DISCLAIMER: I know the developer personally so I may be biased in my review. So when reading this - do take it with a grain of salt, as I wish the Dev the best of success with this game. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I've played a fair bit more of this game on the development build - and now that it is out, I can actually write a review. Fairtravel Battle plays a bit like a mix between Hearthstone and Magic the Gathering. It…

TL;DR If you're a fan of casual CCGs and looking for a fun, laidback time sink, this game is great and worth the price. Gameplay feels like a good mix of Magic, Hearthstone, and Lorcana. More detailed review below — Pros - - Great formula for card acquisition, deckbuilding, and crafting. - No microtransactions or ai slop - Multiple fun game modes including options for 1v1 and multiplayer, plus Draft and Sealed - Several matchmaking options for online play as well as CPU opponents -…

The anti-live-service TCG we actually needed. If you are tired of the endless monetization and aggressive battle passes of Hearthstone, Magic, or Yu-Gi-Oh, Fairtravel Battle is a breath of fresh air. It truly respects your time. Because there are no predatory microtransactions or randomized card packs to buy, your progress comes entirely from playing the game and deckbuilding at your own pace. The unique resource system completely eliminates getting mana-screwed, meaning matches are decided…

What can I say? It's awesome, and so long as the devs don't get lazy this could be one of the best card games ever. There are tons of people who play Hearthstone/Magic/Yugioh who are absolutely sick of the gacha mechanics (I definitely am). Getting cards is a lot more common just because there's no microtransactions. You don't feel like the game is giving you the bare minimum to keep you playing, and there isn't any scummy design like Marvel Snap. It's also quite polished for an indie game.…

Extremely promising little CCG! Some of the UI could use some work and we need a lot more cards, but that's what Early Access is for! I feel like it's still well worth the cost in its current state though.

I like this game a lot! Found the demo a few days before the game released, and I was hooked, even if I never got to play against any other people. My one (very small) gripe from a design perspective is that it's incredibly easy to splash an extra color/essence into your deck to get access to extra removal or tech cards - most of them only need 1 of their respective type of essence, so you can take just one turn off from gathering your main essences to get the one for your tech cards (or just…

One of the best digital card games I've played, despite some janky menus. The UI and UX is definitely rough around the edges, and the cardpool is a bit limited (but still deep enough to make tons of interesting strategies work), but everything else about this game is fantastic. First of all, having the game be microtransaction free (besides some cosmetics) is a refreshing take on a business model for a collectible card game. I've loved card games all of my life, but you always have the…

This is a quite unique ccg developed by a single dev. I really enjoyed play testing it during the alpha a couple of years ago. There are no hidden micro transactions, etc, as you can unlock all of the game's content just by playing.

This is a fun, intuitive & surprisingly nuanced deck builder that actually lets you amass a hefty collection of cards without microtransactions or too heavy a grind. On the surface, it's a bit like MTG crossed with Hearthstone, but with just a bit of time it reveals its own unique flow to strike a perfect balance of relaxing & engaging. There's a multitude of modes, a healthy set of cards, a satisfying stream of rewards/customisation &, maybe most exciting, NPCs can (optionally) use decks…

My only experience in card games is basically YuGiOh. So I sorta expect myself to struggle learning a new card game, surprised to say, it took me less than 1h to get the gist of it. I could see myself introducing this to a few friends and see how far the current card pool can take us. There's massive room for improvements, but the important part is the card game itself which functions well.

Fairtravel Battle fits in a solid place in the CCG niche right now. It plays like a middle ground between MTG and Hearthstone, while handling some of the age old issues people have had with their rules. First and foremost: THERE'S NO MICROTRANSACTIONS, BATTLE PASSES, ETC, and NO AI USED. (There is placeholder artwork, but also non-AI) Second: FTB is also DRM-free, even through Steam. One thing that MTG players may appreciate is how energy gain is handled. Instead of having to build with…

Gameplay is similar to card games like Hearthstone, though it has a unique mana ramping mechanic for a bit of spice. As of now there are some power outliers in the card pool on both the weaker and stronger side, with power mostly leaning in the 3 mana cards. If you want to be able to play with other people, most of the time it's necessary to go to the game's Discord and ping LFG, and solo content is pretty shallow besides that. There is confirmation of a larger solo mode coming out in the…

