What people are saying
Most players find it a fun, simple RTS, but some dislike mobile-style controls and rigid objectives.
Many players praise the game for its fun, simple mechanics and humorous style, calling it a refreshing RTS that is easy to pick up but offers depth. One player says it is 'a lot of fun' and 'clever enough to scratch the RTS urge,' while another calls it 'a great little RTS with cute graphics and brutal Slavic sense of humor.' [3][18]
However, some players criticize the game for its mobile-inspired controls and lack of strategic freedom, feeling it is a chore to play. One negative review states 'the control scheme is frustrating' and 'feels like a half-baked PC port of a mobile game,' while another complains about 'no mission freedom' and a 'set way to complete the missions.' 60 of 196 · most liked first19 minutes in, and I'm already hooked. Playing each level over to get all three in-game achievements is where the challenge lies. This style of game is new to me (I'm 68), but it's good fun,
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really wanted to like this game, I tried more than once, but in the end I think it has one major flaw that I just can't get over. It doesn't know what it wants to be. It's suppose to be an RTS but it isn't exactly, the game is designed around a beer economy power up system that requires you beat missions the way they want you to. Every. single. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. mission. has a set of 3 rules that you need to follow in order to earn beer, the games meta currency, which often restricts you to a single…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush Your Enemies is an RTS in the same vein as Advanced Wars. The artwork is great, and the dialogue is certainly funny. Overall, my problem with it is the controls and timing being such critical factor for success that it makes it more stressful to play, instead of fun. I played with both mouse and keyboard and XBox360 wireless. I played the demo for ~2 hours, and I was very impressed. For some reason, the full game does not suck me in nearly as much. I honestly don't know why, but feel…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was reviewed using a code sent by the developer/publisher but this did not effect my opinion on the game. Crush Your Enemies is a real time strategy game, developed by Vile Monarch, and published by Gambitious Digital Entertainment, releasing on PC, Android and iOS in July 2016. The game has a humorous take on the real time strategy genre, the same developers who brought us This War of Mine invites you to a magical world of Generia. Whilst Crush Your Enemies is part of the RTS…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a lot of fun. The top rated negative reviews almost convinced me not to buy it but it was on sale and I’m glad I did. It was a lot of fun. Not groundbreaking but clever enough to scratch the RTS urge. I played through the whole game in 3 – 4 sittings. The “most helpful” recent negative review fails to mention that you don’t have to get 3 heads (stars) following 3 rules when playing a mission. You can get 1 or 2 of 3 and go back and get the others later. And the number of heads…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's clear that a lot of love was put into this game, but as it stands the control scheme is frustrating to say the least. I didn't realize when I bought this that I was getting something that feels like a half-baked PC port of a mobile game. It might work really well on a touch screen, but the entire game consists of telling guys to move here and there, and on the PC the operations for doing so are difficult and finnicky. On top of that, several of the stages have a time limit. It's not fun…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →games are short. there is no alternate strategy. either you do it in a certain way, or you will fail. the strategy can be to turtle, to rush, to divide your forces in 5 places at once and monitor all of them at the same time. if you want a short game, this is for you. if you want to bang your head and try the same mission with 1 village against 4 enemy villages again and again, this game is for you. most of the time you will NOT get even odds. only when you are presented with a new mechanic…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bought this based on gameplay videos of early levels and the fantastic trailer, I absolutely regret my purchase. Do not buy this game. Good art style. Funny. Controls are good enough; they feel awkward at points. Clicking doesn't seem to always register as it should. Apparently it is a mobile port which would explain that. Unit balance is terrible; as not. At. all. It completely ruined my experience. For an example, ranged units that stun melee until they are at half health and then can…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First impression - This game is sweet After 5th mission "Thats all? Game is getting bored..." Starting 2th campaign "Wow.. New big strategy feature. It's getting challenging" Crush Your Enemies is polished nasty strategy game with a good game idea with a lot of design mistakes. What i like. 1) Simple and undestanding rules for a strategy game 2) Funny and brutal animation (especially battles) 3) There were some challenging levels where i was forced to think hard to pass it through 4) You…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great fun! Simple mechanics make it easy to jump in an play. Cool art style and a cast of hilarious characters 10/10 would recommend
