Interesting game in theory, but the execution leaves a LOT to be desired. The biggest problem by far is the combat, specifically the fact that it's awful and you deal with it constantly. The player character is sluggish and unresponsive, every action seems to take twice as long as it should. Most enemies exhibit basically the same behavior patterns, which are easily exploitable. It seems to want to offer a kind of deliberate, analytical play, but lacks the nuance or the variety to pull that…

Description In contrast to the first review around 2017, the game mechanics has changed. Even though I was approached rather rudely by the developer and another user (maybe a twink) for the review at the time, they seem to have taken it to heart in the meantime, because the criticized snooping mechanics on the part of Unity have been deactivated. There is only one request left where this is declared. What does this product do? Fall of Light: Darkest Edition opens a connection to Unity…

Thanks to the developers at RuneHeads and the publisher 1C Company(who knew they were still around?) for creating and distributing a good game for me to escape, explore and enjoy. *Note There is a demo for Fall of Light. I would recommend go and try as it is an excellent representation of the game. I do not know if it receives patches. A few years ago i reviewed  a game, Aarklash Legacy(2013), that at the time ignored everything that was expected to be in an rpg by stripping itself down to…

I just finished the demo, and wow, I love it. Here are my notes: 1. People say this is like Dark Souls, BUT... I want to clarify this. Fall of Light is its own game. Yes, you die a lot like Dark Souls and the number crunching is minimal. You have squares that represent HP, you start with 5, so it's very simple, but not in a bad way. I like number crunching a lot, but I was not detered by this system. But this game is very much different. I love the camera (it does not jack with you), I love…

"Inspired by" is lightly used here, this is pretty much Dark Souls from a diablo perspective. Controls and combat feel wonky at first but once you get a hang of it, its not too bad. +Environments are interesting and feel lived-in +Challenging +Dark Souls-esque -Hitboxes could use some work -Wonky controls feel a bi sluggish -Could use more bosses

Fall of Light was one of my more anticipated games of 2017. So, I was pretty thrilled when a copy slid across the ethereal surface of my existential desk. I have a particular love and fascination with Soulsborne games, and this seemed like it might fill the void between Dark Souls 3 and whatever new IP FromSoft is working on. That said, I also was careful to temper my expectations. I loved Darkmaus, but it wasn’t without flaws, and I figured this Indie might be similar given its isometric…

The game doesn't tell you that when you beat one of the shard bosses, you have to carry the girl to a far away, unique shrine that for the vast majority of players, probably had gotten to the dungeon before even coming across this place. Why is this a bad thing? Because if you don't make it in time, it's literally game over! You have to start from the very beginning of the game, and not just a checkpoint, if you want to get the correct ending. This mechanic appeared over four hours into the…

Overall it is not my type of game. I do love the artwork, and game looks good in story. I do wish they add an easy mode beyond normal. I am not the best action player so after awhile I lose focus and give up. Going back to other games. Would love to finish this game though. And i would recomend it to people who like harder action game.

I honestly gave this game a chance, but I just couldn't get into it due to the combat, it feels way too clunky. In the 80 minutes or so I played this I wanted to uninstall it several times. Overall it just wasn't a fun experience.

I first thought I should have copied/pasted a negative review for this copied/pasted Dark Souls (more than ICO), but I'm not that kind of guy so I'm writing a proper review. The first thing about the game which really annoys me is the intro. It's literally copied from Dark Souls. Here is the DS [url= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vpAqgIe05So&feature=youtu.be&t=56s] original intro vs [url= https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xBmH-p2cnFY&feature=youtu.be&t=38s] FoL intro. A decent hidden gem, with a concept far stronger than its execution. Close to meet with realistic Expectations, missing it for slightly broken combat Expectations, that an important factor when one of the most influential games is being tackled by a small team, where bigger studios have failed before. Short version Fall of Light is alright, it has its ups and downs, it serves a purpose if you so desperately need your DS fix. The low price for this genre, certainly fits with the less than…

A really nice game, it is worth buying. I had the chance to talk with the team during the Milan's Games Week! they were extremely kind and shared many tech aspects of the game. They have worked hard to create a great atmosphere that will accompany you during the whole game ...and the final result is just amazing!

THIS GAME IS VERY HARD FOR PLAYERS WHO PLAY WITH A KEYBOARD. THE BEST WAY IS PLAY IT WITH A CONTROLLER, OR U WILL FEEL BORED WITH ENDLESS DEATH . I HOPE DEVELOPERS CAN DESIGN A MORE INTERESTING COLLECTION SYSTEM AND ESAYER MODES.

