What people are saying
Mixed: players love the flight but hate the intrusive tilt prompt.
Many players praise the immersive flight and beautiful Paris setting, calling it a great VR experience. One player says it "finally fulfills one of my childhood dreams" and finds the visuals fantastic. [3]
However, a widespread complaint is the invasive "tilt your head" prompt that blocks vision and ruins gameplay. One player calls it "one if not the worst game mechanic Ive ever seen in a game" and notes there is no way to disable it. [32]

60 of 199 · most liked firstFirst of all, the game is basically wonderful.. unfortunately as far as I have seen it's also not playable because of a peculiar bit of stubbornness on the part of the developers. There have clearly been requests for a long time to do something about the invasiveness of the 'Tilting your head is more comfortable' prompt. It fills and obstructs your view, and doesn't go away .. in my experience at all, unless you go through the several seconds long procedure to pause and un-pause the game, and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a shame - almost a classice but they really messed up by not giving an option to turn off the stupid VR confort mode and surround the view by an crap outline of an eagle - can't believe they put so much work into a game and in mess it up so easily. Purchased it with 75% off but still getting it refunded. Take the VR comfort mode off and I'd buy it again for full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Whether or not I reccomend Eagle Flight depends mostly on what you're looking for. If all you want is a VR toy, it's fantastic. It's fairly immersive and the flight mechanics, while not as deep as I'd prefer, are intuitive and satisfying. The relationships between head position, view, and control are natural after only a few minutes, and highlight an aspect of VR I wouldn't have expected to work nearly as well as it does: With the right control scheme, a game can completely change the way you…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL; DR: With a bad design making the game unplayable, Eagle Flight is one of a very tiny handful of games where I solidly regret purchasing it. Price is outrageous. UPlay is horrible. Ubisoft and other companies like EA represent everything wrong with how to be a game company. However, the biggest thing keeping me from playing this game is the bad design I talk about above, which is this: the game has constant warnings that pop up every millisecond WHILE YOU ARE MID-AIR: "hey tilt your head…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is honestly ruined by the prompts to tilt your head. It's an interesting experience and I'm sure the story's great, but I had to quit after 15 minutes because if the game somehow detects you're not playing right, it will splash a prompt to tilt your head in the center of the screen for something like 30 seconds. The prompt is huge and completely takes you out of the game, you can't do anything to make it go away, and there's no way to disable it. It's the worst design decision I've seen in…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend this heavily discounted. The main problem is that it displays a large "tilt your head to turn" message repeatedly in the center of the screen, and it interferes with your vision. This game must have been designed early on for Rift, with Ubisoft thinking people want to stand or sit stationary in one place. I turn my head and body to turn. That feels much better than tilting my head. Tilting will make you feel MORE sick, so I don't know why they recommend that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Absolutely amazing game! Finally fulfills one of my childhood dreams and is so beautiful and you really feel like your flying around above the streets of an abandoned Paris. Find the visuals fantastic (cell shades style really works well on a vr headset making it look clear and crisp) there unfortunately is not enough online players for multiplayer. @ubisoft PLEASE enable multi region play! However if you want to meet others online install discord and join the below:…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great showcase of what a triple A budget can do for a VR experience, Eagle Flight is a great game, and here's why. Upon starting the game, you're presented with a heavily styalised open world representation of Paris, set several decades after the end of humanity. This has resulted in the decay of the city with vegetation growing through buildings and exotic animals running loose through the streets. The style of the graphics looks great and the game runs flawlessly on my system. You play the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It can be fun for the first minutes....aside from the fact that the full price is a joke (50 euros?), there are two main problems with this game I guess: - controls: you fly with your head, but you have to keep your head straight at 12 o'clock in your VR play area....if you turn your head in a direction that is not the front facing one, you get a prompt on screen, very invasive. But that's not that bad: you are bird, yet your head is tied to your wings apparently. You can't look at the ground…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →****DO NOT BUY**** Amazingly fun idea but spoiled by terrible control decisions right from the very start. Let's start with the onerous login and account creation procedure that is completely unnecessary for offline play. Left Grip to select a menu option? What's wrong with either trigger, or either grip, or virtually any button, most of which are unused? Then instructions appear on screen and won't go away, seemingly forever. I get it, tilt my head to turn. You can go away now. No…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Reviewing negatively until they remove these "tilt your head" messages that effectively ruin the game. I'm tilting my head you asshats. The messages come every few seconds and don't go away until you pause the game, then go back to game, and then they come right back. It ruins the game