Otherwise this game will simply turn you down. So in this game you are totally insane or probably under an experimental treatment Cliff Calo, a guy that wants back his father attentions or you are simply so obsessed with this that it completely ran you mad so you decide to go to the island of Narapela with a couple of friends to understand if it is somehow…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As a huge fan of Dead Island's franchise, I really enjoyed this game, it's not like dead island/riptide, Escape Dead Island you need to go on stealth many times this is the reason why I read so many people disliking this game >.>' , the story is very important, you need to get better gear to have access to doors and locations on the map, the map isn't huge but since you don't have that gear or card lvl you won't be able to have access, so after like 5 hours of game you get the gear and go back…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a bad spin-off of the franchise but definitely not up to it either. And while you think it's going as expected, the last mission requires psychotropic substances just to hypothesize about it!

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just waiting for Dead Island 2 Steam release!!! It has my girl Xian Mei so this is easily worth it. Can't play with her but she's got a cool wallpaper. Something to pass time with until Codex version of DI2 drops XD
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First spin-off in the Dead Island series that tries to change the format to a more linear narrative-driven third-person stealth action. After hearing the negative buzz and seeing the mixed reviews, I expected total, unadulterated garbage, but I was pleasantly surprised by the narrative aspects and decent gameplay. Don’t get me wrong, this isn't some secret hidden gem, and I wouldn't recommend it to most people. However, if you're curious and can stomach a lower-budget title, it can be quite…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No save game slot except current game. You can get trapped and have to start all over from begining. Story gets weak at the end. End levels aren't fun and seem cheap. DLC is terrible. Just made to be near impossible difficult. I hate the art style IMHO. Nor really a prequel.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A solid third person action adventure game. Quite linear overall, writing is about on par with the other Dead Island games (forgettable), but the combat is pretty fun, lots of collectables to find along the way and the use of the camera system to turn the environment into collectables was a neat concept. Controls can be janky at times and lack of ammo at crucial moments like a boss fight can be frustrating, but a great play overall for the price (when its on sale).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was having an enjoyable time with this game despite the cheesy dialogue, somewhat bland gameplay, and meh story. That was until I accidentally entered what I'm gonna assume is an end game dlc area(the underground lab on the way to the helipad.) The problem is there's no indication it's a dlc or that you CAN'T leave once you enter. This is very poor design on the devs part. The underground lab is annoying and one enemy two shots me while I do almost no damage. I'll sadly be dropping this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am still playing through this, but I am giving this one a recommend as I have been having fun with it. It is fairly linear, but I am digging the story. I got it on sale and I recommend you do the same.

There is a reason why the last achievement you receive is "What A Trip!" case in point no doubt these will be the words coming out of your mouth when you play this game "AHH WHERE AM I ?!" "WHAT IS THIS?! " "WHAT IS THAT?! " "WHO ARE YOU?! " "WHAT THE ♥♥♥♥ IS THAT?!" "WHY THE ♥♥♥♥ IS A TRAIN DOING HERE?!" "WHY IS THAT CAR FLYING?!" "WHY IS THE SUN FALLING?!" "SHADOW ZOMBIES?!…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very cluncky game that uses the Dead Island name in order to sell. The story is awfull and honestly... shadow zombies? WTF!? Some devs should avoid taking drugs while working....

To earn father’s nod, that distant acclaim – Yet something runs deeper… not all is the same. There’s dread in the cracks, a whisper, a bend, A truth that unravels the means and the end. positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good potential and very poor implementation. The worst part mandatory cut-scenes every time you lose. This game bringing more annoyance than joy.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If your looking for another Dead Island 1 or Riptide then you won't find it here. Stealth based gameplay with some combat. Game isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be but can also safely say it isn't a good game. Story is bad and a waste of time sadly and im happy that the game wasn't very long as I don't know how much of a game like this I could honestly take for long periods. If your looking to scratch that zombie itch go for the original 2 dead islands but if your simply curious and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It might not be entirely connected to Dead Island and has a different play style but it having "Dead Island" in the name is not why you should get this game anyways. If you have a Steam Deck, and the game is on sale, don't think twice and grab it. The visuals are amazing and the game runs at the highest settings at 60fps. The game forces you to manage your resources (ammo), play stealthy and think on how to approach a fight. As others said, this game is super trippy, and it kicks…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →"Escape Dead Island" offers a unique and atmospheric horror experience with a focus on psychological horror and a compelling narrative. While the gameplay mechanics may not be groundbreaking, the game's story and setting create a memorable and Pleasing experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A complete mess. The art style is the only interesting thing about it and even that wears thin quickly. Gameplay is boring, the story is forgettable and it has no reason to exist. Avoid.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There is a decent story somewhere in this game but you better watch it on Youtube. The gameplay (if you can call it that) became a real chore, especially towards the end. Also, those unskipable in-game scenes before the bigger fights were horrendously implemented and made the experience way worse.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game starts really slow but it picks ups and feels decent after a while. Or at it would be good if it didn't feel like it was done by a bunch of amateurs. There are terrible flaws that will frustrate you. Sadly can't recommend the game unless you find it on sale for like 1 buck or less. Should not have been associated with dead island at all.

