unlabelledView post →De Gaulle: Resistance Outstanding film, best new film this year. And as good a historical-political biopic as you could ever want to see.
unlabelledView post →De Gaulle: Liberté Just as outstanding as the first part. Together a must-see wartime biopic and cracking film. But also a must-see for understanding post-war history. A lot of post-1945 France-UK-USA relationship stuff becomes so much more comprehensible from watching this two-part movie.
unlabelledView post →So, two years ago, I played Ernest Bevin in this two parter epic French movie, De Gaulle. De Gaulle: Résistance and De Gaulle: Liberté (also known as La Bataille de Gaulle) and they've finally been released to mostly warm acclaim. Here's a phone snap before costume checks. 😄 Bon.

unlabelledView post →I never would have bet that I’d prefer a film about De Gaulle to a new Star Wars movie. Maybe that’s what getting older is all about. 🤭
unlabelledView post →Absolutely love the UK trailer for the De Gaulle biopic that is trying to dress the film up as a UK WW2 movie by using, presumably, most of the footage of Simon Russell Beale as a not very good Winston Churchill:
unlabelledView post →Simon Russell Beale now both the best on screen depiction of Winston Churchill (in the De Gaulle movie) I have seen and the worst I have seen (Operation Mincemeat).
unlabelledView post →I like how De Gaulle is portrayed as a fallible figure (proud, sometimes blind), while the film simultaneously depicts the fierce internal politics among the Allies. It effectively shows that the victory over the Nazis was a long, arduous process. As usual, Churchill is also a great movie character.
unlabelledView post →I might be being a bit slow here but I’ve only just twigged that Day of the Jackal tv series assassination target Ullee Dag Charles is an anagram of Day of the Jackal movie assassination target Charles De Gaulle.
unlabelledView post →Gosh, this is a fascinating and worthwhile read (though see the De Gaulle film first because of spoilers.
unlabelledView post →I've booked tickets for the Charles De Gaulle Film by Mistake
unlabelledView post →I went to watch the second De Gaulle movie "j'écris ton nom" with my 22 y old daughter. I got a bit teary at the end I have to say. There was some genius shot of how multicultural France was (is), some perfect quote of rebellion and resistance against hate.
unlabelledView post →Husband enjoyed De Gaulle: Résistance but did say after that he “hopes the next film brings in more of the stuff around his economic policies”
unlabelledView post →Vandaag deel II van de De Gaulle-film gezien. Prachtig.
unlabelledView post →DE GAULLE: LIBERTÉ 🎥🇫🇷 aka the most important movie of the year is out in the UK tomorrow and in the US soon. There's a new world order expressed in this film which especially as an American is shocking to see movieswetextedabout.com/the-enemy-is...
unlabelledView post →Bonjour les ORCs! Watched the De Gaulle film in French last night, so that was tiring! Ladies Lunch today, so we'll see how my friend's OH in palliative care is. It rained for 12 hours yesterday, so 2 soggy vet beds outside. Must get an update on Claude.....
unlabelledView post →Ouch . . 'Liberté j'écris ton nom' is a WWII poem referenced in the title of the new De Gaulle film. This lycée student's placard says 'I would write your name if I still had hands', after a 15-year-old boy had his hand blown off by a police grenade. The student anger is very real
unlabelledView post →It feels like whoever designed the sets for this movie spent a lot of time at Charles De Gaulle Airport. #bmoviemaniacs
unlabelledView post →The De Gaulle movie, which is called either Tilting Iron or Résistance in English, is a huge antifascist delight, with a major desert battle sequence, and with a massive heart as it tries so hard to fight, and fight, and do the right thing. I was blown away by it, if you couldn't guess
unlabelledView post →I loved the De Gaulle film and will see Part 2. Much will be made of General Leclerc, the 'liberator of Paris'. I have no problem with that, but if you want to know what he did next, in Vietnam, you could check out 1945 The Reckoning. youtube.com/watch?v=J6MR... Hint:It wasn't to liberate anyone!
unlabelledView post →What do people think of the upcoming biopic De Gaulle 🇫🇷? Coming soon to UK cinemas, personally I’m intrigued to see a French 🇫🇷 perspective rather than another American 🇺🇸. youtu.be/z8oZyRVrMD0?...
unlabelledView post →Enjoyed De Gaulle: Liberte, at @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social , following the previous Resistance. Particularly liked the way the film is at least, if not more, about the others working around De Gaulle, like Leclerc & his Free French fighters, or the Resistance, all working for freedom #film
unlabelledView post →Très très bien le film sur De Gaulle
unlabelledView post →Went to see the first De Gaulle film today. Really enjoyed it Learnt a few things, as did my 🇫🇷 wife m.youtube.com/watch?v=ppee...
unlabelledView post →Like I listened to this podcast on the way home from watching the second part of the new De Gaulle film. And that makes sure to signpost that Black and Arab troops were playing a full role in the Free French, and highlight American racism. We all have our stories to give liberalism historical weight
unlabelledView post →Out to The #Art Picturehouse in Cambridge to see De Gaulle Liberte #film Bit dramatic in places I thought 🤔 You can understand Frances 🇫🇷 post war mis-trust of America 🇺🇸 There is a great deal of politics between the allies in #WW2 that is seldom told 🪖 Gonna have to get a #book 📖 #France #history
unlabelledView post →De Gaulle part 2. As brilliant as the first film. The actor who played Leclerec gave splendid kepi, cane and greatcoat action. Rousing, inspirational stuff. Also it was great to see Montgomery depicted other than as an insufferable arse.
unlabelledView post →Right, medical stuff done (until tomorrow's hospital app, at least, sigh), so after lunch, remainder of the day off shall be at the fabulous @filmhouseedinburgh.bsky.social to watch De Gaulle: Liberté #Film

