I tried over 20 Steam Next demos so that you don't have to!. And I've rated them all below. I'm very glad Steam decided to do a big promotional event around them- it helped point me toward a lot of games I would have never tried/heard of otherwise. Some of the good ones might not be good the entire game, but they were at least good in the demo. I would recommend trying any demo I rate 4/5, and maybe purchase the full game if you like it. Anything lower, and it's probably down to personal…

Alright. FatalZone is done and dusted. As much as I care for it to be anyway. I've spent a decent amount of time leveling up mercenaries, building up my town, have completed like twenty raids; and honestly, that's really all the game offers, so yeah. As far as bullet heaven/auto battlers go, this is one of the better ones from a gameplay perspective IMO. It does however have a couple issues that keep it from attaining greatness in the genre. First off, you do build up your town via resources…

Decided to add more then 250 achievements for the 'full release' where diffuclty doesn't stack. Multiple people adressed this to the developers and they even replied to it, then decided to ignore all the feedback by not doing anything about it before 'abandoning' the game, leaving all achievement hunters including me with a bad taste in their mouth.

By rule, any game that gets abandoned by devs within 6 months of release gets a negative review. There is too much missing from this game to recommend playing it. Other games are similar with better execution. This game started really well, excellent potential, but abandoning mid-development is so disappointing.

It was an unfinished game 2 years ago and it is an unfinished game now. + Technically grindable - Very few unlockables - Massive power disparity between weapons - Very few mechanics to work with - Merc system doesn't affect gameplay enough (it's VS with DD roster management but merc's starting gear doesn't matter and you can reroll mutations cheaply enough if you aren't going for "perfect" rolls)

Ever since I discovered Vampire Survivors a couple of months ago, I've been looking for the next game similar to it. I've found Brotato, but FatalZone has me hooked. It was $4 during Steam Winter sale and it's so much better from a game mechanics POV.

There's very little here. When compared to other games in the genre, there are very few weapons and classes, for instance. It seems like it's incomplete, but also seems to be abandoned.

Ok, I don't usually write negative reviews, but this one got me disappointed. The game's fine if you're only looking for an hour or two of random chaos, but as soon as you start to try and plan anything, the game falls apart. 1. Some weapon evolutions make the weapon worse. Like the katana for example - you go from 7-8 quick strikes to 9 very slow strikes where the final hit gets 0.1% chance to kill everything on the screen. (Skip this if you already understood why this is bad) Explaining why…

Achievements are utter garbage grind, you don't get lower level achievements for doing higher tier runs - meaning you have to hundreds of runs just to get level achievements with each character (and there is only 5 maps). Mostly abandoned game

Decent game with a critical flaw. You'll upgrade everything about 15 hours in, but you have to complete every stage at every difficulty with every character. Each stage takes 30 minutes, with additional time for upgrades and opening chests (so add 5 minutes) Then multiply each stage 6 times for the difficulty tiers, then multiply that by the 9 class types. It'll take over 157 hours to 100% the game and you completed most of it within 15 hours. As long as you don't try to 100% the game, it'll…

I really wish I could give this game a positive review, but I can't. There's a lot to enjoy here—the gameplay is genuinely fun, and the progression system feels fresh. Instead of unlocking permanent characters to develop, you have access to permanent character archetypes, which you can then hire as mercenaries. Each mercenary can be outfitted with unique armor and weapons, making them distinct, and you can level them up through their own skill trees. But if a mercenary dies, they're gone for…

A cheap variant of vampire survivors, failed to provide any interesting elements and other reviews make it clear there is not a lot of actual options so the only thing it has going for it is enemy variety and there does not seem to be any offical plan to expand content.

