It's a great game; but for me it simply leans too hard into the puzzle aspect of the series and has a level count that overstays its welcome. I was glad to have tried it. :)
unlabelledView post →Finished 9th game of 2025, DOOM 64. This was DOOM 1+2 gameplay wise with slightly better graphics. That said, half the game was solving puzzles to go to the next map which was a bit frustrating. The final boss, Mother Demon took me so many tries cause of her stupid homing missiles. But we did it!😭

unlabelledView post →I played so much Doom due to that "Doom + Doom II" release and going through every single game on it that I'm really kind of burned out on Doom now. Anyway time to fire up Doom 64
unlabelledView post →While #Doom 64 was a bit of a thematic departure from the first 2 games, I personally consider it just as iconic as Doom I & II And now, there's even a way to enjoy the game with added Ray Tracing support thanks to Jean-Laurent ROUZIES github.com/jlrouzies-fr... #retrogaming #mod #modding #GZDoom

unlabelledView post →DOOM 64 (4/5) while i'm not a fan of most of the visual changes and the game relies a bit too much on teleporting enemies, the level and encounter design are much more consistently great than doom 1 or 2. the new scripting system is fun, the atmosphere rules, and the unmaker and demon keys FUCK.
unlabelledView post →Separating Doom 64 and the Lost Levels is weird. And also I don’t much agree with the rest of that ranking. Except that Doom 3 is a game I’ve never really liked.

unlabelledView post →I don't normally go for 100%s on achievements but a few are close enough I'm considering them. Viridi is barely a game but still has em. DOOM, DOOM 64 are doable. It's conceivable I could do Portal. Resident Evil 3 is a rare edge case where I MIGHT go for the S run on the hardest difficulty.

unlabelledView post →Love Jeff G's science vids (ranking nes and now n64) but his opinion of Doom 64 and reluctance to see it as a completely new Doom game and not just "a weird old port with new levels" is making me wanna pull my hair out.

unlabelledView post →Random game of the day 🎮 Doom 64. 1997. N64. In contrast to games such as Goldeneye 007, Doom was largely considered outdated at time of release. However in retrospect it's a triumph. Some of the best level design in any Doom game. Plus it absolutely flies. #RGGRandomGame
unlabelledView post →Currently trying Doom 64. I think it might be my favorite classic Doom game due to its atmosphere and puzzle focus. It and Quake 2 on the N64 might be my favorite shooters on the console, to be honest

unlabelledView post →Finished my 8th game of 2025, DOOM 2: Hell on Earth. Gameplay wise, it was an extension of DOOM 1. There were a very frustrating end game maps where skull keys needed to advance the level were often hidden behind secret doors. But overall, I really enjoyed the experience. Onto DOOM 64...soon. 👀
unlabelledView post →Doom 64. Very much a game that whilst appreciated, was not loved at the time. It was too old school. 2D sprite monsters, key collecting, corridor fighting. All the things that make it sublime in 2024.

unlabelledView post →Doom 64! Fun Doom game that suffered from unfortunate release timing, being sandwiched between Turok and GoldenEye, so most people ignored it or wrote it off as 'outdated'. Nowadays I'd say check out the remaster by NightDive - it's on every major platform and has a bunch of extra content
unlabelledView post →wait do you mean Doom 64, the 3rd game or Doom 3, the 4th game? because both were found to be questionable.
unlabelledView post →Yes Fenix, add that ROM to the backlog. You only have to complete first Doom 64, Doom 3, Outertale, several HL mods & compos that came out "recently", the mini games made by your friends, Dark Alliance, Dishonoured... You will play that game "eventually". Surely. With luck within this decade.
unlabelledView post →This week I have Doom 64. Not a traditional N64 port, it’s actually its own game entirely, with original levels that use the horror atmosphere of PlayStation Doom. I do own the original N64 cart, but only had a pic of Nightdive’s actually pretty good remaster on hand. #RandomGameSaturday

unlabelledView post →Classic Doom for me doesn't feel like a horror game. This might be an unpopular take, but the Playstation port is something weird. The soundtrack and sound effects don't fit the game. Doom 64, on the other hand, they are perfect.

unlabelledView post →I should do a mockup of "Alter of Pain" from Doom 64. I love this level design and have several unfinished Doom mockups just sitting around on my PC. Only the swamp moat though. Also cacodemons are odd looking but unique in this Doom game. They look like pain elementals but behave like cacodemons.
unlabelledView post →Doom 64 is at least 61 more Dooms' worth, so no surprise it's the *way* better game
unlabelledView post →Not a bad game console, but honestly, it's pretty overrated. Most of its games either aged like shit or have better sequels. The Windows port of Perfect Dark and remasters of games like Doom 64 and Turok highlight the N64's flaws (controller, textures, storage + music limitations, draw distance)
unlabelledView post →When Doom 64 got released in 1997, people just thought it was a port of the original game instead of a whole separate game - kind of the archetype for the "64" problem. The antidote is Celeste 64, a lovely game that never came out on N64 and never will, but just shamelessly borrows an aesthetic.

These classics truly stood the test of time! ...but what I _really_ want to see is the #Heretic / #Hexen series get the same treatment. Fingers crossed! (Or tips how to best play them these days.) #Doom #Doom64 #Quake #NintendoSwitch
unlabelledView post →There's also trying to remember when games have since escaped the N64. Like surely you don't need an N64 to play Doom 64 anymore yeah? There's no way somebody hasn't at minimum just painstakingly remade that game as a wad file.
