60 of 201 · most liked firstDear devs - LET PEOPLE SKIP THESE DIALOGUE SCREENS! If I have to have hte boss battle reset to the start of the day, I don't need 10 minutes of dialogue again! the first time is witty, love it, but every time after that is just rubbing salt into the wound.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The audacity of making you lose your progress unless you've slept, in a game with unskippable cutscenes and timed events, and a day that lasts a whole IRL hour.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cute and fun game, with a slow pace and a bit of farming. The only thing I don't like is that you have to wait until the end of the day to save, so if you're in a hurry and need to close the game, well know that you'll lose your progress. Overall rating 7/10

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →IT’S FOOKIN’ RAW!!! This game is perfect for those neckbeards like myself who don’t want to work in real life, but prefer a 9-to-5 career in game! The game is basically like Overcooked and Cooking Mamma. Food Wars + Stardew Valley= Epic Chef It’s a game where you can make Unicorns into edible food… ‘nough said. You farm while running a kitchen and going on adventures to fight bosses all in a quirky art style… it really does feel epic. Now sure it looks like a cheaper worse version of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like cooking games and I like farming games, so I thought I would really like this game. I couldn't have been more wrong. Generally I write my reviews only after I complete a game, but this game has such a long list of problems that I had to start writing it down halfway through the game. Some of them are very much subjective, but It is a long list: - it is buggy (items flying in the sky, items disappearing out of your inventory, achievements not unlocking properly, you getting stuck behind…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Alright so this review is a long time coming. I was given this game as a gift from my best friend. I never expected to love this game, genuinely from the trailer I thought it looked horrible. The second I saw the slow walking to serve I thought to myself "eeek". Then I saw the reviews. People complain that the game does not explain where to go, that the movement is clunky and slow, and that the game was too grindy. HOWEVER from the moment I started playing I have absolutely fallen in love…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A well executed but bland dish. Epic Chef has you take on the role of Zest (Who is totally not Gordon Ramsay) as he finds himself owning a haunted house in a culinary land where battles are settled in the kitchen The core of the game is that of growing crops (Your farm is magical and can literally sprout plants in a day) crafting together crops and ingredients, building up machines and the town whilst battling in culinary challenges. On paper it works quite well but in practice it leads to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pretty darn questionable to release a game without a reliable save function in this day and age
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is this a perfect game? No. Does it get kinda repetitive? Yes. Are the graphics or soundtrack anything impressive or generally memorable? No. Did this game legitimately make me laugh out loud? Yes. Yes it did. And not just one of those 'snort out of your nose cause the meme was kinda funny' laugh. But actual laughs, and multiple times. It's not a great game, but it IS a great time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whacky humor, fun cooking mechanics and you can meet Jesus! ...but in between it's a slog. The first hours are very fun but it gets tedious after some time. While the cooking is great, the farming and fishing you have to do to fuel it is draining. No fun mechanics there. Then there's the restaurant management which is what ultimately made me stop playing. It wasn't fun to me to decorate the restaurant, make dishes, hope the customers like it, wait for a day, do adjustments and then hopefully…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For being as strange and bloated as it is, Epic Chef is a very engaging experience. While there are an almost frightening number of different mechanics involved, they all work together in interesting ways to create a very cohesive experience. Some people will like specific aspects of Epic Chef over others, but the way in which they work together means that very few are going to have trouble engaging with the whole, at least on some level.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →More of a mixed than a straight no. A very good and different idea, I liked that you don't have to worry about crops as they grow very fast, the idea is being a chef not a farmer and that was well done (no pun intended). Though the game felt slow somehow, I don't know if it's the few quests you have, or what, but I didn't feel like I did very much in almost 4 and a half hours. Maybe it's because there isn't a lot of things to unlock in the game, crops, variety of items, etc. I did spend a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →5 / 10 I really want to like this game, I just cant recommend it in good conscience. The good: The food battling idea is novel and interesting, but there just simply isn't enough of it. The art style is kinda fun. Some (emphasis on some) of the jokes are slightly humerus. The bad: The farming is so painfully tediously slow. Things around town only happen at specific times of the day so more often then not you are either waiting for that time of day, or it has already passed and you have to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TLDR: Fairly unique cooking game mechanic with a surprisingly detailed story line...which are both somewhat wasted through a game that is poorly paced and overly written. If you get it, perhaps get it on sale. You'll probably get 3-5 hours of enjoyment out of it. The long of it: I am a fan of games with cooking, farming, and fishing mechanics. Usually a pretty easy sell for me. I would rate each of those for this game as something like 8/10, 2/10, and 5/10. The cooking mini game is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I'm glad that I played this game to completion. It started out really slow, but the game really grew on me over the course of a 45h laissez-faire playthrough. After finishing the game, I felt that all the quests, the NPC interactions, and the sometimes corny interactions tied together nicely with no wasted moments. I especially enjoyed Infinigon's take on comedy throughout the story. They had hilarious moments of slapstick, deadpan, and cartoon caper-ish humor -- the kind that you were likely…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →just started but lost one hour of play because nobody explain that game saves only in a bed during night... what a stupid system - I understand that it could make some sense in farming simulators but even there they have implemented quick save alrady. or at least save & quit... story is long, movement slow... you really don;t want to do this again and again.. why there is no autosave after some certain points in story during a day? :-(

