unlabelledView post →I was so mad at Enemy At The Gates that I wanted to leave the theater but couldn't because a friend drove me there. I can't remember why I hated it but I was in film school at the time so was at the height of my insufferable "I'm a critic" powers.
unlabelledView post →Tonight's film Enemy at the Gates (2001)
unlabelledView post →Darkly hilarious that just as Serious Historians had managed to convince most people that scenes like ones in the Enemy at the Gates movie (“man with the rifle shoots”) didn’t really happen, the Russian Army went “hold my vodka”.
unlabelledView post →A WWII movie about a WEIRD TALES writer drafted to the front lines, Enemy at the Gates of the Silver Key.
unlabelledView post →I've understood that this has generated some controversy, especially after that scene in the movie Enemy at the Gates ("The one with the rifle shoots, the one with the ammo follows, when the one with the rifle is killed, the one with the ammo picks up the rifle!"). www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUQh...
unlabelledView post →And the weird thing about this "Russian way of war" is that it seems to be a recent fabrication, as if they learnt war from the 2001 film, "Enemy at the Gates," which has nothing to do with how the Red Army actually fought WWII. Stalin would find today's Russian army to be brutal and wasteful.
unlabelledView post →Enemy at the Gates is a superb film.
unlabelledView post →Just went upstairs to find my grandpa watching a movie. The screen featured what appeared to be a POV of a sniper scope and I asked “is this Enemy at the Gates?” He responded “how the hell did you know that!?” Eventually I’ll have to try to explain what the movie gets wrong about the actual history
unlabelledView post →Erratum: the movie and book about KKR is Barbarians at the Gate, not Enemy at the Gates which is about Stalingrad. I recommend both https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barbarians_at_the_Gate_(film)
unlabelledView post →This is the worst sex scene in film since Enemy at the Gates. Watch better porn, director of Blood Surf. #FrightClub #bloodsurf
unlabelledView post →I would legitimately lose sleep thinking about that one teenager I worked with 11 years ago at the movie theater who actually tried to tell me that Enemy at the Gates was really how it all was on the Eastern Front, but then I remember that the marketing for it looks like this and I snore laughing:
unlabelledView post →Not necessarily 'a lot' in the movie, but Enemy at the Gates is quite enjoyable
unlabelledView post →I call this the Enemy At The Gates effect. The Easten Front in WW2, unlike what was depicted in that film, was around 1.5:1 or 2:1 at most.
unlabelledView post →So KKR has bought Simon & Schuster for £$1.62 billion. Three things to note here: 1. KKR is the company that disastrously and hilariously bought RJR Nabisco, detailed in the book and film Enemy At The Gates. More recently they also bought and bankrupted Toys R Us. (1/2)
unlabelledView post →Enemy at the Gates (2001) i think this might be the most pro-Soviet film ever produced in the West?
unlabelledView post →I mean, I could just watch Enemy At The Gates again, which isn't any morally better than any other war movie, but does have really good actors and a much more compelling set of bad guys to kill.
unlabelledView post →dam busters of course and I think the one about stalingrad, Enemy at the Gates, I put dad on to a film about a WWI soldier with Philippe Noiret, Life and Nothing but..I think that deeply effected him.
unlabelledView post →Ron Perlman - 📽️ Enemy at the Gates (Jean-Jacques Annaud, 2001) Famously, the action is better than the talk in this WWII sniper movie. The character who pops most is Perlman’s all too brief tactical genius Koulikov. Him training Jude Law to evade Ed Harris is the film’s peak tension and character.
unlabelledView post →Enemy At the Gates is absolute horseshit for this. The entire fucking film is garbage.
unlabelledView post →I played a bit of CoD: World At War now. The start was more or less what I expected: Medal of Honor on a grander scale. Fun, but not too interesting. As a big fan of the movie Enemy At The Gates, the Russian campaign was a lot more interesting already. Also, Gary Oldman. 🤘🏻
unlabelledView post →Pick one movie, keep one actor, the rest are muppets. Enemy At The Gates, keep Rachel Weisz
unlabelledView post →I like to joke about how random the selection process for 4K restorations/discs feels, but it's honestly very charming to find out that a seemingly-forgotten movie like ENEMY AT THE GATES or whatever actually has many passionate fans, who are so happy to see it in an ideal format :)
unlabelledView post →From PARAMOUNT, I got three recently released 4Ks! Robert Altman's POPEYE (1980), and THE SAINT (1997) and ENEMY AT THE GATES (2001) 4K Steelbooks (I think THE SAINT actually came out this week...) Thoughts on each film will follow below as usual!
unlabelledView post →Yeah, absolutely. The GWOT drone campaigns might have been a bit like an office job with extra murder, but a drone movie set in Ukraine would/should be spiritually closer to things like the sniper combat in Enemy at the Gates. Hopefully with better research than Enemy at the Gates.
unlabelledView post →Prepping for Skeleton Crew by watching my favorite Jude Law movie, Enemy at the Gates
unlabelledView post →I just purchased his multi-volume on Stalingrad. We did a “virtual staff ride” with Army University Press and I’ve been wanting to learn more about that battle and the Eastern Front ever since. Also learned that Glantz thought “Enemy at the Gates” was an appropriate film depiction of Stalingrad.
unlabelledView post →In the film Enemy at the Gates all Russian characters were played by English actors, while all the Germans were played by Americans. This creates a sense of cultural consistency, letting one accent stand in for a different nationality. Similarly, in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World--
unlabelledView post →has any other single movie ever done as much to completely corrupt American understanding of a historical event as Enemy at the Gates did for Stalingrad? this is a serious question. like you can tie all the WW2 rhetoric about "endless waves of Soviet troops" pretty much directly to this film
unlabelledView post →man the poster for Enemy At The Gates really does look like those dudes are gonna bang at some point in the film
unlabelledView post →"Enemy at the Gates" was a quite decent US film about Russian snipers in Soviet defense of Stalingrad.
