positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →After the success of an original game, spin-off games from a franchise are usually very easy to appreciate, and Dead Island Retro Revenge is a prime example of this. Gameplay of the first levels: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DejunxHFFI8 the story in Dead Island Retro Revenge is a bit cliche and limited, in the middle of the zombie apocalypse your cat is kidnapped by kidnappers and you are determined to get your buddy back, for this you will have to confront and defeat every undead and…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →MY RATING: 🌟 🌟 ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ ✘ 2 / 10 Since I didn't really look at the game, I assumed it was like Dead Island or something related to it, just kind of retro looking or something. But then I saw the start screen and yes, I really looked a bit stupid because I didn't expect it. So what is Dead Island Retro Revenge now? From what it looks like and what is suggested on the shop page, it should probably be a beat-em-up game such as Final Fight and others. But I would say that it isn't,…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Overall, Dead Island Retro Revenge is an awesome addition to the franchise, and I had a great time working through its challenging stages. It’s definitely not as deep or varied as the main games, but that’s kind of the point it leans into a simpler, arcade-style experience that feels refreshing. The side scrolling, retro inspired design gives it a completely different vibe, focusing more on fast-paced action and replayability than story or exploration. The combat is straightforward but…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't mind when a spinoff game goes for a completely different genre to change it up, but this game made the complexity of mechanics way too complicated, which results in a very ballbusting experience for the average player. If you are really into rhythm games where you need to hit buttons at the right time, this would be right up your alley. But for the average player I just can't reccomend this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My Purchases : Dead Island: Retro Revenge My scores for this game Story : 8/10 Maybe the first game of the story is meaningless for you, but after the end of the game, we will understand the whole story and it was interesting for me, but it was very short. Graphics : 4/10 I saw this game through the eyes of a Sega game, but I have nothing to do with graphics, but this PRESS A is always faint at the bottom of the page, exactly why ???????? Musics & Sound : 7/10 They could add a lot of dialogue…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This has nothing to do with retro, it's just bad. I'm 40 years old now and I've been playing video games every day since I was 6. My first console was an Atari 7800 - and even then there were better games. In the 80's and 90's the games were better than this! There are free games that are better. You could also stick a cactus up your butt which is better. No, just no. Junk!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, this was disappointing. The game looks like a Beat em all similar to arcade classics but in reality it's just a stupid run & gun (without gun) with 4 buttons to attack + 2 for specials and 3 lanes to move (your character is always going forward, you can only go up or down), the levels are divided into stages and worlds, kinda like a mobile game. The fake CRT effect is not enjoyable, it can be turned off to see the true nature of this thing. If you ignore the zombies and tries to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Pure and simple Arcade :] You've 3 levels and 24 missions, basically each one them has 8 missions. The game is extremely short :/ after you beat up the game, you unlock the marathon mode and survivor mode. I really enjoyed this game and I highly recommend if you want just to have fun and not think too much. Dead Island Retro Revenge 10/10 Heisen
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not a beat em up. Just a game where you choose one of four attacks to hit enemies while your character continuously runs. Each attack is a different swing so some enemies can't be hit by certain ones, or some attacks may give a bonus. But the fact that it isn't a co-op beat em up leaves a lot to be desired... for example... Dead Island 2. Where tf is it?
