Developer 14° East
Fallout Tactics: A Post Nuclear Tactical Combat Game, or simply Fallout Tactics, is a turn-based real-time tactical role-playing game set in the post-apocalyptic Fallout universe. Developed by Micro Forté and published by 14 Degrees East, Fallout Tactics was released on 15 March 2001 for Microsoft Windows. It had sold over 300,000 units worldwide by 2008. The game follows a squad of the Brotherhood of Steel as it… From Wikipedia (CC BY-SA 4.0)

Looks to be more story-focused than the last They don't seem to have promoted it AT ALL. Zero press releases in my inbox archive.

unlabelledView post →This game is only good after the first 3 missions, after that you start to think this game is ♥♥♥♥ but once your learn the context behind the development you'll realize its just sad. This game is a game developers worst dream in that they released it before it should've been released. Playing this game is like eating a half-baked cookie, you're not mad or disgusted at the cookie or the baker but rather it just makes you sad. This game IS NOT FINISHED. You NEED to download the Redux mod…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Don't look at the playtime. I finished the game when it came out, and I remember trying to play it through for the second time, but dropping it on Super Mutants because of the tedium. I tried to get back to the game around 5 years ago, and it didn't click. I was wondering if it didn't age well, or if it was never good, and I just didn't know any better at the time. I made another attempt, and I found an answer for myself: the game is not fun. Fallout Tactics was definitely made with…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As someone who adores Fallout 1 & 2, I decided to give Fallout Tactics a try, it is also my first experience in playing a real time squad strategy game. Just to be upfront, if you are expecting this game play or be anything like the first two games, THIS IS NOT LIKE THAT AT ALL. This game honestly was challenging at first to get into, but once you get past the first 2-3 missions, you fall into a rhythm that works for this game. It is considerably slower than FO 1 & 2 in terms of gameplay, and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →People give this game a bad name because "oh it's not a Fallout title because of --random crap". It's a brilliant game that builds separate lore for the Fallout world and i can't recommend it enough!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It’s okay I guess, I personally enjoyed it. The most important thing you should know is that it’s *very* different from the other games. It barely has any of the rpg elements. Heck, you can’t even speak with any of the NPCs (you can interact with them but can’t respond), and there isn’t a speech skill. But the gameplay itself is fine for the most part. It’s basically Jagged Alliance but simpler and with a Fallout coat of paint. In terms of mods you only really have Redux and Equilibrium,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fantastic game. It is underrated when compared to Fallout 1 and Fallout 2. However, it is most certainly the most difficult Fallout game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Gabriel was a Brotherhood of Steel warrior cut from Fallout Tactics. He appears in early screenshots for Fallout Tactics, but does not appear in the game. #Fallout

Also Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, in case you don't have any other games you could be playing, books you could be reading, movies you could be watching, dishes you could be washing, paint you could watch dryi

