unlabelledView post →One of the best indie gems out there! I'm glad to find that the sequel is great as its own. FAR: Changing Tides is a chillax game where you sail around the destroyed world with some puzzle and micromanagement elements sprinkled in the way. Unlike many other relaxing indie games which get boring after the first hour, this game throws you just enough gameplay variations and interesting settings enough to entertain for you. The game follows the rule of 'show, don't tell' to the extreme. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This isn't a big "STAY AWAY" sign and overall the game was okayish but I honestly don't like it when compared to the original FAR: LONE SAILS. In the big picture this game is pretty much like to the first one but to me personally it just seems that whatever was added felt worse than the original (From how I remember it, which WAS a while ago.): - Throughout the entire game it felt much more like a slog than the first one. - The character has a small speed boost forward when jumping. Which…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I think what I enjoy most about The FAR games is that they do something which I don't think most games do well anymore. I've been playing computer games now for over 37 years and the one thing that always makes me enjoy a game and remember them, is how much wonder they stir in me. These games have such distinct moments of wonder in them, they really are in a class all their own. For the price, they are beyond worth it, but speaking as someone that likes how certain games can introduce you to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →. No other words are as boring as meditative. The first game was alright because it was rather short. This game had so much dead air that I had no idea what to do. The screen was just moving right, and there was literally nothing to do, nothing special to look at. About 50% of the game is dead air.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely gorgeous game. In most ways I feel that it improves even on the first game. I have to chuckle at the reviewers who say that the game has "too much dead air". Like, dudes... c'mon. The game is about soaking up the post-apocalyptic environment, on your own, journeying across a desolate, flooded planet. What were you expecting? Zombie attacks every 30 seconds?! It's no "Grand Tourismo", that's for sure. This is as much art as game. It's about journeying in the after-times.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Although I really wanna like this game, it's just a disappointment compared to the first game. In the first game you had more time to appreciate the environment. But here it's idk harder and more resource management. I mean, it's not bad, just not as good as the first game, and sometimes the game was really tedious, and I just was hoping to get this done quickly.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish there was a "meh" option. It was cool, and I really liked the first one. It doesn't do enough to differentiate itself from the first one, and has less cool things happen. There are some cool moments, but nothing as cool as "the moment" from the first game. If you really liked the first one I guess I'd recommend it, but don't expect anything mind-blowing. 6-7/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Hello again, old friend. ---------------- Step 1: Put this one down. Step 2: Pick up Far - Lone Sails Step 3: Play that to the end. Step 4: Pick this one up. Step 5: Play this to the end. Step 6: Watch the beginning of the credits too. Another beautiful game made by Okomotive. Though, the story feels less captivating and personal than Lone Sails, it still does its job. ---------------- Some stuff: 1: Some people complain that there is not enough fuel and it can softlock you since you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just finished FAR: Changing Tides. Overall, it's a good game and worth playing if you just want to relax and pass the time. But for me, the first game was better. The second game felt more challenging than the first one. The puzzles became harder, while the first game had easier and more enjoyable puzzles. About the story, the ending connects well with the first game, which was nice. But during most of the game, I didn't feel there was much story compared to the first one. I still enjoyed…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I’ve played the previous game, as well as another title from the studio, both of which I thoroughly enjoyed, and this game does not disappoint. It’s similar to many cozy adventure games, comparable to Journey, so don’t expect an action-packed experience. This is something you’ll enjoy if you’re looking for a relaxing game with minimal puzzles. I liked how they tied the game back to the first one toward the end, and I’m looking forward to seeing more from the studio. For players thinking about…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →FAR: Changing Tides is a serene yet emotionally weighty journey that transforms a flooded, desolate world into a canvas for quiet storytelling and patient exploration. As the lone protagonist, a child wandering through the ruins of civilization, you discover and eventually bond with a multi-function sailing vessel that becomes the heart of the entire experience. The game takes the companionship between traveler and machine established in FAR: Lone Sails and expands it into something richer and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly recommended, it is just what you always needed, but never knew. Especially if you've been overloaded by life problems or work. I think this might be one of the best game out there gameplay-wise. It is paced just right — not too short, not too long, keeps you engaged all the time, while having significant diversity of interaction. It never become boring too me, all while not being too actioned, allowing for a certain medetative process. This game as gifted by a very special…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It could be half as long without losing anything..
