unlabelledView post →Man, I've been doing a really bad job with movie-watching this month. Days of Being Wild, which I've just finished watching, is the first film I saw this month. Returning to Wong Kar-Wai is always a pleasure with how much his movies speak to me. Tempestuous characters, loneliness in a big city...
unlabelledView post →134.) 2046 (2004) Red's movie night Wong Kar-wai's grand epilogue to Days of Being Wild and In the Mood for Love. A poetic work about heartbreak and the desire to recapture memories told gloriously through amazingly entrancing retro-futurist visions. Probably his most ambitiously-shot film.
unlabelledView post →112.) Days of Being Wild (1990) Red's movie night A spellbinding film about longing and using chauvinistic charisma as a means to hide how truly empty you are as a person. Leslie Cheung plays such a cad in this movie and yet you can't help but feel sorry for him by the end.
unlabelledView post →Watched another Wong Kar Wai film today at Prince Charles Cinema. Days of Being Wild is among my Top 3 of his films (but still haven't seen quite all of his films), together with Chungking Express and In the Mood for Love
unlabelledView post →In 1990, Wong Kar-wai released DAYS OF BEING WILD, a melancholy and meditative film about love and regret. Its cast included Tony Leung and Jacky Cheung, and it grossed HK$9.7M. It spawned a wacky 1992 parody film, DAYS OF BEING DUMB, which starred Tony Leung and Jacky Cheung. It grossed HK$9.8M.

unlabelledView post →I came across this movie frame (Days of Being Wild, Wong Kar-Wai) and I've been trying to nail the perspective of the drawing with no success (drawing perspective rulers on the most visible straight lines). I feel like I'm brute-forcing this. What method is there to analyze these kind of shots?
unlabelledView post →In the Mood for Love is one of the greatest films ever made. (But I love Days of Being Wild more!) This essay attempts to be as beautiful as the movie. Enjoy.
unlabelledView post →The scene with Tony Leung in Days of Being Wild (Wong Kar Wai - 1990) was like a teaser in the film. Leung practiced this scene so many times that every movement in that tiny space was in his muscle memory. Such a wonderful actor <3

unlabelledView post →Watched Wong Kar-wai’s Days of Being Wild I wasn’t unimpressed with it, but I wasn’t as blown away as I expected to be, I think. It was good, very dream-like at times, which aided the feeling of hopelessness that prevails through most of the film. Its message was pretty clear, I just wanted *more*
unlabelledView post →Oddly enough I just watched “Days of Being Wild” after meaning to see it for years. Maybe my favorite of his despite one of the more baffling final shots of any film I can recall.
unlabelledView post →I find the placement of Days Of Being Wild here to be alarming. That movie has been done dirty by not having a stand-alone release.
unlabelledView post →Days of Being Wild (1990) Longing, loneliness and love: three topics this movie examines and understands more than most things I've seen. Such a cold, raw experience at the center of which is the most punchable piece of shit.

Days of Being Wild (3.5/5): i didn’t like the main male character (performance or character itself) and that made me not really get into this movie. a mistake to have andy lau as a secondary character when he has so much chemistry with maggie cheung and would have made this make sense

unlabelledView post →I'd say yes to those between "Days of Being Wild" and "In the Mood for Love". But, in all honesty, the film quality went down after that and, perhaps not coincidentally, I don't find their soundtracks memorable.

unlabelledView post →I didn’t know about Patrick Tam at all. He was apparently one of the major figures in what’s known as Hong Kong’s New Wave. After this film he edited Wong Kar-Wai’s Days of Being Wild and Ashes of Time, back to back.

unlabelledView post →Now that’s controversial! I think it’s actually the better film by most standards I’d typically judge something. But DAYS OF BEING WILD just hit me a lot harder for whatever reason.
unlabelledView post →Days of Being Wild. The fourth film I’ve seen from the seeming master of romance but I’ll say it was probably my least favorite. Not bad but I wasn’t feeling for it as much as the others I’ve seen. 6.5/10
unlabelledView post →149) Days of Being Wild A perfectly fine movie unto itself, but as this informal trilogy brought me to 100 feature films this year, within just five months, I'm seriously rethinking my commitment to write up every single title I watch, read or play. I just don't have much to say about this.

unlabelledView post →Days of Being Wild (1990, dir. Wong Kar-wai) This is where the Wong Kar-wai film begins to truly materialize, an ethereal film about love, longing, and loneliness in 1960s Hong Kong. A stark improvement over As Tears Go By, which is already quite good. 8/10

unlabelledView post →165. Days of Being Wild (film): an earlier WKW film, likely more modest of a production than what would be to come but plays into it as something more dreary than the heightened sensuality of his later stuff. Plot feels too wispy even still, not quite at his best, but it’s still WKW. 7-8/10

unlabelledView post →Despite watching the final act of Happy Together when I was very young I only began getting into Wong Kar-wai last year. In the Mood for Love is my favorite romance movie. As Tears go By is excellent though the Lannister flow is difficult to ignore. Days of Being Wild is also very good.

unlabelledView post →I suppose you might call the dashingly handsome "Yuddy" (Leslie Cheung) a bit of a Lothario. He has good looks and charm, and he sails through life thinking only of himself. His ideal existence comes to a bit of an abrupt halt, though, when his alcoholic courtesan of a mother "Rebecca" (Rebecca Pan) reveals to him in a drunken stupor that she isn't actually his mother at all. The rug has now been pulled from under his cocky feet and he now embarks on a rather self destructive journey to find…