The game encourages you to experiment with ingredients, crafting unique dishes that add a fun twist to the standard life-sim formula. It’s a feast for those who love to mix and match flavors, making every meal feel like a new challenge. 🍅🧄 🏡 Engaging Storyline and Characters The witty dialogue and quirky characters keep the narrative engaging. The interactions are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is currently in the Humble Choice for October 2022, this is part of my coverage of the bundle. If you are interested in the game and it's before November 1st, 2022, consider picking up the game as part of the current monthly bundle. A bit of Battle Chef Brigade, with Stardew Valley. Epic Chef starts with the player coming to town to take over the cursed home. It turns out it’s cursed to grow crops extremely fast, which is actually a good thing. From there, players will set up a…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I went to sleep, woke up, waited a minute, left the game. Next day I load up the game and it loaded previous day. :( It reminds me of Battle Chef Brigade, very similar concept, but in Epic Chef they seem to not know what they want to have in it so we get a mix of different activities which don't stick that well together.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →controls and perspectives are abysmal. sleep to save is annoying. should at least save on quit.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable for anyone with misophonia without a way to turn off the horrible, unpleasant eating sounds. Really unfortunate, seems like a cool game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Just finished completing everything this game has to offer, and I'm a bit sad to see it end. The game was fantastic. I loved the writing and humor, the characters were unique and enjoyable, charming art style and progression felt good like you always had something to work towards. I got the game on sale for 2.50 but would have easily paid full price for the entertainment I received.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like this game, and its story and humor are so good, despite some flaws in the gameplay. But I keep losing my progress! This is the second time I've started up the game, clicked on "continue", and realized that somehow nothing was saved from my last time playing it. I've lost at least six hours of progress in total. Rage quit here :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No convenient save option and progress loss when game should have saved. I have seen other reviews saying they have also lost progress when the game should have saved. I had to leave the game running because I could not save the game. I finally get sleep (which the games says should save your game) but when I return to continue the game all progress is lost. It also feels like it takes a bit too long to get into the main gameplay loop. I am going to give the game another shot and retread…

