60 of 189 · most liked first(Game has finally been updated, but leaving the review up for archival purposes, as it was still, for lack of a better word, ♥♥♥♥♥♥ of the devs to leave the PC version abandoned for so long) ===== The game is pretty solid, BUT NOT THIS VERSION. As of writing this review, the PC version of this game is on version 1.6 (the Assimilation update), whereas the oculus quest version of the game is on VERSION 1.9, where not only have they added QoL features like a new (and better) menu system, but new…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned for the Quest version. At least give the people who bought it on Steam a Quest key since you won't properly support this release anymore.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is a ton of fun, but the devs seem to have abandoned this version of the game in favor of the quest release. This one hasn't received any of the new patches or content the quest version has seen and for some people (myself included) the game no longer even launches.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abadonware. Ditched in favor of the Quest 2 version.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah you might be better off buying palov or freakin' Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades. Because Get this, There is ANOTHER version for the quest 2 witch is has better, more content AND QoL fixes, Oh it still receives updates to this day. This here is abandoned, Expect No updates or content. Why did they do this? i do not understand but it was a dumb thing to do. Again, I recommend the either two games above.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Abandoned by the devs! I bought this game on release and while it was decent there was still some jank to be fixed. But it looks like it will never be fixed as the game is completely abandoned for the Quest version.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is good. It’s a Splinter Cell game in VR. BUT the steam version (Update 1.6) is not the newest version (Update 1.8 – Quest version). The devs have abandoned the game – PC version. I recommend getting the game directly in the Quest story, or to wait for a 90% sale on Steam.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Publisher is openly sexist
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Buy the Oculus Quest 2 Version, it's more updated and less bugged (probably) since the steam version is very outdated
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quite solid and fun stealth experience, for a game that has been released back in 2019. Yet it still got some updates in 2024👍 Graphics look alright and gameplay-wise very playable with some modern settings. Thus you can adjust Controls, Grip/ Hold Comfort, smooth turn settings etc. Con Occasional repetitiveness and bugs, such as enemies glitching in and through walls.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, but as other reviews have stated it's another in a series of games abandoned on PC for Quest. Get it there instead, preferably on sale.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not the most advanced stealth game ever and the AI are potatoes, but it's competent enough to enjoy and I love playing a game set in Australia.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Even after the patches I really can't recommend Espire 1 to anyone. The level design is quite bad for a stealth game, the story and writing is pretty bland, the controls get confused very easily over what item you want to grab, and the worst part is probably that the main missions are locked away until you complete some lame challenges. This should be optional content, not being forced in between story missions. Who thought this was a good idea? Anyhow, I got bored rather quickly with this game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've tried to play this game on like 8 different occasions and every time I get fed up with the multitude of amateurish mistakes and quit around the third level. Right off the bat the game shows HTC Vive controllers in the menus even though I have a Quest 3. Why show controllers at all? Just show the character's hands. You get into the game, grab a gun, and realize the controllers aren't aligned properly. You put your gun away and it seems to switch holsters at random, so when you need it most…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I bought the game for $8 thinking it was nowhere near as bad as the reviews would indicate and - I was wrong. Even with the the public beta, the AI and basic gameplay elements seem fundamentally broken. I shot at a guard, he raised his hands in the freezing motion, and the security indicated it was lessening it's alert when it was never even active in the first place...whatever. After a near 2 hours, I didn't have any desire to continue. I'm a bit older now and VR games in general have…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ignore the 'mixed' review status. This game is currently $24, and it's a total steal at that price. There's still a touch of jank here and there, but just pick it up and give it a go - you wont be disappointed! Oh, and turn comfort mode off for the best experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Boring, poor map design, poor optimization, and far too easy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Flung myself into a window and dropped kicked someone in the face
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is unreal that only 4% of players actually played the story. That means literally 96% of people didn't even finish the full Tutorial experience. Take it from someone who actually played the game that this is worth the ride. It is a short experience but that is because I didn't go super stealthy in my run.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →already amazing game, which the developers continue to support and add content and fixes to. its a shame they got downsized, even though this was a banger. hoping for an espire 2 pc port. maybe one day
