positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DO NOT BUY the 2012 version! There is a Director's cut upgrade that came out in 2016 that does not link to the main game page. I bought the wrong version and can't get a refund. Don't make the same mistake. I only played a short while and do really like the game, so I intend to get the upgraded version on discount, but want to let people know to save their money. Older versions of games should be taken down or at least provide a warning that a newer version is available. Total BS.

I thought that it was for compatiblity issues for the game is quite old, but it worked just fine when I revisited it after 13 years.. omg it feels like yesterday! Btw this was my first digital purchase from Steam - no kidding. I made a promise for 26 not to buy too much new games but rather visit some older unfinished ones that have been forgotten in the corners of my library too long. I am happy that I gave this old pice a chance. And all in all I liked it…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I initally bought the game many years ago, closer to release I think. played it around half of it, but never finished it until now Despite many positive reviews by game journalists, I have a hard time recommending it. The game is a 2D platformer - survival zombie game, with gameplay consisting of mix of platform puzzles with a few combat encounters in each. You will mostly transition from room to room where you will have to usuelly climb a few platforms to enter the next one, and…

It starts off good, with atmospheric scenery and setting, though ruined by poor voice acting (that of the main character especially). However, it gets boring pretty quickly and the story starts going all over the place. I am not expecting a masterpiece for this price, but there are better games out there for the same amount of money.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game aged like milk. The controls are incredibly bad, it's frustrating. Its basically just an awful Limbo clone with guns and zombies. Don't bother, save your bucks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had this game sitting in my library for quite some time and decided to finally give it a chance about a week ago. At first, I struggled to understand the negative reception. While the animations are noticeably rough, the game features a strong visual style and some appealing artistic direction, which initially made it seem more promising than its reputation suggested. However, as I spent more time with it, the underlying issues became increasingly apparent. The most significant problem is the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →-Background versus foreground objects is frequently difficult -Interactable ledges not always clear -Nearly unplayable input lag -Context sensitive commands are finicky It's a post apocalyptic zombie cinematic platformer with terrible controls and visual design. Genuinely one of the worst games in my library.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very imprecise movement. Terrible melee combat sequences. Awful controls for a platformer. Felt like I was getting whiplash because the game would instantaneously switch between timed running sequences and slow (yet agonizingly easy) puzzle sequences. The game also encourages exploration with collectibles, which seems great at first... however, you'll quickly realize that if you take a wrong turn (one that doesn't lead to a collectible), your character will be quickly killed and you'll get sent…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i reads about the clunky controls and decided to try it anyway. and most the way through the game it wasnt that noticeable. i had hard time with wall jump and just try again and it would work. i dont know what i did different but i would always get it to eventually work. until late in the game there is a run sequence that requires it to work first try, and now im stuck.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I see this game has a lot of "mixed" reviews. Honestly, I think it was great! Don't know why I waited so long to play this game, but I finally got around to it 13 years after it came out. Although some of the dialogue seemed a little forced and some of the mechanics of the game were slightly off, I still rather enjoyed the beautiful artwork of this platform puzzler. I managed to beat the whole thing in under 7 hours, but probably could have done completed it faster if the wall jumping mechanics…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Box puzzles and instant-death chase sequences: the game. Everything about Deadlight is sub-par at best but the terrible controls stand above the pile of crap that is this game. This was clearly designed to be played with a controller (it's an XBLA port after all) but player movement and environmental navigation still feel awkward, regardless of control scheme, because of movement and control delays tied to animations. There's also several contextual controls that are individually mapped but are…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really want to love this game but the controls feel horrible at times. Love dying to the environment because the controls system is clunky and dose not want to seem to work. I really like the art style, and the story is good. The crafted world is interesting. Really had to decide how to rate the game because of the controls. Giving positive but god it was a hard choice. The controls are absolute dog, to the point you die over and over because you have to be really fast at parts of the game,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Forgettable game with janky controls, low polish and a generic post apocalyptic story with zero interesting characters. Skip this one.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I mean... it's alright. I was given a yes or no question. I found it okay, not terrible. The controls are a lil janky, but the most annoying part is how it takes the character a second to react to your moments. Not because of input lag, but because he literally can't do too many things at once like some others have said. It made it difficult to jump fences sometimes because of this, especially when speed is of the essence. You have to carefully wait and time your movement til after he's…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This time I agree with Metacritic. The game is beautiful and the atmosphere is well conveyed. The graphics are satisfactory, the controls are decent, and the story is engaging. 8/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The bottom 3 I absolutely remember. Deadlight I don’t remember at all, I think I just bought a Steam card and used leftover money on a cheap game in August 2014.
unlabelledView post →The premise is interesting and the game presents itself in the first act as an atmospheric zombie apocalypse with a bit of combat strewn in there. Unfortunately it then immediatley turns into a (bad) puzzle platformer and goes into "whacky" or "zany" tone with this Rat dude in the second act. I think I got whiplash by how fast the change of the tone was. The nice to look at visuals is the only positive thing I can say about this game. Everything else is bad, from voice acting, to a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A really good setting without too much going on where a lot can happen very quickly and where survival means to avoid enemies, save bullets and look for a quick escape instead of going all-out in a killing spree. The game has a simple story, nothing out of the ordinary but the simplicity and the visuals feel good. The grey tones, the lack of constant music, the sound effects, they are all a good fit when merged together. It’s a short game and it can be even shorter because more important…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game that works, but doesn’t inspire. It asked for my attention and gave me no reason to keep offering it. > A game doesn’t need to be perfect in its first 30 minutes. But it must at least be interesting.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is just one frustrating game. There are bugs that let you grab on to some point at one time and the next time you do it, you totally miss the same jump. Not a very long game, but will make you want to throw your controller through the screen more times than what it is fun. The last Nightmare Mode is the biggest piece of ****, that I have no other purpose, than stopping you from 100%'ing the game. Get it if you hate your PC and want to break it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One-timer. Pros.: - Intuitive gameplay. - Concept and theme. - Not annoying - fluid. Cons.: - Some poorly designed save points. - Gameplay bugs like inability to proceed several scenes without proper perfect jump performance.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this games controls are fundamentally broken coupled with the games super slow response and delay system parts of the game are nearly impossible. infact im done with this game for that reason. not gonna waste my time of a game this poor of QC.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good looking game with terribly cringe writing and finicky, unrealiable gameplay. The platforming is either super simplistic or trial and error. You either can't see where to go, or did things in the wrong order. The controls aren't reliable enough for quick gameplay or timed sequences, because Randal will decide which direction he's looking, and what kind of jump he wants to perform at any given moment, not you the player. There's much more to say but I've spent most of my energy on…