I've only played a handful of card battler games (MTG and Hearthstone primarily) so in the realm of that, I'm basically a casual. For the life of me I couldn't tell you whether this game is balanced or not. So here's what I can tell you about this game: It works. By which I mean it is a fully working game without requiring you to register at a separate service, without even having an internet connection (I assume, I didn't test that), and without having to get your wallet out a second time…

It's a fun card battle game that DOESN'T try to bilk more money out of you every other screen. The community seems a bit small as of yet but the game is well worth the price asked and hopefully more people will come and play.

I did get my key for free when the dev(s?) were working on it originally so I could help playtest, which I barely did and forgot to do with my ADHD and the devs let me keep the game, so that's awesome of them. I am sure some balancing in card changes and adding in more cards would be appreciated, but this is quite fun to play. No MTX or paying to get more cards just simply playing I got most of the cards already. I will say I do not understand the Explorer mode as it seems to never end?…

There's potential here. A ruleset inspired by the mana system of games such as Kaijudo, a modestly competent AI that can be made dumber if the user desires, and a decent amount of flexibility in setting up custom game rules. And if the idea of being hit with a grind wall for collection bothers you, look up the "Redeem Rewards" codes available to bypass it. No idea why a game like this built around a one-time purchase needed to keep the trappings of F2P games (Daily Quests, weekly redeems,…

A dozen hour into this EARLY-ACCESS game and I fallen in love of how much friendly the game is. Especially the many Single-Player feature. Unlike other CCG that has like premium currency you have grind so much for and many micro-transaction for many card, you don't have to worry about it in this game. And if you looking to get more card, there's a mod workshop. It's small at the moment but I'm trying to mod this game. Hope you have fun! ^_^

Amazing indie card game, this is basically mtg arena but with less cards and less predatory practices. This game also solves the design problem with lands via quest cards that are never completely dead draws. Card selection is quite limited at the moment and there are some niche balance issues but I really enjoy it.

With time, I believe this game will realize its real potential. Although lacking a bit of polish here and there and not being backed up by any sort of known IP, it makes up for that with very fun and interactive mechanics that provide quick and easy to learn fun, as well as single player/cooperative PVE modes against strong bosses, reminiscent of older card games. I leave this early recommendation because I want other people to get to know this game, and give their own feedback so it can…

This game combines the best aspects of Magic: The Gathering, Hearthstone, Sorcery, and Lorcana into a cute and furry shell with lovely hand-drawn cards and an astonishing amount of card and art variety. It also does 4-way EDH-style multiplayer + variants both with CPU and human opponents. That's super amazing and I can't wait to try a full 4 player human pod. (but comp-stomping with a friend and 2…

Have you ever wished for a CCG that lets you get new cards for free, is fun, can be played PVP and PVE, and has absolutely zero microtransactions? I know I did. And this game came just at the right time. The gameplay is fun and engaging and I have absolutely no complaint on it: reminds me of Hearthstone and old MTG from back when I was a child, although you'll never risk getting mana screwed thanks to its resource system which may take some time to adjust to. I've played quite a bit of the demo already. I was a long-time fan of Hearthstone, but it got too expensive both with time and money to keep up with. I really appreciate what this game is doing, letting you pay one price for the game and offering endless modes of draft, sealed, standard, and even letting you make your own modes to play. Among many TCG and CCG games, this one stands out because it is so honest and fair. It is fun to play from the outset, and it lacks the kind of traps that make a player regret getting into it down the line. The gameplay clearly takes inspiration from classics like MtG and Hearthstone, but offers some elegant solutions to smooth out the experience. I'm weird and just want to play against the computer. It has up to 4 player games. Although I want to be picky about the layout at least the option is there. This game has some really good bones for a digital tcg. I think the creator really has a good idea of what they want a competitive card game to be. Its a clever mix of all the greats, (Magic, hearthstone, and yugioh) but no card is wasted and there seems to be a lot of fun and viable stategies. Keep up the good work! I love this game!