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game design is not bad but the combination of necessary micromanagement and lack of fluid controls makes it a chore, especially trying to complete some of the objectives that require precision. The mouse controls were not sufficient and made it very obvious that this is a port from mobile.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush your enemies is a game that tries to blend fast action and an RTS style. The game focuses on Robust Barbarians as you can see, who Crush their enemies... As you can see. Regardless, if you want to know if the game suceeds at it's blend of two Genres, the consider checking out my review.. http://www.keengamer.com/article/13684_crush-your-enemies-review Here I will show my brief pros and cons for the games also, to give you an idea of what my review is like. negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No perceivable AI in what is supposed to be an RTS is just so disappointing. Also likes to put Time Limits for mission success on many occasions = sorry that's just plain NOT FUN ! Devs could of done so much better if they actually knew what made those classic RTS games of the past so successful. Hint "allow more than one way to win any given mission". I'm sure there will be absolutely no reason to replay this once the campaign is completed.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush Your Enemies Mobile always kills freedom in game play and strategy.. with this Sh*tty Game you have no mission freedom to figure out unique ways to beat the AI.. always has a set way to complete the missions and if you deviate at all you don't collect enough points to advance... Feels super Mobile and that kinda crap should stay on pocket bricks.. steam deserves better! Dont pick this up, i got it in a cheap bundle package, not worth it. 3/10
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game has a massive flaw that comes up in later levels and makes beating the AI ridiculous. This flaw is that the UI is clunky as hell, so clunky that you can not appropriately react to the AIs actions. Not only can you not react properly but the AI has that ability that you as the player do not have making later stages not unfair because it is challenging but because the player input is extremely hampered. I would actually say that the player is so handicapped in comparison to the AI that…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very good game in my opinion, it has simple mechanics, but can be hard to master. As expected from an indie developed , it is a rather short game, the 2 campaigns took me about 6 hours. I don't know if it is worth the full Steam price, I bought it on a sale for 3,99euro. It's generally funny, and has some really great moments. The soundtack is also okey, but not excelent. TL;DR: It's good. Play it
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush Your Enemies is a fun and addictive strategy game created by the Vile Monarch team. The game is a mixture of classic strategy and innovative ideas that allow the player to use tactics and strength to win. I played this game and I really liked its game offer and the atmosphere of the game. In "Crush Your Enemies" you play as a bloodthirsty warrior who tries to take over the whole world and destroy all his enemies. In order to defeat the enemy, you need to use strategy to outwit the enemy…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush Your Enemies is a simplistic version of Kingdom Rush. Your overall goal is to pillage. While it may sound simple. This is where the Kingdom Rush part comes in. No, it isn't that simple. In that game you have figure out where to place your defenses and soliders, etc. Here. It's more on the lines of chess. Only with barbarians; you need to really figure out how to defeat your enemy before they become a bit too much for you to handle. The more time you waste. The more time the enemy will…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice music and the art style is okay, but it's mechanically simple, repetative, and the humour is terrible - I don't feel like a parody of Conan and other Barbarian settings should have its humor based on facebook and other real life unrelated stuff, because that's not a parody of the setting which is what it came across as. Maybe that's a personal thing, but it feels more like a jab at modern society rather than the barbarian setting that it presents it self as, making it seem less like a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →3/10 this click and drag mobile gameness kills it for me also the amount of clicks needed to close the game.... cant alt f4 and alt ctrl deleing is faster
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Most entertaining game trailer on Steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Though the campaign can be finished in about 3 hours or so, this game is ridiculously fun. At first I thought it would turn out rather boring and slow-paced but hell, wasn't I wrong. Crush your Enemies isn't as it says, a 'glory-days-RTS' since it shares so few similarities with the genre as it was in the early 00s, but it does show its creativity as a standalone game. Pros: -Tile-based one-screen seems obvious enough for turn-based strategy but for real time it's something new. You're always…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →UI is terrible. Missions have impossible to complete tasks that forces you to replay them. If you don't complete tasks you can't unlock new levels. Every mission has a stupid timer task. Also there is no strategy involved while playing, you either play the way developer wants you to play or fail the mission. It's garbage!