unlabelledView post →De Gaulle, film 2: Liberté (2026, dir Antonin Baudry). Alternate titles: * De Gaulle: The Sovereign Edge * La Bataille De Gaulle, film 2 : J’écris ton nom (I write your name) Part two of a two-part biopic following French army officer Charles De Gaulle's life and political commitment between 1940 and 1945, and trace his development towards a political career. https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1165369-la-bataille-de-gaulle-j-ecris-ton-nom
unlabelledView post →Out in the USA in November, DE GAULLE RESISTANCE is the first half of the most unmissable film of the year
unlabelledView post →De Gaulle: Liberté (Antonin Baudry, 2026, Cinecenter) NL: www.moviemeter.nl/film/1176835... A surprisingly large step back compared to Résistance. Nuance is replaced by chauvinism. Still no complaining about the old-fashioned war epic craftsmanship of it all. #filmsky #film 📽️
Well done, Sarah Sluimer🤌
unlabelledView post →I just watched the De Gaulle film, it's absolutely brilliant and I am excited for the sequel! The battle of Bir Hakeim was beautiful and I love the idea that De Gaulle picks up a British colonel by the lapels, telling him not to shoot at Darlan's French navy fleet at Dakar. And the oratory! 😭😭
unlabelledView post →Going to see the De Gaulle movie later on and cannot wait for "Notre Salut", about the collaboration in france during the Vichy gov, coming in the UK after the 10/10.
unlabelledView post →Autumn Sonata is by far the best movie I've seen this year, but not one I will rewatch anytime soon. Three much more positive movies to compensate for that. BU: Eagles of the Republic, The Nile Hilton Incident, Cairo Conspiracy, De Gaulle: Résistance,
unlabelledView post →De Gaulle: Résistance (Antonin Baudry, 2025, Het Ketelhuis) NL: www.moviemeter.nl/film/1176834... Mainstream historical epic done right, with the modern twist of not believing in Great Man Theory. Deserves a large audience. #filmsky #film #movie

unlabelledView post →Asked mum if she wanted to see the new De Gaulle film, fully aware of the fact that the only people she despises are General de Gaulle and Cat Deeley.

unlabelledView post →It's a Bank Holiday that neither my wife nor kids are getting so doing the only sensible thing there is - watching a two and half hour movie about De Gaulle.
unlabelledView post →Also big shoutout to the guys going to see De Gaulle looking at me in disbelief when I told them what i'm watched, and followed it up with "well we're watching a real movie", you can say anything you want darlings, it's movies! but know I am so much more powerful than you.
unlabelledView post →So I just saw both films in the new "De Gaulle" saga ("Résistance" and "Liberté") and I really think my fellow non-French Europeans should see them too. Because this is some genuine European history.
unlabelledView post →I was honestly stunned that the Jadotville movie explicitly paints De Gaulle and the FFL as antagonists and the primary instigators of the Congo Crisis because NOBODY talks about that shit lmao
unlabelledView post →And the sequel DE GAULLE LIBERTY is getting a December release and America needs to see it: There's a new world order expressed in this film which especially as an American is shocking to see movieswetextedabout.com/the-enemy-is...
unlabelledView post →Bonjour! Actually slept OK. Probably exhausted from watching a film about De Gaulle during the war, in French! Ladies Lunch today, so we'll get an update on my friend's OH in palliative care. I cannot get my head round the fact he's still alive, at 40 kilos? The weekend looms! HAGD!
unlabelledView post →Just Oxford to see the second De Gaulle film. In upsetting news, the cinema bar is closed?!
unlabelledView post →I've now watched the second De Gaulle film, Liberté (how powerful j'écris ton nom is), and how terrific they both are. Left the cinema both times bowled over and buzzing. If you haven't been, go!
unlabelledView post →I agree, it's mad as I learnt it as school: Petain capitulate De Gaulle goes to England Start the france Libre people join..etc.. Never I thought it was insanely mad..but that movie remade me think that part of history.
unlabelledView post →Like The Madness of King George (III), the absurdity of this President and his thinly veiled efforts to promote own lunatic legacy is setting back U.S decades not making it Great again. But beyond the silver screen, with a year to go until the presidential elections, De Gaulle has perhaps never been so politically fashionable. #France #politics #cinema #DeGaulle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vJvId8g4XOs
