Murder on the Orient Express got Oscars but Death on the Nile has that Very Unwell ending that still whips 45 years later. It's on Kanopy if anyone wants to watch.

You rarely see film buffs say you don't need to watch or read Death on the Nile because they made a new one in 2022!!!!!!!!

unlabelledView post →I was very surprised and disappointed when Brand turned up in Kenneth Branagh's Death On The Nile (2022) - makes you wonder about the people behind that movie, not least Branagh.
unlabelledView post →Death on the Nile (1978). Sleek and shockingly icy hearted, it feels at times like a De Palma movie behaving itself just enough for PBS. Great cast and the film has teeth in recognizing wealth as a rotting pestilence that warps anything good it comes into contact with.

unlabelledView post →Second review from the new 4k UHD Agatha Christie boxed set from Studio Canal, the first of 3 Peter Ustinov adaptations by Anthony Shaffer, 1978's Death on the Nile. John Guillerman's film looks splendid, costumes and an all-star cast absolutely make this sing.4/5 film-authority.com/2025/11/27/d...
unlabelledView post →Also come on don't act like there's something magic about 65mm. Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Ice Station Zebra had 65mm negatives! So did Jurassic World Dominion, Death on the Nile, and Batman v Superman. Film's nice AND digital's nice, trade pubs shouldn't suggest one's better than the other!
unlabelledView post →Watching Death on the Nile, it’s the longest film ever made apparently.
unlabelledView post →StudioCanal's Vintage Classics release their Agatha Christie boxed set today; Murder on the Orient Express, Death on the Nile, The Mirror Cracked and Evil Under the Sun. It's Anthony Shaffer's scripts that make them; I'll review all four starting with Evil. 4/5 film-authority.com/2025/11/24/e...

unlabelledView post →Tbe Peter Ustinov version of "Death on the Nile" is on TV. Plays like a movie length Morecombe and Wise sketch with a procession of self-congratulatory performances and unconvincing accents. There's not a single drop of naturalism in the whole thing.

unlabelledView post →#Watched Death on the Nile (1978) (GK Death Cruise Movie #2) - This movie is so breezy, you’re just here to watch assorted thespians ham it up in front of gorgeous Egyptian scenery. Not really a “good” movie, but old fashioned charm, all vibes, plot be damned. And man I love that Nino Rota score.
unlabelledView post →Saw the wonderful production of Hello Dolly last night and once again I ask: don’t we deserve a movie version of A Murder Is Announced with Staunton as Marple after having suffered through Branagh’s Death on the Nile??
unlabelledView post →I like most all kinds of music. I didn’t know about Sister Rosetta Tharpe until the Death on the Nile movie and music. Her music is wonderful. youtu.be/ii06ABCd9ww?...
unlabelledView post →And then (coincidentally but I guess nothing's coincidental anymore) a friend shares with me an FB posting by the "Hollywood Flashback Club" that's abominably written nonsense—one untruth after another—about the 1978 Death on the Nile film accompanied by an AI image, and... I don't get the point.
unlabelledView post →This "Death on the Nile" story is like 15 pages. Interested in if they made up a bunch of new stuff for the movie, incorporated other stories, or just slapped a cool title on an entirely unrelated thing
unlabelledView post →🎥 Death on the Nile (1978) My god what a cast. I know I’ve seen this before but it was probably in 1978… Movie snack… leftover risotto arancini.
unlabelledView post →RIP to actress Olivia Hussey. The British/Argentine beauty was best known for her film roles in " Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet" (Golden Globe Award), "Death on the Nile", the cult classic "Black Christmas" and the tv mini-series "Jesus of Nazareth". Ms. Hussey was 73. #RIP #OliviaHussey

unlabelledView post →📽️ Death on the Nile There is so much wrong with this movie that the inexplicable casting of Russell Brand doesn't even get a mention in most reviews. Did Branagh owe him money?

unlabelledView post →finished this one, and i'm kind of fascinated by it as a sequel to Death on the Nile a lesser story, but more fun, and both Hamilton and Ustinov lean in, making for a film that's actually more pleasurable overall, even if i think it might not technically be as good

unlabelledView post →Capped off the day by doing some journaling while watching Death on the Nile (1978) and I think we can all agree that the main takeaway from that movie is: Maggie Smith in a suit.
unlabelledView post →Sad to hear of the death yesterday of Olivia Hussey, a most lovely actress, unforgettable as Juliet in Zeffirelli's film. Apt that this afternoon's film matinee on BBC 2 is Death on the Nile, another of her best performances. www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGD3...
unlabelledView post →I much prefer Ustinov's Poirot to Finney's and I think Death on the Nile is the most perfect of the original film cycle.
unlabelledView post →Watching Death on the Nile at the hotel and holy crap how does Gal Gadot get work Especially on a Kenneth Branagh film????
unlabelledView post →There was a lot wrong with Branagh’s Death On the Nile, but she took a B-Movie and robbed it of any fun. The Wonder Woman movies? She didn’t even seem to know what movie she was in. She’s never even so bad it’s interesting.
unlabelledView post →There's also the Lynch response: The movie is the talking. You wanna talk to Christie? Read Death on the Nile.
unlabelledView post →Death on the Nile was basically a middling movie but I enjoyed the spot where someone gets mad at Poirot for accusing everyone of murder, his sidekick (?) says, basically, yeah, that’s just what he does, and Poirot, looking abashed, kinda shrugs and acknowledges it’s a flaw.

unlabelledView post →@dragonblood1033.bsky.social I like almost anything musical. I have the album for the music track for Death on the Nile. The music was lip synced from the great Sister Rosetta Tharpe. I had never heard of her, but I watch the movie just to hear her music.
unlabelledView post →This weekend’s film which Mrs H and I enjoyed. Have seen the Branagh ‘Murder on the Orient Express’ release but yet to see ‘Death on the Nile’ of the newer Poirot films. Very enjoyable this was, bit darker overall, but very well shot/made 👍

unlabelledView post →Making a new Death On The Nile seems (to me) a pointless as remaking ‘Psycho’ or ‘Ghostbusters’. The 1978 Movie is so definitive only a complete egotist would think or attempting it.

unlabelledView post →One movie I have a soft spot for is Dick Tracy. Its not universally panned I don’t think but many people hate it. Another more recent movie that I enjoyed in spite of (because of) it’s awfulness is Death on the Nile- I love the horniness of it and Poirot’s mustache backstory is fun.
unlabelledView post →Now watching Death On the Nile, starring a bunch of real assholes. The first movie already had Johnny Depp in it, but Branagh wasn't satisfied. He wanted the most cancelled cast in history 📽️

unlabelledView post →Didn’t like it, and the original “Death on the Nile,” Peter Ustinov’s first time as Poirot was so good that I would never watch the remake. But, “A Haunting in Venice,” with Branagh, which was an adaptation of a Christie story that I don’t think has ever been made into a movie was pretty good.