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really disappointing. I was expecting something relaxing, but after just 2 hours it already felt like a slog. I had to push myself to keep going. Turns out “chill gaming” just isn’t my thing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a lovely, relaxing, casual game, best enjoyed for the gentle pleasures of sailing the seas at your own pace in a steampunk-esque vessel to visit parts unknown. Although there's little story to speak of, the joy of the game is in learning how to work your vessel and then simply sailing/motoring it along. I think it's left to the player to 'fill in the gaps' of the story themselves when they're gliding along out at sea. I think the game's strength lies in it's depiction of the sea: your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend playing the first version of this game first and then playing this version because the entire ending of the game depends on the first version. If you don't play it, you will be a little confused. But apart from that, the story, music and concepts of the game were amazing. And if I were to talk about the game, you will be in the role of a character who is trying to survive in a drowned world and you will face many puzzles and ups and downs along the way. Overall, I highly recommend…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The Far series is one of the best atmospheric puzzle adventure games on the market. I dare say that it qualifies as a masterpiece, but one thing that holds it back are the controls. They're a bit clunky, but nothing game breaking. It's just a little annoying trying to pick up some items, and having to press the x button to push a switch. Rather than holding x, the game requires you to press x and then press it again when you're done pushing the switch. This causes a lot of unnecessary…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great sequel to the first game (FAR: Lone Sails). It kept what made the first one great and expanded the world.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately, I can't recommend the game. Loved the first game, and so I bought this one for an upcoming 10 hour international flight. I downloaded it beforehand, opened it up, and...... Requires online activation. You can imagine my disappointment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very tedious compared to the first one
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A genuine masterpiece. The music, the scenery, all of is beautiful. 10/10 would recommend as a cozy game to chill.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is the indie game equivalent to Half Life: “On A Rail” If I go in expecting a cute little game but instead find myself frustrated, annoyed by how the game’s bad “language” made it into a terrible resource management situation and having to look up walkthroughs because the game really doesn’t communicate with you, I would say it just isn’t worth it. I found a lot of the puzzles to be frustratingly counterintuitive. Progress often depends on interacting with objects in ways you wouldn’t…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing this right after FAR: Lone Sails, this game was overall good but not as good as its predecessor. FAR: Changing Tides added a bit more complexity in the new vehicle. Which in my opinion over complicated the simplicity of the first games controls, the first game was very comfy and easy to play. Some of the puzzles were genuinely confusing sometimes. Acquiring fuel was also more tedious in this game as the new ships design was somewhat awkward to navigate. The boost was a nice addition to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked the game, but I think it's important to say a few things just to be clear. Like many of the people that played the game, I finished this one after FAR: Lone Sails, the first "episode" in this dystopian yet beautiful series of games. I think that Lone sails was more intuitive and thoughtful , while the second one, in a (failed, in my opinion) attempt tries to replicate the simplicity of the first one. The final result it's sometimes frustrating and here and there the next move is not so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you liked the first one, you're gonna like this one, too. It almost feels like the same game, just, Welcome to Waterworld.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you havent picked up or played this back to back with FAR: LONE SAILS, and you are in the market for a beautiful, ambient, environmental story about loss, perseverance, the dangers of reckless ambition & industry, and hope, then grab this game (and LONE: FAR SAILS as a bundle) and play them in order back to back (FAR: LONE SAILS >FAR: CHANGING TIDES). You will not be disappointed. Visually stunning, fun gameplay, interesting puzzles and a mystery and ending that is only made way better…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Same as the first game, it's just a cool interactive roadmovie with a nice artstyle that reminds me of Dishonored. I didn't like it as much as the first one though, it felt like this game is longer while having less of them cool scenarios and visuals. Still, I enjoyed it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Loved the first game, albeit it feels like an age since I played it! Changing Tides is a solid sequel, its not as poignant as the first game, plays much more like a 'lite' resource management game, with more focus on maintaining the ship which detracted a little from the immersion the first game provided. The designers have added more complex puzzles, but some of the more simple puzzles are more frustrating. That said, it a nice game, offers something different to the first. I played it on the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is absolutely gorgeous. So quiet, vast, immerse and simple, it takes you on an epic voyage full of small, satisfying puzzles, all the while telling a story with no words, but incredible music (huge shout out to the composer, Joel Schoch). My only critique is that in the first 60-120 seconds the game tells you the controls, which the first one didnt, and I liked that. The game goes a great job of set you to up well to solve the puzzles, and I think us players could have figured…