The extraction mechanics in FatalZone once held promise, offering a sense of challenge and purpose. Unfortunately, it seems the developers either didn't know how to build on this aspect in earlier versions or were afraid it would alienate potential players. Now, it's been reduced to a trivial feature, as you can purchase any weapon or armor combination without much effort, removing any meaningful decision-making. Not that these choices were ever that impactful, as there’s a glaring lack of…

I don't like that concept of a "fatigue"(mutation) when you get it every time after the fight. The worst part is when you play you get distracted from the running zombies for which you get a bonus , so it happens because you(devs) haven't done a notable frame around the window of notification. In general, The whole game and game design don't force me to play it long and many times , therefore the buying of the game was not a right decision. 3/10 - there are many action rogue-like games better…

I would really like to give this game a positive review but I can't. So much of this game is legitimately fun. The progression system is fairly novel. Instead of having permanent characters that you unlock that you build up you get access to permanent character archetypes that you can buy as mercenaries. You can then equip those mercenaries with armor and weapons to set each character apart and you can even lvl them up with their own skills trees. But if that character dies, they are gone. And…

Dear devs, I've already played every map, on every single difficulty with every single character prior to the 1.0 release to get the achievements that were tied only to the last (legend) difficulty. And it took me about 50 hours. With the 1.0 release, you added over 200 achievements that are, for almost all of them, tied to lower difficulties. Disappointing Early Access. The devs didnt seem to have a clue what to do with the game and beside some small additions nothing really changed. So much wasted potential! In the end this is just another survivor like most uninspired ones with a little gimmick feature that barely scratches the surface of what it could have been.

Most of your write ups seem decently done if you clicked with the game at all, but if you're going to continue to review things, you might want to do reign in your personal biases a bit. Low scores for games you didn't play or realize you don't understand the appeal of are pretty bad takes. Vampire Survivors was quite literally one of the hit games of the year when it came out, to call other games of the genre that are following on its coattails "not really a game" and saying people shouldn't…

Sadly I'm going to say AVOID this game. The gameplay is FINE but the glitches and bugs that completely wipe your data or game crashes wasting 20+ minutes multiple times are too much. Each run requires 30 minutes to complete which is long but not terrible. What is terrible is when you are at the 25-28 minute mark and the game just crashes out of no where it is beyond frustrating. You lose any and all progress, literally wasting your time. The worst part is the devs appeared to have abandoned the…

Unlocks are all by achievement, meaning you have to play with their poorly designed heroes with poorly designed weapons or you cannot unlock everything. Limited variety. Almost every 'evolution' is locked behind which main weapon you pick. Others will are gate kept behind achievement unlocks. Most heroes/weapons are bad. Then a few are totally OP. Recruiting heroes is RNG (Hero type) on RNG (Weapon Type) on RNG (Armor Type). You cannot look up what the weapons/armors do when leveled up…

Extremely lacking, grindy, and unbalanced. Once you know the only viable meta this game has, it gets EXTREMELY BORING. The 330 achievements this game have are mostly difficulty related and 30 minutes each (20 minutes last stage) for all characters which where the grind is. Like other negative reviews, the lack of content, abilities, unbalanced enemies/difficulty spikes, and even the lack of a simple basic story* is the final nail for the coffin for this game. September 23, 2024: I like this game and I'd recommend it if there wasn't a permadeath mechanic that deletes your character if you have a Fatal Exception crash. Not bad if you want to have a little fun, but be prepared to spend +300h if you want to get all the achievement the normal way, most achievements are like: using character X complete level Y on difficulty Z. and completing a level means surviving for 30 min fighting and you will lose the character if you die and all the progress (permadeath). FatalZone fails to live up to other survivors-likes and both feels and IS an unfinished product! Made by RUSSIAN "indie" developers, this game had real potential if not for the dev's laziness and greed. Nowhere do they actually state that info, you can only correlate it by tangential information like: legally-required address, (+7) country code, English/Russian languages offered on…

Worth picking up on sale if you want a fun zombie slaying bullet hell and aren't looking for more than 30 - 40 hours of entertainment since you can unlock everything relatively quickly and the meta is completely broken, which severely limits replayability. Take a look at Yet Another Zombie Survivors if you're willing to spend a bit more for something similar with more polish, depth, and replayability.

Most of the game is fine for what it is, but it has some problems. To start, this game has very few items, and not having Banish is actually a problem. I've had several runs where I don't get my desired items well into 20 minutes of the run. Once you've unlocked a bit of the meta, the runs are so boring, repetitive, and easy (even on maximum difficulty) that you barely have to move. Bad achievement implementation. there's like 300 achievements just beating every map on every difficulty with every survivor. bear in mind each of these achievements takes you 30 minutes. and doing it on the highest difficulty doesn't net the lower difficulty ones. I know achievements aren't everything in a game but this implementation is so horrid and clearly made to keep you playing for as long as possible way past the time the game becomes repetitive.