completely. Really it's unbelievable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is exorbitantly overpriced. While the detail in the world is great and the flight mechanics work fairly well (other than the easily set off warning messages about the controls that pop up constantly), this game is painfully simplistic and dull. I bought this fully expecting a slow experiential sort of thing, but still I couldn't help but feel horribly ripped off after I played it. This is a D level game built with AAA tier level design. If you ever see this on sale for $5 or less,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice looking game, I didn't get motion sickness AT ALL to my surprise, but this is just too expensive for me. I don't enjoy sitting or standing and controlling with my head + a gamepad. Not a must have for Vive owners. Many people I know really got into this game. It's really well made, it's just not for me. Unless you can eventually use motion controls to flap your wings or control the direction, etc. I won't be coming back. Sorry : (
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth $40. $9.99 maybe. Don't waste your money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really like this game, it gives a pleasant feeling of a flight without making you feel sick. But UBISOFT is the one who make me mad. Just imagine, you strat play this game, you are in your headset, excited, ready to fly and... you see the text, asking to back to desktop and do something whith freakig U-PLAY and you even don't now what you have to do, and then it crashing and that's happening about every single time. Guys, I hate you so much!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Played for about an hour and it's a great game with one huge exception... the TILT YOUR HEAD notifications are very annoying. It appears right in the center of the screen, obscuring your vision. The only way to remove it is by tilting your head and make a hard turn. This issue is especially annoying when you only want to look around (there are a lot collectibles). The moment you start doing this, the TILT YOUR HEAD notification pops back up again. You would think there's an option to remove…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I saw this game and bought it immediately. At first it made me a bit nauseaus, but once I got the hang of it, the feeling of flying was amazing. Especially after smoking some weed :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Exclusively uses head to control direction. I didn't like it and neither will you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft gets points for being unique on this one. Controlling your flight direction with head tilt is different and really adds to the immersion of the game. The above Paris setting setting also unlike most current VR worlds, with plenty to explore in the air and under ground.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun game... BUT... the "tilt your head" thing just ruins the game. Even doing it it still always pops up and literally blocks the vision always when you're doing tight curves and you need to SEE whats ahead. It's one if not the worst game mechanic Ive ever seen in a game. And there is no way to disable the "tilt your head" warning. Its hell. I still can't believe that after 8 years of people complaining no one has done anything to fix this game breaking mechanic.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very disappointed. I waited for this game to be on sale. I finally decided to take a chance and buy it at $19.99 USD. This is a $9.99 game at most. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of content here. This version of Paris is a pretty big world to fly in, especially in comparison to other VR games. However, a lot of the gameplay is redundant. Almost everything is a race. That would be awesome if there were more twists and turns along the way or the environments looked amazing (tracks).…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent enough VR game, but not unless it's in the $20 dollar range, and even then, it's pretty childish in gameplay and in graphics. I requested a refund, as this game wasn't engaging enough for me, but might be of value to some. Certainly not worth the full price.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →seems this game do not support modern CPUs, (intel gen 11 or new) VR controllers does nott work back in 2019 when I tried the first time, and now it just do not support PCs in general, another great game by ubisoft...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Days with Ubisoft support could not authenticate the purchase, so steam had to give me a refund. I have played on PSVR and the kids like it so tried to purchase directly from Ubisoft to get a Key. Lol, even their key would not authenticate the purchase, and this title is NOT eligible for REFUNDS. So will be hitting them with a credit card charge back, really bad form to charge for a product that won't activate, that they can't resolve and won't refund your money. Shame Ubisoft Shame...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's so much fun to fly in Eagle Flight, and while it is true the game closes shortly after opening, that's merely because of a bug with OpenSSL. The workaround is to go to the game's properties in Steam, click on Launch Options, then add this to the launch command. cmd /c "set OPENSSL_ia32cap=:~0x20000000 && %command%"