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →the last true FALLOUT game ever made. all is forgotten now. all is abandoned. cherish this gemstone while you still can.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A complex, unconventional tactics game with a good story. Switch to turn based mode in the settings, real time is unplayable, no idea why that's the default.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is awesome, I have played Fallout 1, 2, 3, NV, 4, and 76 prior to finally giving Tactics its shot and I love it. This is an almost perfect merger of squad strategy and fallout. I really wish they made this into a separate spin off series. Bethesda also has given me BOS burnout, but.... the BOS in this game are sick and that Power Armour design is so good. By far the best BOS chapter.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Remembering that shallow as fuck mobile game and thinking Microsoft/Bethesda (don't forget BDS), should get Obsidian to reboot Fallout Tactics, a la XCOM.
unlabelledView post →The original Brotherhood of Steel elders decided to expand eastward. They sent a massive Brotherhood airship fleet across the continent. The fleet encounters a storm in the Midwest, and most of the airships are destroyed. Survivors of the airship Cassandra land in Chicago. Cut off from the original BOS from Lost Hills that we meet in Fallout 1, this new midwestern BOS chapter starts recruiting wastelanders (something unheard of in the main BOS) and start caring more about conquering…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unlike Fallout 1 and 2, this game is not compatible with modern systems. In order to run it, I have to change the screen resolution to 800x600 and select "Play Windowed". However, it still has many problems. I created a character and starting the game. But my character couldn't use Sneak. I never encountered a problem like this in the previous games. So I restart the game and create a new character with Sneak skill, but the problem remains. The raider in the first mission could see my…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If youre going to play this game I highly recommend downloading the nexus mod it really does polish the game and make the guns feel much stronger as they should be. Now on to the game play. Game play was great it made you think about a lot of the characters and which ones should have which gun and who should be the driver and mechanic and medic. I had a great time playing it and it made you map out each mission and still had that fallout feeling as 1 and 2 just more a graphics overhaul maybe…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't work very well on modern hardware. Clunkier than 1 and 2, story isn't very intriguing and the lore doesn't exactly match up with the first 2 games. Wanted to play more but the slow on turn-based/almost uncontrollable on real time combat made it pretty tedious.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ran my Fallout #ttrpg last night. Leaning on obscure-ish lore from the questionably canon Fallout Tactics game for the main conflict and it's been fun. The players were introduced to grenade-slinging intelligent talking deathclaws who are members of the Brotherhood of Steel. Good times.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I actually really like this game, and if you enjoy the combat of Fallout 1 and 2, you absolutely will too. It's just a straight combat gauntlet with a story so barebones it can't be classified as a skeleton, but its hella fun
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Currently playing Fallout Tactics (2001). I thought I’d get tired of it fast, since new games rarely hold me for even an hour. Turns out the problem isn’t me getting older; it’s that older games are just so much better. What a masterpiece of a game... Mission 12. :) #Fallout
unlabelledView post →Many years ago I bought this game as a pre-order. I still have the t-shirt it came with. Its still worth your time The Redux mod is a nice way to play in 2025. A fantastic turn based squad game. Save often, its very old and can crash.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While I will say this game isn't as fun as Fallout and Fallout 2, it's handedly better than a lot of what was to come, which alone has made me appreciate it more as the years pass by. It has a few more bugs iirc, and some of the difficulty isn't as fun, but it's still very appreciable by its own rights.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Biggest candidate for the "best game you never heard of" and "best game everyone hates". The Icewind Dale of Fallout 1st gen. One of the best XCom-like tactical games I've played.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tactics is genuinely one of my top three fallout titles, i know its been a buggy mess forever but it was my first fallout game and gets entirely too much undeserved hate. play it, its half baked fallout x com. its peak.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wild, the version of Fallout Tactics that was available on GOG when Interplay owned the series included a print and play tabletop tactics game and this isn't in the Bethesda version of the game since that doesn't include any of the bonuses
unlabelledView post →Fallout Tactics is one of the most underrated entries in the series. It blends classic Fallout atmosphere with squad‑based strategy, giving you a fresh look at the Brotherhood of Steel as an actual military force. The missions are challenging, the squad building is addictive, and the Midwest setting adds lore you won’t find anywhere else. If you’re new to Fallout, this is absolutely worth playing at least once. It’s a great bridge between old‑school Fallout and the modern games, and it shows a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel Rating: 6/10 – Fine Fallout Tactics is rough around the edges, similar to Fallout and Fallout 2. It did work for me but not particularly well and shares a few of its technical issues with the prior Fallout games. I’m not a huge fan of this game. The atmosphere is there, so is the artstyle, but beyond that it largely feels like this game is missing quite a bit of what made the original Fallout and Fallout 2 special and fun to play. In essence I did…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game, makes you really have to think carefully about your next move and how you approach each mission. The game gradually gets more difficult which makes gameplay interesting and so does the changing enviroment and new enemies as you progress to avoid repetative gameplay.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good luck getting the game to even launch, game is unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great Game ♥♥♥♥♥♥ Port. (Don't mind the hours because steam stopped tracking my hour until i found out how to increase the resolution.) P.S: don't mod the Better Call Saul theme on the game if you want to keep your sanity.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Maybe I should give it another few hours more, but I genuinely could not leave the first area due to how bad the gameplay on this one is. And that's coming from someone who loves old crpgs like baldur's gate and even the previous Fallout titles. It did not click with me. I will be trying to play this again some other time, but for now it's gonna be the only Fallout game that is a big fat "no" for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not good. everything is weird in this game. it starts with the atmospheric sounds/music which is not bound to the music volume fader in the options. so in order to turn off the music you have to turn off the soundFX. WTF? then there is a lot to read in this game, and there you have really small letters, including small item icons and weird describtion. compareance of items/equipment doesnt exist at all. the map fits the conseption of PIP-Boy and is therefore weird and mostly useless, not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want to love this game, and I'm sure I would if I could get over the controls. But I can't. I'm a huge fan of retro games and I rarely have any issues with clunky mechanics, but this one is just too much, even for me. The biggest problem is that both combat modes (the turn based mode from F1/F2, and the real time mode - I'm not counting squad mode since it seems pretty useless in most situations) are deeply flawed in their own ways. Managing 6 characters in real time mode without a proper…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel stands out as one of the more experimental titles in the long-running Fallout series, offering a unique take on the franchise’s familiar post-apocalyptic setting. Developed by 14° East and originally released in 2001, the game takes a notable departure from the role-playing formula that made Fallout 1 and 2 so iconic. Instead, it emphasizes tactical combat and squad management, framing the Brotherhood of Steel as the focal point of the player’s journey. By…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A bit of a black sheep in the series Fallout Tactics is not really a classic Fallout RPG. It’s much more focused on tactical squad combat, and on higher difficulties positioning, weapon choice and burst fire control become really important It’s faster and much more combat-focused than the main games. The story and some of the world also feel a bit different, so it can feel strange at first. It’s basically Fallout mixed with X-COM, and once you accept that, there’s a lot of fun to be had +…

unlabelledView post →I'm the world's only shooter for Fallout Tactics. It's not a good fallout game, but it's a reasonably good Jagged Alliance-like, and as mentioned before, when I'm playing with action figures, it matters if I like the action figures.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Believe it or not, but Tactics is my favorite game of the entire Fallout series. Squad based version, similar play style as F1 and F2. Story is mid and moves you through the boards, but game play is phenomenal! If you're able to get back into the original Fallout style, this is a no brainer and a great time!
