I didn't enjoy the movie like I would a regular comedy but watching a purely unfiltered vision of someone like Tom Green with no regard for marketability, conventions, or other 2001 versions of "the algorithm" is one unique experience.

neutral · AI labelView post →FREDDY GOT FINGERED is a really bad movie but I think it fits perfectly in the Criterion Collection anyway because it's a one-of-a-kind film that really does express a unique directorial vision and not bad because of laziness or incompetence. Or possibly it was just an April Fools joke idk

neutral · AI labelView post →A movie's reception is very important to its meaning. Monsieur Verdoux, Freddy Got Fingered, Southland Tales, etc are all made more interesting because audiences rejected them. But for me personally, Digger - a movie by the director of BABEL!!! - really puts this to the test.
neutral · AI labelView post →Obviously Wikipedia is wonderful but I need it to stop describing every single failed film as a cult classic. Freddy Got Fingered has not "garnered some positive critical re-evaluation, as well as a cult following." That's just a lie Tom Green snuck onto your website.
negative · AI labelView post →The other was a guy who spent a whole year subtweeting me to 0 people and the origin of his ire towards me was saying that Freddy Got Fingered was funny and that nobody really talked about the film Avatar anymore
neutral · AI labelView post →Freddy Got Fingered is secretly genius when you view it through the lens of Tom Green not wanting to make a movie, but forced to as a part of his contract with MTV. The second scene in the movie is Tom Green screeching off the highway and jacking off a horse.

neutral · AI labelView post →I haven't seen Megalopolis yet, but it is an inherently good thing to give some weirdo a multi million dollar budget to make a film about anything they want. It's important for the culture. See also: Southland Tales, Freddy Got Fingered, Death Stranding

I rewatch it more than better horror movies lol Runner-ups: 2001 gave us Monkeybone and Freddy Got Fingered which are terrible and disgusting but I watched them anytime I saw them on tv

I've attached a minute of my favorite bit from the film. (Bluesky only allows videos a minute or less, but the rest of the scene is funny too.)
neutral · AI labelView post →Freddy Got Fingered remains one of the most incoherent movies i have ever seen & i don’t mean that as a compliment. the whole film is like a horrible car accident.
negative · AI labelView post →For fuck sake, the movie is called “Freddy Got Fingered” which is a reference to a throwaway line that turns into a weird molestation/orphanage side plot. The joke is that the audience paid to watch this, and Tom is laughing at the audience and producers while burning money on screen.

positive · AI labelView post →It's funny that nobody ever mentions that Freddy Got Fingered was a film made by a man recovering from a cancer scare being asked to be funny when he clearly wanted to deal with the trauma of it. No wonder the film is so angry. It's Green wishing he'd had time to cope and giving us "what we want."

neutral · AI labelView post →Freddy Got Fingered! I laughed until my sides hurt. I don't even care for Tom Green's street material all that much, but that movie is hilarious and I will defend it. It's batshit insane, the bits are infectious, and every scene is memorable as fuck. The soundtrack is insanely good as well. There's a theory that he didn't want to make this movie, and it's a giant middle finger to the studio. Not only do I believe this, but I think Tom Green really carried that bit all the way, making one of…