unlabelledView post →I think my worst first date movie was Enemy at the Gates
unlabelledView post →oh 1917 is very good!!! and definitely check out the others - there are some hard parts in Fury but it's one of my faves. Enemy at the Gates has Rachel Weiss and she's gorgeous so it's a perfect movie on that alone 😂
unlabelledView post →I don't blame you. I had friends who could. Movie violence isn't bad for me, but when it's that realistic? I can't. Historical War movies are a no for me with the exception of Enemy at the Gates.
unlabelledView post →Stalin's war. "Enemy at the Gates" movie made it look a lot more pleasant that it was, tbh.
unlabelledView post →you know what movie I watched when I was like 15 and I thought it was awesome and I’ve never heard anyone mention it ever again? ENEMY AT THE GATES
unlabelledView post →Yep, and he's the reason COD even EXISTS. Infinity Ward was formed by people who worked on Medal of Honor: Allied Assault...and COD has taken inspiration from him at times (and although not a Spielberg film, Enemy at the Gates).
unlabelledView post →Oh for fuck's sake. That's simply... false. It's an scene taken from a movie. It never happened. 'Enemy at the Gates' has so much to ask for.
unlabelledView post →Enemy at The Gates was a good movie. I should rewatch that again tbh. I need to see a movie NOW.
unlabelledView post →Anybody watched the movie “Enemy at the Gates?” I know it’s fiction, but it does show a mindset.
unlabelledView post →Check out Enemy at the Gates (2001) — a gripping film based on real events during the battle, focusing on the sniper duel between Vasily Zaitsev and a German marksman. 🔗 IMDb: www.imdb.com/title/tt0215...
unlabelledView post →A favourite, lesser-known film with a title that starts with the letter “E" #filmsky Enemy At The Gates (2001) - maybe not lesser-known, but I am often surprised by how few people have heard of this

unlabelledView post →Enemy at the Gates is a Christmas movie
unlabelledView post →Watch "Enemy at the Gates" yes it's a Hollywood movie. The 1st battle scene, where every 2nd man gets no weapon, only ammunition is true. The scene where the russian conscripts realize the charge against the Germans is death, so they try and run back to their lines and get shot by russians. Is true.
unlabelledView post →Using MOVIE as an acronym, recommend 5 films: Mad Max: Fury Road Ong-Bak Venom In the Army Now Enemy at the Gates (Telling on myself a bit here lol)

unlabelledView post →Plex is currently airing the excellent film "Enemy At The Gates" on its Miramax channel. Jude Law, Rachel Weisz, Joseph Fiennes, Ed Harris, Bob Hoskins; quite the cast. Can't believe it was released 25 years ago. #twothumbsup
unlabelledView post →🎬 Enemy at the Gates is getting a 4K Blu-ray SteelBook from Paramount on Aug 25! ⚔️ The Jude Law & Joseph Fiennes WWII drama features a new 4K restoration from the OCN - with Dolby Vision & English 5.1 Dolby TrueHD. Extras: 2 featurettes + deleted scenes 📹 Pre-Order! bit.ly/3QTdLEb #FilmSky #Film
unlabelledView post →Re: the Odyssey accents thing, I do still think one of the funnier instances of saying fuck it on what accents would be used was the movie Enemy At The Gates. Jude Law, Ron Perlman and Joseph Fiennes play Russians (English accents) and Ed Harris plays a German (American accent)
unlabelledView post →Lol, interestingly, they wrote Take Me Out after seeing Enemy At The Gates, a mediocre movie version of the novel War The Rats about a Nazi and Soviet sniper squaring off in Stalingrad which decided to make everyone British, for some reason.
unlabelledView post →I love his willingness to work on non-english speaking productions, the first proper film I saw him in was Cronos but I also love him in Quest for Fire. I also have seen Enemy at the Gates too many times to count, and have really strong memories of him being unhinged in Desperation. Love this dude.
unlabelledView post →open.spotify.com/episode/32Ae... Join the boys as they ponder why everyone in this movie has cockney accents when they cover the 2001 classic (?) Enemy at the Gates
unlabelledView post →It's not a western movie and you can tell by the way its made but it's good and was very different from what I expected (Enemy At the Gates basically). I found it much less jingoistic and glamourising that WWII movies from Hollywood but that bar is on the floor...
unlabelledView post →The best bit on that film Enemy at the Gates was when the creepy incel commissar got shot lol
unlabelledView post →Reminds me of the movie ENEMY AT THE GATES about the siege of Stalingrad. The officer tells the soldiers, "First man carries the leafblower, second man carries the rechargeable battery!"
unlabelledView post →In Enemy at the Gates i believe (yes i've watched parts of that movie, and the ones i've seen i really didn't like that much) in one scene they use the post Stalinist era Soviet anthem, you know, in the movie that's supposed take place during the battle of Stalingrad...🤦
unlabelledView post →Seeing Beyond the Gates trending got me momentarily excited for a sequel to Enemy at the Gates with Jude Law. #BeyondTheGates #BTG
unlabelledView post →Admittedly, the Soviet thing is mostly a myth popularized by the film *Enemy At the Gates* (same thing is true for them "having more men than rifles"). That being said, the Red Army was extremely cruel and did shoot "defeatists" in droves (just not with machine guns), and Cadorna absolutely did it!
unlabelledView post →Enemy at the Gates was a great movie because you got to watch Jude Jaw, Joseph Fiennes, and Rachel Weiss being horny for 131 straight minutes.
