He's in his element in Kent Jones' witty drama Late Fame, playing a 'man of letters' ie a postman who is also a poet. 4 out of 5 film-authority.com/2026/10/15/l...

unlabelledView post →Fame is not the same as recognition and appreciation. “TV and movie milling of actors of the day so fans can harass them for autographs” is fame. People knowing who to thank for a good deed is recognition and appreciation.

I like to entertain the idea The Swimmer is an unofficial sequel to this film, like Dennis Hopper said Out of the Blue was to Easy Rider. #filmsky #film 📽️

unlabelledView post →Kent Jones and Samy Burch's Late Fame is destined to be one of my Top 5 films of 2026. Art vs. content, artist vs. poseur- Willem Dafoe and Greta Lee show the real cost of authenticity today and it is heartbreaking. What a movie!

unlabelledView post →A sequel to Fame where we revisit the washed up characters after more than 45 years and hear them moaning about how they could have been contenders, with one of them having randomly become mega famous, could genuinely be fascinating. #TOTP #Fame
unlabelledView post →I think what makes this film work, even now, is that it selected it's stars from a bunch of aspiring and talented individuals whom it was perfectly plausible to believe in. To like and dislike. It has something about it that offers hope, optimism and realism to people from a range of backgrounds whose skills with their feet, their fingers or their voices might well be the only thing saving them from a life of banality in parts of New York that couldn't have cared less if they lived or died. positive · AI labelView post →Watched an episode of #Fame made in 1983, dealing with racial prejudice. It was heavyhanded, but made me explore when laws came in stateside intended to prevent that kind of crap - 1963. In the UK, they got them in 1964, but they were so limited that they were still adding to them over a decade later. It also formed a good reminder of how, when it comes to discrimination, black people need white help, women need male backup, LGB need straight support and trans/queer/intersex etc need cis buy-in.