unlabelledView post →Deadlight is a side-scrolling survival game that stands out through its atmosphere, visual identity, and strong sense of tension. Set in a ruined world shaped by fear, isolation, and collapse, it presents a version of the zombie apocalypse that feels more reflective than explosive. Instead of focusing on nonstop combat, the game builds its identity around movement, vulnerability, and the constant pressure of staying alive in an environment that never feels safe. One of the game’s greatest…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short runtime but I dont mind that. Main problem for me was that pussles only have one given sollution so it feels more like pushing the buttons in order rather than solving them. Still played it through and the ending was just lazy imo. If you can get it on sale for a few bucks its a few hours of gameplay but dont expect a good story
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A pretty decent and atmospheric platformer, which I really enjoyed as a fan of The Walking Dead. This game has some pretty cool and interesting levels that test logic and speed, and a pretty good storyline. Unfortunately, the game is not without its drawbacks: when pausing the game, it can freeze for several minutes; sometimes, after dying, a level may not load completely, resulting in a black screen almost everywhere; there are also traps with transparent textures where you can get stuck :(…

After playing it for a little and not be able to get past a SINGLE SPECIFIC HARD TO DO JUMP, I uninstalled it and forgot about for 13 years. Finally while doing Steam Cleaning, I decided it was time to beat it. This game is a sale game 200%. The art is cool, some puzzles are ok, but other wise I was just annoyed half the time. The ending story is predictable and the character dialog makes my ♥♥♥♥ shrink. TLDR: Awful Ending, Do not get it, unless you…

Sadly it no longer holds that feeling for me due to the fact that the story is kinda meh and this version is buggy as all hell and completely ruined my experience altogether. Derinlik bize yok ama zombiler geliyor uzaktan. Güzel bulmacaları var. Ses efektleri iyi düzeyde. Zombi kesmekten ziyade hayatta kalma yoğunluklu.a Oyun kısa. İndirimde 3,74 $ değmez bence. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Kind of fun, until it becomes extremely difficult to jump, roll, crouch, etc at the precise time required.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beautiful and atmospheric. However, the poor controls, incredibly banal and campy voice acting, and boring storyline made this more annoying than enjoyable to finish. Inconsistent read of controls (like trying to jump off from hanging just not getting recognized over and over) led to dying dozens of times, which then made the whole experience choppy rather than smooth. Honestly, save your time and money and play a different game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Deadlight is a captivating side-scrolling survival horror game set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by zombies. With its atmospheric visuals and haunting soundtrack, it immerses players in a world filled with danger and despair. The game's platforming mechanics and puzzle-solving elements add depth to the gameplay, requiring players to navigate treacherous environments while avoiding the undead. Despite its short length and occasional frustration with trial-and-error gameplay, its engaging…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The most minor of recommendations. Great music, visuals, and world design are unfortunately let down by middling gameplay, poor voice acting, and a bizarrely meaningless plot. Commits several of the cardinal sins of game design - trial and error based puzzles, softlocks, dead end sequences, and inconsistent movement/interactions - making parts tedious to play through. It's just generally quite clunky and a bit buggy to boot. But I liked it enough to play it to the end. Worth a look if its on…

So look, this is a game had a lot of potential, but there's so damn much that holds it back. For the story, its a great start, but it crashes rather than leaves something great, especially since the MC could've clearly escaped too. As a platformer, it leaves a lot to be desired, especially with buggy gamepad controls, which I did at least verify to be the same on PC. For the mechanics, it'll…