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game crashes after showing the ubisoft logo, with no error messages. a quick google search shows that this is a long standing issue, that ubisoft has ignored. There doesn't seem to be a fix. What a shame. This was the game that got me into vr on the ps4 vr. I got it for my older brother, and loved it so much I went out and bought a ps4 and psvr just so i could play it myself.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game on sale and still regret buying it. Game looks fine, but has some immersion breaking issues... ...the control scheme is very basic (Motion controllers cannot be used for flight control, you simply turn your head) ...There is an annoying message in your field of view all the time. It tells you what is most comfortable for you (Yes, Ubisoft seems to know better than you do.) Best of that joke: if you tilt your head instead of turning - as instructed - the irritating message does…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why can't I turn off the stupid VR comfort mode? It could be a decent game but the comfort mode ruins it all for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Casual game. You get to fly though. There is a very annoying game mechanic. If you turn your head, this huge overlay covers a large portion of your vision and says "Tilting your head is more comfortable than turning it". It stays up until you turn your head back to where the game thinks center is. This popup is EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE as you are constantly flying but suddenly have a big thing in your face. Also, you have no idea where center is, because you're wearing a VR headset. So…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is amazing. I really don't understand the people who recommend against it. After a slow intro period, the game ramps up into a very fast-paced time trial game with novel controls and smooth mechanics. I very much recommend this as one of the best VR titles to date.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like games such as Raw Data, Vanishing Realms, and Arizona Sunshine on the Vive (like me) this game may not be for you. If you like Lucky's Tale and other seated play sytle games, you might enjoy Eagle Flight. I just didn't find if very immersive and engaging.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Secondary drm is reason enough for me to recommend against a purchase, and my first-play frustration is still not the reason for giving the game a "no" (a soft no - it earned its "mixed" steam reviews status) You must have Uplay (so why even sell the game on steam?) and getting steam and uplay to communicate was a bit of a hassle. The game launched and said to take off the headset and follow the on screen instructions (which inconveniently were not on screen). after fiddling for a little bit…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Con: Requires uPlay, which doesn't work with steam family sharing even though uPlay logged in properly. Have to change steam users to play this game. Annoying! Con: Comes with Denuvo DRM. Games shouldn't be priviledged to be sold on steam if publisher doesn't trust Steam DRM. Pro: My kids love this game. Con: Neither kids nor I get any nausea in VR. The game's motion-sickness-reducing features reduce your vision when turning. Need an option to turn this off. We want our eyes fully…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I avoided this game for awhile due to the all mixed reviews and generally that doesn't bode well for a 2016 VR game in 2021. I picked this game up in a VR bundle and gave it a shot and had I known it was this good and ran this well on an Index, I would have paid full price long ago. There's lots of neg reviews about the 'tilt' help message that appears on-screen but I've yet to see it. Controls don't matter much since everything except speed controls are handled via head turns / tilts. I…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →makes you use an absolutely terrible ubisoft client, massively annoying company.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Relaxing to fly around, but me and some friends bought this on the promise of being able to play multiplayer together... you can't. The multiplayer doesn't allow you to select from your friends, all it does is search for a existing games on a server and then just loads forever because their aren't any games. Until you can hook up with your friends to fly around multiplayer (a race mode would be better than dogfights!) this game is single player only!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would be nice but: On higher FOV Valve Index, there is a black circle in your view all around. There is no option to make that disappear. There is an annoying message constantly popping up in your face to tilt your head, cant make it go away. You cant turn off the anti dizzy darkening of the screen either. And also nobody to play online. Considering these, I am refunding. Other than these, the graphics are nice, visually pleasing, but the above points ruin it for me.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My feelings on this game are like the current overall reviews: mixed. This is an early VR title and it shows. In 2016 people say this felt like one of the few "actual games" while the rest were just "demos". I got this game in 2018 with my first headset after I played it a bit on the PS4. And while yes there is a story and a campaign, me and a lot of other players (see global achievement statistics) cannot bring themselves to finish this. It is very repetitive and can be frustrating at times…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →TL:DR = Crap game, a ripoff, stay awat from it. DO NOT BUY IT even on discount. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- You start your life as an eagle hatching from an egg, then.. you ... "fly" through some circles hearing a very annoing voice telling you some crap about elephants, while watching very un-immersive labels about turning your freaking head, then you get sick knowing you spent your hard earned money on this piece of boredom and you feel…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →asking for a ubisoft key on launch, unable to play. key nowhere to be found and next to no help or support with the problem. -totally unimpressed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really great game, but I cant recommend because uplay is utter ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is beautiful. It also has an interesting mechanic. Unfortunately, it makes me sick. Something that I don't get often in VR. To date its happened twice to me. Once in google earth when I flipped back and forth between isometric and top down view accidentally a couple times and after about 20 minutes of eagle flight. I really want to like this game but the head tilting just messes me up. I wish I could make a neutral review but I have to choose yes or no.