As of Saturday evening, it was on pace to place sixth in the weekend box office derby, behind even 'Devara Part 1,' a poorly reviewed, three-hour, Telugu-language action drama that was available in around 1,000 theaters"

unlabelledView post →Last four on @letterboxd.social #filmsky 📽️ watched Devara with the lead actor (Jr NTR) in attendance last night. He was just as much a star in real life as he was in the film.
unlabelledView post →DEVARA PART 1: While I miss Southie action pictures that told an entire story in one film and didn’t set up epic twofers, this one was *fun*. Fairy tale aesthetic extremity, wild action, a truly sensational turn from NTR. The opening night crowd was screaming regularly. And for good reason.
unlabelledView post →I did not enjoy Devara half as much as the trailer made me think I would. It was too serious. And the bad dialogue (or the bad subs, I don’t know which) and over-loud soundtrack didn’t help. #Desiwatch youtu.be/S5wQD_0WGTA?...

That being said, some of the visuals and choreography are nice but it doesn't excuse all the bloat. Also I wanted an excuse to test posting a vid
unlabelledView post →DEVARA: PART 1 basically gives NTR a full-on superhero movie, and it ROCKS. Blows most everything else in the genre out of the water (pun intended).
unlabelledView post →Reminds me of a few weeks back when I saw Devara Part 1 at Cinemark where they actually take the intermission. A guy in the theater who I guess had never seen an Indian movie before stood up, announced that was great, and thought that was the end until the crowd told him otherwise.

unlabelledView post →I love how these sequels of movies are being laid down very well and not just being made to not build the story further to deliver the climax. Devara builds up to the second part as well and makes sense to me. I think people are more used to one movie and the end. This movies have a continuity
