I love beat em ups. But this game has so many shortcomings with a lot of wasted potential. 1. Running attacks cost health. What were they thinking? 2. The enemies are either too strong or too weak. But one thing, everyone dies too fast. 3. There should be a way to compensate for using specials. 4. The movement in the game can be a bit lacking. 5. The super feels unnecessary. 6. The combo system is unfulfilling. It works nice in certain fights, but you have to constantly hit people. 7.…

Ok, so, this game is interesting. I think a lot of the critisicisms here in other reviews are definitely valid, I feel the game is being misunderstood. First off, it has been designed with score chasing in mind. So lots of enemies with low health that you are meant to juggle around and attempt to get as many hits in on as possible before they die to get your combo meter high to net you more gems and coins. Gems fill your super meter. There are 3 levels of supers. The first does a screen wide…

If you're going in thinking Double Dragon Gaiden or Streets of Rage 4, your hopes will be dashed. This isn't even as good as the original Streets of Rage for the Mega Drive. Bare bones side scroller beat-em-up. Hit-box is terrible, controls are not responsive and feel stiff, every character feels the same, music is meh..hard pass, not even if it was on sale. Took the refund.

Video: https://youtu.be/6dQBrhzbhn4 An excellent Beat 'em Up that's somewhere between Streets of Rage and Final Fight, if I had to list two games that really capture the essence of everything that makes a Beat 'em up great. There are 7 stages, so you can certainly finish the game in less than an hour. We've got 4 characters to play as, which each have their own special move. 1. Sgt Clay is my favorite character. He's quick, does relatively good damage, and has a shotgun as his special move.…

Review After 100% Achievements Choose between four characters and two difficulties (default & hard) before you set out to clear seven stages of bad guys. This is a simple beat ‘em up that is clearly inspired by games like Streets of Rage & Final Fight. Hitboxes need a little work, but as a whole, I didn’t experience any crashes or game breaking bugs. Short and simple game to 100%...I knocked out all achievements in 1.5 runs which took roughly an hour or so. The different characters were fun…

Forgotten Brawl: Empty-Calorie Beat-’Em-Up Far from terrible, but a few missteps keep it from being a recommendation. It’s got that janky M.U.G.E.N. feel, much like Slave Zero X from last year—same chunky hitboxes, same floaty pacing. I just 1CC’d it on Hard expecting a little more, maybe a TLB, but nothing. Feels like a passion project made by some college students. Or a community mod for an already established game. It looks great though, I love the style. Overall, It's pretty easy. It…

After beating the game three times in about 90 minutes (plus the tutorial, playing in the options, and watching the seemingly unskippable credits) I wasn't sure if I would recommend this game or not. Ultimately, is the game fun? Honestly, kinda yeah; the combo system gives you a huge window to deal damage to make up for low damage of each hit, the weapon system is a good way to differentiate characters, and the Gem/Coin system is genuinely really smart risk/reward design that gives the player…

Only an hour in and it has soul so I will not return it. I will play it to completion, but it is severely jank. Some boss attack animations are unreadable and some of the lanes look like they line up but you whiff. Hitboxes are bigger than the sprites. I'm hoping for a patch.

Fallen City Brawl is the little Beat Em Up that could, in context of being developed by one person the game holds a lot of potential and for the low price is a recommend from us!! Visual Shock (Graphics: 3/5) Pros: - Charming aesthetic if you fancy a trip back to mid 90s pc gaming with MS-DoS games, you know what I'm talking about! - usage of score pop ups, visual effects gives the game some the extra pop it needs - characters stand out in front of the backgrounds clear enough to see the…

This game need a little more work. However, this is a great beat'em up overall. A lot easier than other beat'em up games I have played. I played it like Street of Rage. Using the Blitz attack not realizing I was losing health by doing so and I still obtain over 100 lives by doing combos on hard mode. It is only one thing I hate about this game and that is the homing missiles. Even if you are knocked down to the ground before the missile hit you. they will hover over you until you get up and…