When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Escape Dead Island is a pretty disappointing spin-off that feels like a cheap imitation of the games it's based on. The cel-shaded art style is actually pretty nice, but the gameplay is shallow and repetitive, with boring combat, very few weapons, and a painfully linear map that constantly has you running through the same areas. The story has a few interesting ideas, particularly with the hallucinations, but it's not enough to make the game worth playing. It feels more like a budget experiment…

The game is a third person action game with some REALLY iffy stealth elements and a framework that comes off as a metroidvania. Starting with the combat, one of the best parts about this game is that unlike the original Dead Island, you won’t be having to switch out weapons every five seconds and dealing with level gating…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I hadn't even heard of Escape Dead Island until a couple days ago but I finished it today. It's a bit of a confused game. Doesn't know if it wants to be a soulslike. Or a metroidvania. Or a stealth game. But I enjoyed it for what it was. Last boss was annoying though. An OK story but hokey dialogue.
unlabelledView post →Dead Island is one of my favorite franchises so I was sorta excited to play this game. Well, it's safe to say that it's not a pleasant experience. Let's start with the positives, I personally loved the cel-shaded art style they went for, it's not groundbreaking but it makes it stand out from the rest of the games in the franchise. And... that's the only good thing in this game. Now the bad: pretty much everything else. The combat is clunky, unsatisfying, and downright infuriating. Remember…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is based on 100% completion and 14.9 hours of gameplay. Recommendation: Would I recommend this game? Yes, I would. It’s not without its issues, but as a one-off experience, I actually enjoyed it. This game is definitely different from your typical Dead Island entries, being in third person and adopting a completely unique style. Honestly, the best way I can describe this game is as a “fever dream.” It’s a weird experience. The first thing most people will notice is the art style,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Honestly screw all the negative reviews on this. buy this game if YOU find the concept interesting! (i advise to get it on the discounted price though because it's even more worth it.) I was on the fence about this game for so long because of all the negative reviews. But it was on sale and i decided to bite the bullet, and that was the best decision i made. this game is generally a good time! i love the cartoony little effects they added. it kinda reminds me of sunset overdrive in that aspect.…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Escape dead island is seen as the black sheep of the series, but in actuality i think it's an underrated gem, sure it's unpolished looks vastly dated and somewhat clunky in some areas, you can tell it was given a low budget, but that aside, the dark souls like combat and stealth mechanics are not that bad, and the game is not afraid to reinvent itself and be uniquely different from what we expect from a stereotypical dead island game, the story was ok, not the worst but leaves you more confused…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →By the end of the game i was sooo sick of it but up until that point it was pretty good ngl. overhated game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Shame. If this game is a standalone title and not a dead island game, it would probably have better steam reviews and less hate. Not for players looking for more dead island. Borderlands style graphics+little bit of splinter cell?, dead islandish style combat, mystery after mystery which keeps the player engaged from a narrative perspective. The game also switches between light and dark environments to help keep a good pace. The only problem is running kick+finisher is too OP. And combat is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game is strange but i like how it adds to the dead island story
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great co op supported game that is enjoyable for some people and not others.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Huge fan of the art style and I enjoy the story! Too bad it isn't canon to the main line game. And the ending is a bit confusing. Now I am scouring the internet for an explanation lmao
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is a clunky mess. The story is the only interesting part and fails most of the time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It really was a strange game the story was all over the place the main character is insane random objects is falling from the sky all the time and the ending is suggesting that you are caught in a Time Loop or in a coma or you are a zombie and that humanity's only hope is a boxer you throw into the sea and proceed to then drive over in a boat I simply cannot recommend this game beyond the strange story the Combat is frustrating and strange
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wasn't all what I expected, it started out ok, I knew it was cell shaded but the story goes off the rails in a way I did not imagine it could.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After playing the game, I realized that the "escape" in the title was a warning for me and others not to play it. Escape Dead Island is a third person spin off to janky first person hack n' slash Dead Island. It takes place 6 months after events of the game. The protagonist is a journalist named Cliff who heads to the island with his 2 friends to find out what happened. I'll give EDI some credit, because it tries some interesting stuff, however it doesn't pull it off well. Throughout the game,…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool cel-shaded art style and an intriguing psychological horror setup, but that's about where the good stuff ends. The combat feels clumsy, stealth is poorly implemented, and the story gets incredibly confusing and repetitive. It's a massive step down from the main Dead Island games. 4/10