unlabelledView post →Soulless, shallowly flashy farming and cooking sim which tries to cover up how boring it is with "lol so random" energy. Some of the dialogue is amusing, but that's all it has going for it. Also, you can only save by sleeping in your bed, and you can't sleep whenever you want to; you have to wait for nightfall.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very Very good game. Bought it on sale for 1.99. You can fry rats in this game and eat them. Yum yum yummy I want ratties in my tummy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't get very far into this game, but I'm gonna have a hard time wanting to return to it. I received this game as part of a humble bundle so I didn't pay a whole lot for this game + other cooking games. Pros - • Great writing so far - the humor is cute • Very stylized for the art direction they took • Cooking is kinda fun (albeit short..) Cons - • Incredibly slow character with no way (to my knowledge) to be faster • No customization to your character besides changing clothes - It's…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Lost my progress even after sleeping for some reason. Just let me save when I want to.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a bad game, I've completed it for the humor and dialogues, but it has some issues, so there are better options out there. Get it if you really like puns and Stardew Valley like games. Pros: +Witty dialogues +'Puzzly' elements (assuming you are using wiki) Cons: -Bugs - game did not save once, forcing me to replay a part, also had a few animals disappear -If you are not using wiki, the cooking battles require extreme overpreparation, or repetition, which would require grinding for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Aside from how this game handles saving, this is a cooking game that tries it's hardest to not be a cooking game and more like a cartoon with ridiculous plots that work out in the end. The story is about verbal punching bag and only sane man Zest who "inherits" a haunted mansion and tries to make a living as a cook in the land of Concordia and its colorful and quite frankly concerning residents (seriously the first thing you see in town is a public fist fight). Then a golem crash lands in your…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was released awhile ago but having gotten about 60% of the way through I can say if it looks interesting it's absolutely worth getting, especially during sales where it's literally 2.50. It's a cooking/farming sim, themed around a world that revolves around cooking, or at least the area of the world this game takes place in. You basically do chef battles and improve your prestige as a chef/restaurant owner while improving your home and the lives of those in town. It's a common…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was pleasantly surprised at this game. From the start, it's clear that the game was made by a small team and not incredibly polished. However, a lot of love was still put into the game, especially with the characters, dialogue and gameplay mechanics. The overall gameplay loop is fun: Grow crops and raise animals for ingredients, and then use these ingredients to cook better food and defeat other chefs in competition. Where the game really shines is the story and dialogue. It's clever and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →There's definitely some jank in the controls and the UI, but the basic game is sound, kept me interested for a good long time, and I appreciated the humor in the writing. You follow a bunch of storylines, unlocking different ingredients and things you can grow and build, and then use your ingredients to win a bunch of cooking battles. The cooking battle rules with how the ingredient synergies and the judging rules and sauces work is very clever, and presents a lot of different situations for…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tonight's steam recommendation: EPIC CHEF! Imagine a cooking anime like Food Wars, except it was written by Monty Python and edited heavily by Terry Prattchet. Hilarious, compelling, nonsensical, and currently on sale for less than bus fare. Two big thumbs up from me, absolutely worth it
unlabelledView post →This game is absolutely great. Only difficulty is the book of dialogue to read. But, the reading it is worth it. The story is clever, well thought out, and very fun. The gameplay is unique and very well balanced. Some of it is kinda slow paced (like fishing), but overall extremely well thought out mechanics. You are unlocking new features all the way up to the end-game. If you are able to focus enough to read through the long dialogues, this game is a true gem. Can't recommend enough.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BEST COOKING GAME EVER!!!! Its the perfect combination of everything! The game is humorous with storyline, farming, cooking, magic, and you have your own restaurant to run. I cant believe this game dont have more people playing. It definitely a game to relax with a bit of challenge from time to time when it come to the culinary battles. I bought it on sale and honestly It more than worth it! This game is not to play a few hours then done, so if you looking for something quick to beat this game…

Cons: -Slooooow. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unfortunately I find it difficult to recommend this game to anyone. While the core gameplay mechanic (i.e. the cooking battles) is not bad, it’s held down by.. basically nearly everything else. Firstly, I did enjoy the cooking mechanics. They had enough depth to be interesting without being arcane at all. It’s something of a puzzle and strategy game mostly, where you try and make the best scoring dish with potentially sabotaging your opponent using the sauce system. My biggest issue with it…