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Eagle flight has none of the presence or feeling of movement I usually get from flying in VR. There is a black vignette that blocks peripheral vision when you turn or get close to an object. I wish there was a way to turn it off because I think the game might be fun without it. At the moment it feels and looks like an android game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sit down and grab your Xbox controller. Everything is scaled to be from an Eagle perspective. So an Elephant will look bigger than it does to a human. Just like this ENTIRE city in France, in scale, is bigger. So if people say the map is small, ignore them, because the SCALE is BIGGER. It does kindof have the cartoony Prince of Persia/Assassins Creed feel to it. MAYBE it's a spinoff of the eagle/falcon/hawk (whatever the FK it is!!) when he jumps into bails of hay. (AC fans know what i…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game setup is incredibly annoying. This game makes you create an account before you can play. Once done you are thinking that finally I can play so you put on your VR gear and try and play and suddenly you get a message to take off your gear and do their post account creation setup through Uplay. So I do what they say and it starts saying 10% ...20%... etc. and just at about 90% suddenly dies and no matter what I try it will not start working. I will never by from Ubisoft again that's for…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Ubisoft can can fornicate itself and expire. This game refuses to run in VR no matter what I do. and with no in game menu O cant diagnose if it's a settings problem or something else money wasted, per usual with Ubisoft. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game reminds me why everyone hate uPlay...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does not work. Forces you to open some Uplay account via a web browser which it then tells you that you have to be 18 or over! There is no warning on the Steam store page that they only let you play this game if you are 18 or over. This game should not be for sale on Steam like that. Then even if you create an account it hangs and and does not launch. I am requesting a refund.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UPLAY is broken garbage. As many other customers have noted, the game doesn't launch properly as a result. Refund!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I was looking forward to a sale to try this game. I really wanted to like it--but after playing it for less than an hour, my neck was killing me and I stopped having fun and started looking up the number to a chiropracter. If this game had another means of turning besides physically turning your head, it would be a fun game. Until that happens, I'm requesting a refund for the painful game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I liked this game. The controls are intuitive, although some may not like steering with your neck. But I like the sensation of flight. I find it relaxing, and a nice change of pace. I think its expensive though, and its a shame that you need uplay to play it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a bit light on content but a great example of VR done right. Check it out if you like racing games and find a decent price on it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not worth the money really. Way better games out there with more content for less. Very annoying to play on the VIVE with roomscale - constant pop-up message telling you to 'tilt' your head instead of turning it is completely counterintuitive. Not to mention you need to install Uplay for this - another reason to avoid it all together.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a mixed review. I was eager to try a game from a big developer to see what they could do. Honestly, I was a little disappointed. If the pricetag was much lower, I would have felt less disappointed. There are a lot of great things about this game, but what I was hoping for, what I was expecting, was to actually feel like I'm flying. There are free VR experiences out there already that manage to do that, but something about this game can't seem to capture it. There is no feeling in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You want to play a neatly polished, very well made, "real" VR-game and not just a demo, that feels like it never will ascend from Early Acess Limbo? Look no further and try this one. Great setting, intuitive steering, excellent music and graphics that not only don't give you eye cancer, but are the best I've seen so far on the Vive (except for some parts of The Lab and Portal VR, which is a community mod you should also give a try, if you own Portal 2). Some players wrote, that they miss the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This was on my Christmas wishlist. I am happy I received it. This is a high-quality release from a major publisher--exactly the sort of thing I was hoping for in early-adopter consumer VR. (Note: Vive with Steam gamepad) The game is beautiful--VR has it's limits on polygon counts, but this game feels like it makes the most of them. Someone pointed out that it's somewhat like an Assasin's Creed city (with focus on the rooftops and tower vistas) and I'd agree--I like the feel of those cities…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →So, I've been playing this game for a while now (I bought it on the Oculus store in October and have been playing it through Revive since launch), and it is certainly the best seated VR game I've played yet. The feeling of direct control and speed is just not this comfortable in other games I've played and tried. This is definitely in my list of VR "must-owns". For single-player, I've not played a game in a long time that had me this hooked on going for top leaderboard spots and getting the…