You need to go to game properties then launch options and enter SteamDeck=0 %command% This will unlock the 30 FPS cap and stop the god awful in game stuttering. Set your steamdeck to 45 fps and enjoy the game. If you’re still having trouble. Google far: changing tides steamdeck performance issues for more information.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bigger, calmer, slower and longer than the first one. Just start it up, put on headphones and enjoy the excellent OST and chill vibes this game projects.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had fun playing this game. The story continues. I did have trouble with the ladders. Jumping and then holding the w/arrow up key was not obvious to me. To place or grab an item using space and e/enter ws not easy for my fingers. I advice people with clumsy fingers using autohotkey to play this game. using script like 'e::RButton RButton::e' will add use of the mouse to this game. LButton for left mouseclick, RButton for right mouse click. some machines were to close at each other so…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Incredible gameplay , the music. Such as well put game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My goodness, the pacing and spacing of this journey is incredible. Adventure usually means adversity and this game is no exception. But in Far: Changing Tides, it also means long 5+ minute stretches of just calmly moving along, watching the scenery pass. These sections were an invitation for me to relax and I gladly took them. The scenery has this smooth, simple artstyle that looks painterly. I especially loved the look of dark clouds in the distance, signalmen of the storms ahead.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So WWE has signed Necro Butcher to a legend deal which is the most insane video game Bullshit imaginable. It's the kind of historical revisionism you expect from Far Right dictatorships.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the first game and I would very much love this one as well, if there was not for a game breaking bug that doesn't let me finish the game. This happens at the docking station near the end of the game. I cannot recommend a game you cannot finish, I will happily change the review once I can. https://steamcommunity.com/app/1570010/discussions/0/3820784984088137029/
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GOOSEBUMPS !! the ending was PERFECT. the gameplay, puzzles, art, music and atmosphere were just perfect!! these devs are amazing <3 as much as I loved the first game, this one might be even better! especially because of that ending T.T somehow it healed the inner child in me after all the emotional damage the first game caused >.> I REALLY hope we get a third game. the way my hands were shaking and my eyes were tearing up when I reached the enddd UGH. what an experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend Changing Tides even if you’ve played Lone Sails and especially if you haven’t yet. I put it off for too long because the premise seemed too similar to its predecessor. When I finally got to it, working my way towards the right and getting into the rhythm of operating another lovely machine, accompanied by beautiful art and music, enchanted me all over again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →GREAT GAME AS THE FIRST ONE, ALL WAS SO IMPRESSIVE EXCEPT FROM COUPLE OF PUZZLES BUT YOU CAN COUNT THEM AS SOME SPICE ON A MEAL. ALL I WANT TO POINT OUT IS JUST FOR COUPLE OF MY FRIENDS, PLEASE RELEASE THIS MASTERPIECE TO "MacOS" ALSO SO THEY CAN ALSO PLAY AND ENJOY IT FULLY.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolute Freaking Cinema!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Actually GOTY. Yeah it`s kinda more complicated then the first one but for me its even better cause keeping this ship afloat is a very meditative activity. Goated graphycs even on my middle laptop. Stunning scenerys and music. Was so shocked about reunion at the ending. 10/10 The only thing is, it`s sad that the second part isn't available on Macs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →can i have my money back there is nothing new i can do in this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite a more lengthy game compared to Far: Lone Sail. Story is dragged out in-between each section where you have to travel long distance for a period of time which may bore some but I thoroughly enjoy it. Phenomenal audio and visual showing how "grand" everything is in this game. Resource scare is quite a thing in this so if you are anxious about managing logistic to fuel the boat I'd say just run it. 9/10 solid game ever since I watched Draegast/Drae plays it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is another masterpiece from Okomotive. I am a huge fan of the far series and I hope everyone gets the opportunity to play both the games. The graphics and the visuals are to absolutely die for. This game is something out of a dream and I am so here for it! I love this game so much. I love how beautifully it ties the stories together and pieces the world together. I am never going to get over the absolute stunning visuals in this game. The soundtrack is also the definition of majesty.…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most prettiest ending in game.It was so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and beautiful at the same time.Just 1000/10..!!!!!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Similar relaxed pace as the first game. No handholding, so you have to figure things out for yourself which is nice. A pleasant, slow journey... though managing the sub can be a little hectice.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Stunning Art Style: The game features a breathtaking "hand-painted" aesthetic that makes every ruined cityscape and vast ocean feel like a piece of art. Immersive Sound Design: The soundtrack is reactive; it swells and fades based on your actions, creating a powerful emotional connection to the journey. Tactile Ship Mechanics: Managing your vessel—adjusting sails, stoking the furnace, and diving underwater—feels rewarding and makes the ship feel like a living character. Stress-Free Exploration:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In every aspect a successful sequel to the first game FAR: Lone Sails. Wonderful music, great atmosphere and just the right amount of busywork to keep things going. Some very suprising moments and a wonderful ending. A great, wholesome conclusion - although I really wouldn't mind a third game in the series. If you like cozy cinematic platformers and enjoy vehicle based management sims, this, and it's predecessor, are the right games for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was a bit of a letdown; but since I got it for next to nothing on a sale, I can't bare to give it a thumbs down. Game is ok, but no where nearly as good as the 1st one. Ship is too big, so it's hard to enjoy the scenery. Story is related to 1st game. Buy it on a sale and enjoy
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Too long for the story and m3chsnics. Too much uninteresting floating time
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another masterpiece, I liked it better than the first. It's amazing to witness how they created a game with such a feeling of granduer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The first game, Lone Sails, is one of my favorite games ever made. This sequel builds on a lot of stuff super well! The first game is still my favorite between the two though for a few reasons, but I'll get to that. One thing this game absolutely does better is the way it expands on the Okomotive itself. The vessel you pilot in this game has a lot more functionality than the first, and it's super fun to use. The way the capabilities of your vessel expand throughout the game is really fantastic…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This sequel does a good job of expanding upon the format of the first game. The submarine ship was interesting to navigate. The new environments are beautiful and the game as a whole creates a sense of progression like you're on a voyage and upon reaching the end, you completed a journey. Would recommend.
