So, "Star Trek: Picard" established that as a cadet, Jean-Luc Picard served aboard the USS Leondegrance under Captain Nyota Uhura. In Arthurian Legend, Leondegrance was the name of Guinevere's father. In the 1981 movie "Excalibur," King Leondegrance was played by Patrick Stewart.

Watching John Boorman's EXCALIBUR (1981). It is a decidedly STRANGE viewing experience, and I can see why it divides people. There is an artificiality to everything, but it also looks just GORGEOUS. It sort of feels like it's half movie, half stage play...and is very sparse in it's storytelling.

I saw The Odyssey w/ my 12 who loved it like I loved Excalibur when I was his age. Some scenes will stay w/ me, the movie prob not. I asked a friend who studies ancient Greek. She wouldn't comment on Nolan, but told me to watch The Return. My god, I made it 1/2 hr before I was overwhelmed by grief.

The Odyssey (2026) is very much Nolan's Excalibur (1981) which I think is a VERY conscious choice, like there's so much Boorman floating around this movie once you see the connection the ending can't help but feel like a deliberate allusion to Zardoz