One of those games where every single person plays it the same way and does the same quests in the same order to unlock the same things and so on. could be amazing but its just soooo bland after the first hour after running around collecting and growing its back to the same cooking game over and over, never evolves how about different ways of cooking oven baking blender boil to make the game more interesting
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After 48h (full completion) I find it hard to either recommend, or not recommend this game so I would say get it on sale. The cooking and farm management is fun, plus the writing is absolutely hilarious. Now for the disclaimer - boy can this game can get tedious: - Unskippable cutscenes in chef's battles, plus each battle usually requires one practice run to even figure out what the victory requirements are - So MANY chef's battles - it felt like the entire final league was just tacked on as…

So do I recommend it? Hell yeah! I play a variety of games but rarely do I put close to 100 hours into a game, especially a game like this but I loved it! There is not much I don't like about it except for sometimes it was a bit difficult to decide what to do next. I looked a few things up but for the most part it was easy to figure out. I would love if there…

It didn’t hook me in any way, and first impressions were bad enough that I’d rather spend my time on literally anything else. Quick signals 💸 Value: ✅ "IT'S A TRAP!" 🖥️ Requirements: ✅ Minimum 🎨 Graphics: ✅ Cheap ⏱️ Length: ✅ 30–50 hours 📖 Story: ✅ Bad 🎮 Difficulty: ✅ Simple 🐛 Bugs: ✅ Perfect Why I’m not recommending it It failed to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was a very enjoyable game. I really enjoyed the cooking challenges that really made you plan ahead. They didn't ever get too hard but were still challenging and took some thought. Sometimes it got a bit repetitive because you have to keep making the same ingredients over and over, especially sauces, but it didn't stop me from finishing the game. The only part I really didn't like was fishing once you got to the higher tiers. I absolutely hate fishing mini games and while this one was…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked it , its a fun restaurant management/farming story driven game full of daft humour, Hours of fun to be had, i finished at 70 hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is incredibly funny and well done. However you really need to plan out your dishes, otherwise you will have problems with the more difficult opponents. You get to farm and raise a variety of strange critters (which you get to cook later on). Happy cooking!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It is a cute game with a ton of potential but the movement speed/speed of time passing ruin the game. Especially the movement speed. I am going to give it another go with a youtube video in the background but can't recommend at this time.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Is your dish a portrayal of your opinion? I find captivating works that know how to represent cooking, as a tale of how it can bring joy or how intricate and laborious may be, however, this isn't about the process of cooking itself, it's about the world and how much this praxis weighs on it. All started with a friend giving me a random key without context, thought was going to be a cheap game but instead i realized it was worth more than that, a game that felt cheap in many aspects and not…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Never have I had a game exceed my expectations like this. Not to say it was the best I've played, but definitely worth the time put into it. I expected a small game with quirky humor, over in a day or two. Not to be absorbed for a week, getting behind on work. The humor was gloriously on point, the puzzle of coming up with new dishes and combinations to overcome challenges, new combinations constantly recontextualizing old ingredients, and even the simple yet oddly engrossing story by the end.…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got this as part of a Humble Bundle and at the start it didn't seem like much: a kind of dumb protagonist getting into WaCkY HiJiNkS with random self-referential, lampshading humor... but the synergy cooking aspect kept me curious, so I kept at it. I'M GLAD I DID. The game shows a lot more heart the further I've gotten into it. The characters seem one-dimensional until you get a few quests further in and they start revealing more of themselves. There's a lot of heart, a lot of wholesomeness,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very funny, I got this game to play a farming and cooking sim never expected the amount of comedy. Totally worth the money 10/10 would play again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is unplayable after about 20ish hrs. I say that b/c sometimes I left the game running without playing. When you put down crops and build storage chest at the same time invisible walls pop up after certain unlocks in your build area. If you can get further than that by breaking your storage chest when you build other (without spoiling) items in the game the invisible wall stops you from going into town, accessing your home, etc. Even though Infinigon Games is the dev team, Team21 was…