Fun until the game just ends :( Was expecting some difficulty, but I finished it on my first try, and this was under an hour. If it was under an hour and had some replayability, I would not have refunded this. Game has a lot of love and is clearly inspired by the greats (SoR/Final Fight), but just doesn't have the lasting appeal, and needs something like 1. longer stages. 2. more stages. 3. More modes 4. Difficulty options (the game is too easy)

After a long delay, Fallen City Brawl from Fallen City Studio and published by Eastasiasoft delivers a gritty, arcade-style beat-’em-up that feels straight out of the late '80s or early ’90s. It’s short, but that’s always been part of the appeal of games in this genre. With big detailed sprites, a varied set of characters, an incredible soundtrack, combos, special attacks, and coin collecting, it keeps you fighting to the very end. It captures the spirit of the beat 'em up genre…

I really like this game. I've played through with two characters so far, and will definitely go through with all four at the very least. I love the art, music, combat-- pretty much everything. Seeing the chaos erupt when summoning the ninjas with full gems is glorious. Launching enemies into the walls and then juggling them never gets old. I kind of moved away from this genre after the 16-bit days, finding most modern entries kind of repetitive and boring. But this game just clicked with…

Very fun game! Some might say it’s short, but personally, I don’t expect a beat ’em up to last 50 hours. The controls are smooth and intuitive. It’s all about brawling. You’re not here to overthink things and that’s exactly what I’m looking for in this kind of game: a fun, cathartic experience to blow off some steam. The art style is interesting and the visual effects are cool! The music is good overall and really adds to the atmosphere. Obviously, the three-continue system, combined with…

There are worst beat'em up on Steam but that doesn't mean this is a good one. Other reviewers made a good list of all the shortcomings it has but imho the worst was its absurd timing and hitbox system: there are many times you can't even get up from the ground without being beaten again. Anyway it' less than 1 hour long so you can just play it, see for yourself how bad it is and then refund it. I would recommend it only on a strong sale and if you really run out of options on other beat'em ups

Score attack meets brawler. That's how I look at the game. The game is very retro arcade and doesn't even hide from it. The over exaggeration of the score count getting bigger as you light up the score gives it the immediate impression. While you can play it as a simple beat em up, the game actually encourages you to grab all the gems to unleashed level 3 supers so you can get the 5X score multipliers. Positives 1. The hit mechanic is satisfying and has weight. 2. The soundtrack has that…

WOW, reminds me so much of Streets of Rage! Of course it brings me back to my youth while popping quarters into the machine just to try and beat a stage in game! For a game under 20$ you've got great replay value, and multiple stages that provide for solo or co-op play. But music is amazing. 4 characters to play. 7 stages Fun with replay abilty 8.5/10 game for me Boss-Specific Breakdown: Stage 1: Machine Gunner – Avoid standing directly in front of him to stay clear of his linear gunfire. Good game. I like the art style. Length is just about right. Combat is alright. In general the game has potential but lots of things feel like they should be improved. I wish for more fight moves, charge attacks, useful specials with a good balancing for health regain and more animation frames.

Short and sweet. Characters are fun to play, combat is crunchy and satisfying, sounds and music is on point. It's certainly worth a couple of playthroughs. My only gripe is the bosses are defeated as easy as the enemies, they could certainly use maybe a break bar or different phases. Overall a solid beat em up.

A classic old school beat-em-up that has potential and style, but isn't breaking any boundaries. There is room for Beat-em-ups like this. Fallen City Brawl is something you can play compete and come back to for the rest of the story and characters. Lean back into your chair press some combos then unleash chaos and watch the screen explode. I say this is old school cause you get what you pay for. Punch, kick, unleash. It's a solid entry that I could see being bigger, with a bigger team.

I am a 44 year old gamer who grew up with Beat em ups and enjoy most of them. However Fallen City Brawl has too many glaring issues that can't allow me to recommend. You do TOO little damage to the enemy while they do so much and spam attacks over and over to where unless you are lucky to break out of. there are barely ANY health powerups to speak of, they are there but so rare might as well not even be in the game. The difficulty is unfair because of the spam attacks the damage I would…
