnt that fun. The only difficult parts of the game is when you are forced in to tight spaces and are spammed by enemies, some invincible when they are jumping or holding up a shield. This game feels like it's mad at me for playing it. Levels are full to the brim with genuinely the most unfair segments in any game I've played in years. Many of the levels are also pitch black and you're equipped with a flashlight that barely works, even with the passive ability that apparently makes it work better. Also had random MASSIVE frame drops regularly through every level I got through to the point of being nearly unplayable. AND WORST OF ALL! No Journalist so why am I even playing?

Good: Gunplay and art style. Bad: Level design, weapon upgrades/perks limited to 3. Wide variety of weapons but most suck. Boss fights are hit or miss - some are easy, some are incredibly frustrating. Certain levels have severe frame drops when a new wave of enemies is spawned. Arenas are way too small with way too many enemies. It's frustrating. Buy it on a deep discount, that's the only way this game is worth it.

Story wise starts immediately after first one. Journalist character from FMF1 is nowhere to be seen, probably killed off screen. Beautiful graphics, even more detailed than in its predecessor. Excellent, creative, and outright gnarly alien weapon animations. Many of my issues from the first game were fixed. Manual saving. Much better translation and voice acting. It's more ambitious. Graphically, it's a very impressive game. Mechanically, it's one of the (if not the) WORST games I've ever played. The levels are extremely repetitive, the enemies aren't always visible, and worst of all, there are very few health items scattered throughout the map, which means the player has to spend 90% of a level just one hit away from death—which takes all the fun out of the game.
