unlabelledView post →Man, I just love DEN OF THIEVES 2: PANTERA so fucking much. I never needed it to be the first movie all over again & I’m so glad it does its own thing. Big Nick & Donnie 4 EVA.

unlabelledView post →If I sit down to DEN OF THIEVES 2, I’m not in BRUTALIST headspace. Why would I want to do that? That sounds awful. Understand what a movie wants to do, and judge it on how successful it is at that, not some elevated artistic standard that it can’t possibly meet.

As one of DEN OF THIEVES' strongest soldiers, it brings me no joy to say that the sequel does not have the juice. In @latimes.com: www.latimes.com/entertainmen...

unlabelledView post →Also, saw Den of Thieves 2: Pantera tonight. Wrote some thoughts on it. No spoilers. Just some overall thoughts on the film and what worked for me, what worked in the first one, and why it's a bit different than the first film. I liked the movie! Had a good time! letterboxd.com/samvecenie/f...

unlabelledView post →#DenofThieves2 is the kind of low-risk, low-reward movie that usually gets released in January. If you enjoyed the 2018 original there’s enough in this sequel to win you over. My review for @ign.com:

unlabelledView post →Saw DEN OF THIEVES 2. The 1st one, while a HEAT knockoff, had a roided up scuzzy-ness to it, an eagerness to repel, that made the movie memorable. That quality is MIA in the sequel. Instead, we have an anodyne, forgettable FAST AND THE FURIOUS clone. Shit, Gerard Butler doesn't even chug Pepto.
unlabelledView post →I think I'm obligated to see Den of Thieves 2, as it's the exact movie I wish we had more of (midbudget genre film with no pretense of being a $300 million grosser)

unlabelledView post →I was surprised at how much of a hangout movie Den of Thieves 2: Pantera is. There’s some action sequences at the beginning and end but mostly it’s a Clint Eastwood-y chillin’ out and checkin’ out the scenery vibe film. They should’ve had Gerard Butler sing a song over the end credits

unlabelledView post →I recall watching Den of Thieves and absolutely disliking the film and maybe I was a bit too harsh. On the other hand, Den of Thieves 2 had my interest from the beginning I LOVE a good heist film with a complicated backstabbing and amazing history.

unlabelledView post →It gets a little lost in table setting for a potential sequel by the end (these movies do not each need to be 140 minutes), but really pleasantly surprised by Den of Thieves 2 and how it feels like a heist movie informed by globalism and the fluidity with which the rich play inside/outside the law.