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was free in a bundle and I wouldn't have bought it on purpose. It's just not fun, it's really simple, it's kind of ugly, it doesn't really fit with the tone of the other Dead Island games. Definitely don't recommend.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are for some reason planning on buying this particular game in 2022 or beyond, don't.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple mini-game in retro style set in the Dead Island universe. Nothing much and nothing extraodinary, but it's alright. Basically, a bunch of loonies steal your cat and you have to get the kitty back. Problem is, there’s still a zombie apocalypse going on outside, so you have to fight your way through it all to save the cato 😸
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is not an old school arcade beat-em up. This is an auto-sidescrolling, poorly made, and boring game. You mash buttons and memorize enemy placement basically. This was included as part of a Dead Island package, making the other 2 games very cheap. This would never be worth an individual purchase.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →When I bought this game I thought I was getting a modern take on an old school beat-em-up. I guess it's my own fault for not reading the reviews. So here I am sitting in my room...all sweaty and stinky from playing this game. I broke a sweat just by mashing all these buttons. My thumbs are numb and I have a slight headache. The game is not totally bad tho...if you are one of those freaks who likes games that make you sweat for no reason...go ahead it is fairly cheap. But other than…

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →That's what happens when you sleep while gaming
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Wow. I wasn't expecting much, but this is just awful.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →What is this game you might ask. Well it's a disappointment that's for sure.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I didn't like it because of the character's constant running without stopping If the game was fighting with enemies without running, it would be more beautiful
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →good for arcade lovers = not good for me I suck at oldschool games

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Island Retro Revenge has almost nothing in common with the Dead Island series except the name. The gameplay is mostly about quick reflexes and avoiding obstacles. It feels more like a simple reaction test than an actual game. The final mission is frustrating, and the story doesn’t really add anything interesting.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i hate it, it's a knock off and bad version of metal slug LOL
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks like a side scroll beat'em up game but it is not. Totally have no idea why they make it a run and gun game. Totally wasted and huge disappointed. Refunded.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is hard to review. Objectively, it's a good game. It does everything it sets out to do. But it is INSANELY hard. Been stuck on the last level for about 2 hours. If Steam had a neutral button, I'd press that instead of the thumb down.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Why pollute the good name of DeadIsland? This is utter mobile trash.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Went in not expecting a lot but it took me by surprise! Really well done, focuses a lot on your ability to perform different combos on the spot. Comedical at times, too, and imo worth the money :D
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another solid spin-off in the Dead Island series that tries to capture the magic of the 16-bit era. It offers short, simplistic, arcade-style fun that’s perfect for a quick session. While I enjoyed the initial experience, the gameplay loop gets repetitive quickly - especially if you’re a completionist aiming for all the achievements. Pros: Great retro visuals. Varied enemy roster. Nice soundtrack. Cons: Very short playtime. Lacks mechanical depth.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →.It's a well-made arcade game, but you'll eventually start shouting like AVGN as you keep going. I like that it's about a guy trying to save his cat.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Before I played Dead Island Retro Revenge i had a small wee wee, no friends, no girlfriend, depression and absolutely no will to live. None of these things have changed, but the game is pretty good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's not a very good 3 lane kind of game. The tutorial is unintuitive where you have to read a manual rather than having something integrated in the game nor do the character designs clue you in on what to do to defeat enemies. There's also many times where there'll be three enemies side by side on all three lanes. Normally this shouldn't be an issue but the hitboxes of enemies touching you is so large you'll often change lanes and instantly take damage. With 3 health points being your maximum,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Short-Review Weird storyline, fat jack black looking retro gamer that has a cat and wants it back from the zombies or something like that. Plays like a mobile game, its an auto runner where you change lanes and hit enemies. There are barrels or enemies that you need dodging. If you dont memorize a level you could use a powerup too early and cannot proceed. I only watched the first level, new where the gameplay is going and decided to quit. Content slop at its finest.