We watched A Haunting in Venice last night, a movie I love. I think this is the fourth time I've seen it. I think scary, ghostly murder mysteries with snappy dialog are my favorites. Also, Michelle Yeoh in a great part.

Finally watched —and loved— A HAUNTING IN VENICE tonight (no idea why I waited so long. I would pay top dollar for a streaming service that let me have one new Poirot and Knives Out movie like every 12-18 months, with maybe a Paddington film every year at the holidays.

It's #LetterboxdFriday! Of these movies I would recommend A Haunting in Venice, it was the best of the three and I liked the mood, story and crazy angles. Horror in the High Desert you should watch like the first 15 minutes and the last 20 minutes or so. #LastFourWatched

A Haunting in Venice was fun. The kind of non-superhero, non-prestige, entertaining mid-budget movie made for adults that they used to make a lot more of.

The palazzo in the centre of this is the one that the Agatha Christie film ‘A Haunting in Venice’ is set in. Quite fitting that we should be wandering past on halloween (which is absolutely crazy in Venice, big gangs of children going into cafes and shops and demanding caramelli).

#SpookySunday A Haunting in Venice is the third film with Kenneth Branagh as Poirot, loosely based on A Halloween Party by Agatha Christie. I haven't read the novel, but found the film pleasingly ghostly. Dodgy mediums, dead children, PTSD, and grief, avoid slipping from drama to pantomime.

Watching a Haunting in Venice, and the shots and acting are great, but whoever edited this movie made each shot barely 10 seconds long. Like, it's a mystery movie but they don't give us enough time to see if a shit has a clue in it!!!!

Just saw A HAUNTING IN VENICE and it was shot so much like a horror film with atmosphere and supernatural flavouring and ghosts and jumpscares that I think it should count in my list of #100HorrorMoviesin92Days... Horror/Mystery for sure. I don't know how I feel about it yet.

Someone I work with said a Haunting in Venice sounded boring just from me saying “it’s a mystery movie that is also spooky” and I have never felt less connected to a person in my life. Idk if the movie is good yet but “mystery+”spooky” would make me do the Fry fistful of dollars meme for any movie

I love that A Haunting In Venice plays like the movie a franchise makes to desperately reset. It brings in a fan favorite character and it feels like they dumped the people who blew it last time. And the movie is from the same writer while Kenneth Branagh still directs and makes a perfect Poirot.

I've no snobbery against movie tie-in editions of books, but am absolutely losing there's an edition of Hallowe'en Party that's been retitled A Haunting in Venice when, and this is kind of a big thing, the book is not set in Venice. Or outside the UK.

Tangent on most recent reskeets: I have a complicated relationship to Branagh's Poirot films, but A HAUNTING IN VENICE has Roma people as a plot point and the film *does not use the G word*, even though it would likely have been used in that time period. We can choose to reduce harm, always.

Didn’t like it, and the original “Death on the Nile,” Peter Ustinov’s first time as Poirot was so good that I would never watch the remake. But, “A Haunting in Venice,” with Branagh, which was an adaptation of a Christie story that I don’t think has ever been made into a movie was pretty good.

Watching A Haunting in Venice as I wrap up things before the holiday. It's the anti-season movie: today is hot & quiet while it's dark, gloomy, spooky, wet & full of jump scares. The best of Branagh's Poirots, rewritten to suit his view of the character as tormented. Tina Fey also amazing.