Games like this never cease to amaze me. I mean, seriously. It's like Beavis and Butt-head, sitting in their parents' basement and thinking “Dude, those games are so cool, we should make our own one like that!”. Without knowing a freakin' thing about game development. And that's, ladies and gentlemen, is the exact story of Fall of Light. The guys called Matteo Sciutteri and Cristian Marastoni loved Dark Souls and ICO. I mean... who doesn't? They've decided that it'll be cool to make their own…

While the game looks pretty, it seems like it is a badly ported console game. Input lag is a huge issue. Click keys, and *maybe* the game will register the input within the next few seconds, Maybe. The voice overs were bland, often sounding like a bored teen was reading them. The narrative pacing, as well as the pacing of the intro movie was abysmally slow, and dragggggggggged on, with odd pauses, where there should have been none. In English, at least. The input lag or non-recognition of…

The game itself looks ok, but playing it feels awfully wrong. The controls are fine (besides not explaining anything properly. Didn't know I could heal until I tried every button randomly), but the biggest problem this game has is an unresponsive combat. You barely notice getting hit real hard and you don't get a feel for your own hits. They feel lame and boring. If you really want to try it out/ feel the need to do so, I actually think there are some people who might enjoy this game a lot.…

At first glance it seemed like a neat little top down action game, It was simple but i liked the premise and the idea of your light source being your source of strength was pretty interesting overall. But once you get past the tutorial area it just falls apart. It tries to mimmick Dark Souls but the controlls are outright terrible with punishing checkpoints and enemies who will just basically take you out instantly. Combat and dodging/blocking clash and you cant seemlessly go between the two.…

At first this game will frustrate you as it has a decently steep learning curve. However once you get the mechanics down it is a very fun game with a lot of variation between weapons and tactics. The story is intriguing and, while the plot moments are interesting and well thought out. The response by the game authors when posting in forums is insanely good. I have never gone 24 hours without a post being answered or a problem addressed.

The game is really good for the first 30 min then it’s get just frustrating as the save points in dark souls the fire are very bad and you have to run long distance over and over again. I think my feedback are represented in the achievement after the point I played everyone gives up and delete the game. Next boss achievement rate drops to 2% and that tells you everything. I love games like darks souls I finished all of them and also the spinoffs but this one is not to hard just to frustrating.

It's like a Souls game without any of the charm or skill in presentation. The world looks like an early ps2 game with extra bloom. I tried it after seeing how 1.17 fixed the combat and I shudder to think how bad it was before because it still isn't good. With games like Monster Hunter and Dark Souls/Bloodborne under my belt I'm not exactly a stranger to combat that takes something more than just running in and swinging a giant sword. No, I’m not a Dark Souls fan. I tried playing Dark Souls and Dark Souls 3 and did not enjoy much. Too difficult and very unforgiving. Also gargantuanly huge. This has the potential to be a great game; but, there is a number of things wrong with it. Having to roll out of the way of incoming fireballs that the first flame knight uses in the cemetery just doesn't work well with the fixed and tilted bird eye view of the camera. And given how quickly both you and the enemy move, the requirement to aim somewhat precisely doesn't work well either - you'll swing in the direction you're facing and you can't adjust the mouse sensitivity to turn more slowly. If there wasn't a stamina mechanic, it would kinda work, but like this, the combat feels…

It's a little difficult on your first few playthroughs but gets easier after you memorize the maps and the locations of powerful weapons. Exact same imagery, similar dialogue, and want to be narrator. Whatever though, this has no bearing on the game itself, it's a bit undeserved. The controls for using a controller are broken. So far so good, although the camera is troublesome in certain parts and some areas of the game are way too dark no matter how much you increase the brightness.

controls are sluggish un-intuitive and game breaking. apparently its better with a controller. Game was not engaging enough for me to go into the next room and grab mine. I was just annoyed too much by the voice acting and controls.

Edit as of 15.12.17: The developer has clearly been listening to feedback, and have made improvements. Very happy about that. However the combat is still not fluent enough and the game really suffers from it still. Game just fails to engage me I'm afraid. Not a bad game, like a 6/10 ish. Try it if it's on sale. Had hopes for this and I really wanted to like this, but in the end it came up short. I dont mind the simple graphics or cheap sound effects. I like the atmosphere. I like the premise…
