Sam Bowden is a small-town corporate attorney. Max Cady is a tattooed, cigar-smoking, Bible-quoting, psychotic rapist. What do they have in common? 14 years ago, Sam was a public defender assigned to Max Cady's rape trial, and he made a serious error: he hid a document from his illiterate client that could have gotten him acquitted. Now, the cagey Cady has been released, and he intends to teach Sam Bowden and his… From TMDB

He's even great in Mitchell if you watch it without the robots talking in your ear. Should be a Clint-level American icon. www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
unlabelledView post →My reaction to the episodes of the Apple CAPE FEAR that I watched (which isn’t all of them, because I got kinda bored) is that when you do maximalist menace and violence for the length of a movie, that can work. Staring down the barrel of ten hours or whatever it is? No thank you. Not for me.
unlabelledView post →OMG this movie — I was worried about bringing my almost 13 to a revival screening of 1994’s The Crow but watching 1962 Cape Fear w/ my sophisticated 17-yr-old I’m more worried, more scared & unsettled myself. Mitchum goddamn.

unlabelledView post →We are stoked. We’re getting to see a Frank Miller adaptation early, exclusively?! Problem is, we cannot stop laughing. We’re laughing like Robert DeNiro in Cape Fear. The movie is hilarious & ridiculous to us & no one else which makes it worse. My producer is annoyed by us but we can’t HELP IT…
unlabelledView post →When we talk about horror movie villains I am almost always astounded that DeNiro's Cape Fear performance and Goodman's 10 Cloverfield Lane performance aren't given more props.
unlabelledView post →Daaaaamn. We’ve had a lot of fun with Joe Don over the years, on eps like Congo, The Pack, and Joysticks, but he was also great in GoldenEye, Cape Fear, The Living Daylights, Charley Varrick, Fletch, Walking Tall… it goes on. What a life! www.hollywoodreporter.com/movies/movie...
unlabelledView post →I'm a fan of MST3K, but I will never forgive them for turning Joe Don Baker into a joke. He was a genuinely terrific actor. Lots of big roles will be mentioned today, but he's very underrated in Scorsese's CAPE FEAR (what great presence he brings to that part) and MUD, his last film. RIP.

unlabelledView post →Mitchum in Night of the Hunter and Cape Fear really created a kind of villain for american film AFAIC. Someone on here already said Bardem as Chigurh and I think there's a common thread there about how those characters are slow moving, soft spoken, a bit jokey and absolutely soulless killers.

He made a number of classic films with Robert De Niro, including, Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Cape Fear, Mean Streets, Goodfellas, Casino, and The Irishman.

unlabelledView post →Apple TV's adaptation of "Cape Fear" fails to justify turning a lean-and-mean revenge story into a bloated 10-hour series, BUT it's never boring and the top tier cast is exceptional. My review:
unlabelledView post →I think the only way that an 8 hour "Cape Fear" series is justifiable is if the movie theater scene includes an entire double feature in real time.

Bardem really brings that raw, unpredictable threat and psychological dread from Scorsese’s 1991 film into a modern light. The tension is incredibly high, and the whole story is built right around the invasion of safe spaces.