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cheap Runner with Cheap Shots Dead Island Retro Revenge is a simple little runner/brawler that can be fun in short bursts, but it loves to toss your skill out the window just when you think you’ve got it figured out. GOOD Simple but Skill-Based On the surface it’s an easy, lane-based beat ’em up, but you do need some timing and awareness to stay alive. If you’re into chasing scores or grinding out achievements, there’s enough here to keep your hands busy for a while. Decent…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Still good and fun game. Recommended if it on sell.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun retro styled game, worth the £1 paid for it. And has a great story with it too. Game-play has cool little tricks that you find out whilst playing the game as luckily the game doesn't hand hold you just let's you get on with it. Good for a nice few hours.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This could it be good beat 'em up game but they made a runner game and I actually give it a fair try , and I can say the game is not fun the difficulty of this game is through the roof and it becomes annoying to play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i dont like because i play too much bro :((( i lost my wife... my friends even my dog to this game :( i dedicated all my life savings so i can play this game... and it didnt even bring me joy :(((((((((((

Steam Sadly Doesn't Have That Function And I Don't Feel The Need To Leave A Negative Review For Something I Received In The Collection As A Small Bonus Game... Its Just A Scrolling Combat Zombie Arcade Game Which Repeats The Same Level Over And Over…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought the Dead Island Bundle, but this game is pretty cool
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Likely exists due to a contractual obligation, and starts out really bad but eventually becomes fun to play. It doesn't really feel like a retro game so much as a modern rail fighter with button timing elements. The game doesn't explain the combos, but once you actually know the correct way to play it becomes logical and intuitive. You can, for example, use a button combo to knock a zombie back and send its head flying to kill all the zombies behind him. If you don't know the combo it's just…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →not my favorite.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I still recommend Dead Island: Retro Revenge if you are someone who: enjoys retro arcade-styled games with a clear completionist goal doesn’t need a massive active online community is okay with a short-ish playtime likes the mix of fun + challenge and quirky tone However, temper expectations: it may not offer the large community or endlessly deep game world of big multiplayer titles. But for your stated likes — achievement hunting, fun style, manageable game — it ticks many boxes.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Island Retro Revenge, developed by Empty Clip Studios and published by Deep Silver, is a tongue-in-cheek spin-off from the well-known zombie franchise that trades its open-world survival horror roots for a fast-paced, retro-styled beat ‘em up. Released as a companion piece to the Dead Island: Definitive Collection, this game embraces a different tone entirely—it’s not about scavenging for supplies or surviving on a tropical island but about unleashing chaos in a neon-soaked, side-scrolling…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Decent side scroller game for handhelds worth the money. Thanks for family sharing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Plays like a fever dream someone had after binge-watching 80s action movies and eating expired beef jerky. The fun holds up about as well as a soggy cardboard box.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you’ve seen my other Dead Island review(s), you know that I'm not a big fan of this franchise, but this game is actually good and fun. I mean, I wouldn't buy the game if it wasn't in the Dead Island Bundle I purchased, and I definitely wouldn't buy it for the full price (the maximum for me would be $1.99), but even though it's just a short 16-bit game, I actually consider it by far the best game in the Dead Island Franchise (I only played Dead Island 1, Riptide and this one yet to play…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Island Retro Revenge: 100% COMPLETION REVIEW If you love completing games, take a look at our [url=https://store.steampowered.com/curator/44890520/]curator site. Might as well be called Retro Revenge, since this has absolutely nothing to do with Dead Island, apart from the existence of zombies. If one buys the Dead Island Collection, this is included. This is NOT a hack and slash game. The screenshots are deceiving: this is a side scroller game with subtle rhythm based mechanics.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →what a complete garbage game, not even worth $5. Stupid premise and stupid concept, don't know what the devs were smoking when they made this garbage. Don't bother buying this unless you're drunk enough to waste the 5 dollars it takes to buy this waste of space, delete this from the steam store please
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I spend some time searching for minimum requirements to write steam review. This game is so bad, that I wanted to write bad review after 2 minutes of game play, but Steam forces you to have 5 minutes of game play before you write review. Yes, this "game" is bad. It is hard, but this is the worst game in my library, if I knew what a steaming pile of ♥♥♥♥ it is, I would not buy a Dead Island bundle it is featured on, even if it was for free. I won't get this game even if they would pay me to get…

A retro scroller that tasks the player will memorising the combos that are applicable to different enemy types as they come into the right of the screen. The best plays and scores will be done by knowing which enemy to attack to fling a projectile forward to take out several more enemies. Its a short learning curve, and once you get the hang of it you will find its surprisingly addicting! The story consists of just 3…