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has so much potential, it sucks that it doesn't live up to it. The most glaring issue is the AI, they are not threatening at all. They take forever to spot you (even at the highest difficulty) and are not very accurate, giving you plenty of time to kill them before they alert anyone else. As a stealth game it gives you no incentive to actually be stealthy, I just killed an elite trooper, took his gun and started running around like a maniac shooting everything in sight and not caring…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forget bad reviews. Game is good. Some jank here and there but still an amazing experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No no no why do I need to do side challenges during the "main story'' do you realize how much of a fun runner that is? No really I'm having fun running around shooting guns to be told i have to do a forced stealth mission where I can't is gut wrenching why would you do it this way this was clearly done as a pathetic decision to artificially pad out the game. Going from shooting guns like a mad robot in control to be told I have to do sneaky missions otherwise that woman tells me mission…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm going to be honest, this game has that stealth feature, if you try really hard to tell yourself that. I'm also pretty upset that I did not remember to refund this game earlier so I could've spent my money on something else that's actually worth playing. This game has been completely discontinued, stripped of any detail that the "screenshots" provided, 1/10, its an overall game that looks good but doesn't provide what they offer, comfort settings make things completely oblivious to anything…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Seeing this game has mixed reviews, I thought I'd give any readers my thoughts. People's complaints about poor climbing functionality or anything related is because they have poor tracking. I use a CV1 Oculus headset with 3 wall-mounted cameras. You would think a old headset like the CV1 would experience these issues, yet I've experienced none whatsoever. This game implements unique experiences & a decent story, but of course that would be subjective to your taste in games. At least give it a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not perfect, but still pretty solid gameplay! The good: - many fun and challenging challenges! - stealth game style is fully optional :D, you can just kill them all - a lot of content for many hours of gameplay (6 long missions and A LOT of cool challenges) The bad: - climbing, grabbing and throwing with grip buttons is awkward - shotgun reloading OMG - visual effects could be better - some random bugs (can't heal 100%, weapon gets stuck in a wall or flies away when climbing...) To improve:…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid VR Stealth Game Makes you feel like a robot version of Sam Fisher prowling in the shadows. The level design is pretty open and makes you think how to stay hidden. Hide in vents, behind crates, and in the shadows. Stealth is optional in this game, but makes it a fun personal challenge (at least on Normal mode). The main campaign is about 5-6 hours long. However, there is more content in terms of "Challenges" which consists of various short levels with different scenarios ranging from…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Please don't let the mixed reviews dissuade you, Espire 1 had a rough launch trying to support all available platforms at once, which didn't work out well (and is also why Espire 2 started out as a Quest exclusive, focusing on the most popular platform first and porting everywhere else once the game was fully polished, although the devs currently lack the resources to do the porting work to PC sadly). The PC version of Espire 1 was also abandoned for about a year, but LODE have since updated…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a lot of potential, and I can see what they were going for, but I don't think they accomplished it, and I really didn't enjoy it. It feels like an early access game. I know it's fairly old, but the gun play is just not fun. Which has nothing to do with how old it is. The original Arizona Sunshine has great gun play, and it's older than this. ADSing was not an enjoyable experience with anything but the dart gun. It just felt awkward and the recoil was crazy. The AI is also…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Works on Reverb G2. This is a neutral review. Espire 1 is not nearly as bad as review score suggests: it is flawed and a bit outdated, but the core gameplay is still fun. A lot of negative reviews were caused by a rough launch and long pause between updates for PC version, but now a lot of things are fixed and improved. Stealth aspect works well, if you are willing to play by its rules: environments are fun to traverse and hide around, melee takedowns are physical and satisfying, there are a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →We are so back and SOLID
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →And no one hears a word they say Has the memory gone? Are you feeling numb? Not a word they say But a voiceless crowd isn't backing down When the air turns red With their loaded hesitation Can you say my name? Has the memory gone? Are you feeling numb? Have we all become invisible? IT'S LITERALLY THE SOLID SNAKE GAME!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This version is completely broken, atleast played on a quest 2 using virtual desktop, however i did play the game on standalone and this review will be based on that. This game is fun at times however its whole purpose as a stealth game is meaningless as you can go guns blazing with almost no consequence because your character is near invincible with the repair tool. Furthermore, enemies forget about you less than 5 minutes after detection.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Terrible detection on grabbing which is very important in this game. Especially when it forces you to do multiple climbing challenges.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work with Pico Neo 4 Controllers. At this time I cannot recommend it, as the developers seem to have ceased support for the PC VR version of this game (we are at 1.6, occulus is at 1.8)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Movement is a mess. Accuracy is a joke, don't even bother trying to use iron sights. Level design is bland and gameplay feels like the earliest prototypes of cover shooters. Motion sickness prevention is very heavy handed Quest users beware, controller mapping took about a third of my time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →tl;dr - Kind of fun game but not worth $30. This is definitely one of those games where a star rating would be better. I'd give this game three stars, but only because I got it as part of a Humble Bundle. IMO this game is not worth $30. (To be fair, I've only completed the main "mission" and haven't played all the challenges.) A lot of the game graphics make me recall Garry's Mod. I'm not sure where the high res graphics in the screenshots are from. What I played didn't look anywhere near as…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Half hour and no motion sickness. im impressed.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is excellent now. I tried it when it first came out and something was off, hard to put my finger on it. Its in a great state now. A lot of fun. Best vr stealth game I've tried. Thanks to the team for making it great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun VR stealth action game with high replayability. Now that the features are on par with the Quest version, I can leave a positive review!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Finally tried this game seeing the new update. Was unplayable on my 4090, lots of stuttering/tearing/jumping regardless of CPU/GPU frametimes. Screen also kept flickering black. Index pistol angle is ridiculous and unusable. Smooth turn is very slow even on fast mode, and also has acceleration.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Doesn't work You can't even hold a grip to open the first door. It only works on just on some older generations of VR devices and not newer ones. Skip this, they didn't care to fix it so you should bother to buy this. This is an embarrassment.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gameplay is actually fun on the whole. Exactly, but: 1. There is no real campaign, it's loosely connected missions, so there is no progress at all, something like that doesn't motivate me for long. 2. Who the hell came up with the absurd idea to include this totally inappropriate 80's porn music? Well, at least you can turn it off. 3. And this is the worst for me: these super annoying beep sounds when moving/rotating, because these you can't turn them off without the game…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Frustrating. The best word to describe Espire 1 is frustrating. Frustrating because when Espire 1 works, it’s amazing. One of the best stealth experiences I’ve ever had, which is high praise coming from of hardcore Metal Gear fan. But the issue is that this game rarely ever works. Your constantly fighting against it to get it to work. The AI in the game is just straight up bad. It’s inconsistent, spots you when you shouldn’t be spotted, and misses you when your walking right in front of it, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If I'd have paid more than 2$ i'd be furious, but for those 2 bucks it is a good game. Don't know why but my game looked very blurry for some reason, AI could use some work and reloading mechanics are basic af. Nontheless I had fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Espire 1. I'm going to go ahead and say it right off the bat. As a serious fan of Stealth games, and an even bigger fan of Stealth Games that don't force you to kill everything in your path, Espire 1 is everything I wanted in a VR stealth title. I would absolutely recommend this game to anyone who loves these sorts of games, and has been playing VR for a while, as the controls, while epic, are hard to grasp if you are new to the VR style of controls. If you're new to VR, then, well, I'd…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →being able to threaten a npc with your real voice and have him react to it is awesome
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The gamplay mechanics are actually very good but they are ruined due to the bad level design/waypoint system and enemy ai being a bit too dumb.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had a TON of potential. But it's unfinished. There is a LOT to harp on about, such as the waypoint/objective marker system. TOTAL ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ unfortunately. As soon as you hit level 4, your directions are basically useless and lead you on and on in circles. The climbing is SUCH a cool mechanic and idea, but it's not without it's bugs. You can't grab anything off of your waist when you crouch down, as the game assumes you are trying to grab the floor or something else that's right next to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In the early days of ps vr it was a fun game, but it just doesn't compare to cheapest games today, worth only if its on a BIIIG sale
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When this game first came out on PSVR it was ahead of the game in what you could do in a VR game. Recently it has been updated for newer headsets. Still in some ways the mechanics in this game are no where in other VR titles such as camera's on the hand to peak around a corner or Verbally say freeze and the A.I react. It is one of my favorite stealth expierences VR has to offer. Reminds me of Metal Gear Solid in some cases. I highly recommend this game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Some of the trailers are really great. I definitely heard more about Espire 1 during Quest 1 early Q2 days than about Espire 2. The game itself has some interesting mechanics, they also released a mixed reality mode. If you’re on Quest, you can always use the [meta-dog website](https://meta-dog.github.io/meta-dog/) to get a random referral-discount and return it if you haven’t played more than 2h. Definitely worth checking out imo.
unlabelledView post →Ok. I've had this game since launch. Held off on my review hoping it would see improvements and it has. Not right away, BUT still it has gotten better with time. I like the new convergence update. Things a looking good. MY ONLY WISH is for collision when your hands interact with the environment. I understand this may effect "climbing" but it's 2023. VR hands really should not go through walls, actually grab weapons and items, and I don't think asking for a few gestures is overreaching. Anyhow…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a good game. It's cringe, controls are lame, feels like a kids game. Don't recommend to adult players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →probably the most buggy ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ vr game i have ever played
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →HUD covers a lot of screen, can't be turned off, breaks immersion. Devs abandoned PC version and went after Oculus money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pleasantly surprised by how fun the stealth action gameplay actually is, despite seeing the mixed reception on the game's Steam store page, however, I know now why that is. The main campaign is simply too short, with only six missions total which I completed in six hours. In between some missions, the game attempts to stretch out the playtime by roadblocking the player via challenges (fortunately the challenges are mostly simple and fun) which can be frustrating to be taken out of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not my cup of tea. I really wanted to enjoy it but has too many cons. -Graphics are pretty blah. Looks like a quest game. -Arcadey weapons handling. Its one of those swipe down to reload type games. In vr i like plenty of interaction. -Level design is unrealistic and lame. Just a bunch of hallways with pipes and wires hanging down for no reason other than to give you an opportunity to climb up and be stealthy. I cant recommend this. It needs to be priced closer to $15.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very boring and slow - just not fun at all. Watching paint dry is more enjoyable than playing this game