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A very (initially) fun and enjoyable semi real time strategy game at a glance that quickly devolves into a giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of archaic and mind-numbingly stupid "war-against-the-controls", as well as a virtually freemium mindset when it comes to the AI (read: bordering ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥) Crush your enemies has a lot of things going for it that sadly get hampered by whomever decided to NOT include any kind of configurable control layout, complete lack of quick controls (which trust me, get pretty…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No reason such a cute and colorful game should have so much crass language. Also, Adam Jensen never asked for this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I got won over by this game! It's certainly a mobile-type with simple controls and three star scenarios but there's a lot of polish for a humble idea here and there's continually more and more additional elements to make things interesting. Great music, amusing writing, and I think the pixel art is great at getting the point across. Complaints wise the objectives aren't always easy and require a remarkable amount of math at times for a game supposedly about big dumb barbarians attacking…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game can be fun however some of the challenges make me want to kill myself thereby killing all the fun I was/trying to have. Some of the challenges such as time trials and not having more than 20 people in one group are some of the more annoying ones. I highly recommend not trying to complete all the challenges.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple yet fun game mechanic that is easy to play but somewhat hard to master. The style is very humourous as well.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It was fun at first then and especially if you want to get all 3 skulls on every level you have to do them over and over in oder to get everything to come together perfectly, its like a stressfull puzzle.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Folks, seriously... This game is perfect. I played oldschool RTS back in my highschool times for hours. Then I grew up, got a job and had to satisfy my gamers needs with some puny mobile games with 3 minutes of gameplay. Now finally I managed to get my hands on Crush Your Enemies and I was like: - Ok, I have exactly 10 minutes so let's play... My GF detached me from my fanatic gaming trans 2h later. - How did that happen? I had to literally force myself to uninstall the game so I could…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game features two campaigns that gradually introduce new units and game mechanics. Each scenario is finished quickly (under five minutes, typically), and achieving specific side objectives will allow further missions to be played. Crush Your Enemies does have online multiplayer but lacks skirmish games against the AI. The interface was designed for mobile devices and doesn’t take advantage of the mouse; splitting armies is particularly cumbersome, as mouse wheel input is ignored. Each unit…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →“This is a great little RTS with cute graphics and brutal Slavic sense of humor. The only problem is that the UI is obviously geared towards tablets. Mouse control feels a little awkward. Try the demo”
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simple RTS with wonky controls. Starts out with goofy premise, but later you realize the game interface is really just as goofy. Probably a port from tablet computers. I played this on two ubuntu linux systems, and it technically worked great on both. It has low system requirements, and the pixel graphic animations always run quickly. However, the controls seem designed for a touch-interface, so it feels really weird commanding troops, with a pc mouse. Even so simplified, the controls feels…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I came into this game faily excited. However I quit being extremely frustrated. If you don't mind being a completionist, this game could be fun otherwise, dont bother. This game is ok as a mobile game while traveling I guess, but this is one of the few games I got in excited, and got out frustrated and enraged. Good things +++ Game play: it's easy and simple! so far so good, it has some interesting rock scissors paper way of using the right units in the right places in the right way.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really well made game. solid, fun, engaging gameplay that evolves. writing is funny and the pace of the game is amazing. i recommend. it is a great 10 dollar value. i was satisfied
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The mean game with unclear sense. If it's a hardcore gem, then controls are extremely dumb and unprecise: it takes up to 3 seconds to split a group of units, making micro-management almost impossible. In other hand, if it's a simple time-killing adventure, then it's complexity level is roughly unregulated. There are simple levels adjoining hardcore unpassable ones with vast amounts of micro-management included. The game looks like a student's practical, it would look alright as a free-to-play…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I loved the Game right from the beginning. + Single Player is really fun with these crazy dialogues, and teach you the game in an easy way + Multiplayer is much fun to play against other people on the internet +Since you are able to move your units whenever you want, the game becomes more controllable and there is more skill required as the game looks in the first place. + Still this game is very very easy to understand and dont take much time. + The Design is simple and clean + There are…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →COME ON! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? UAUAGHGUAHGHGH Crush Your Enemies is a fun, unique twist on the RTS genre. With elements of those games where you have to link points to pump spawned minions to another point, and elements of Fire Emblem style rock-paper-scissors. The only negative that I can see is that it feels like it's made for a mobile platform. If this game had hotkeys I'd be like 200x better at it.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Not bad..... can have a try....
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice little challenging game. There is multiplayer and two different campaigns, in the first one all you have to do is "Crush your Enemies", in the second one, you have to crush them while gathering resources. A slightly more difficult variation of the same formula, which you'll probably don't even complete. Take it as what it is: a minimalistic and extremely basic RTS that also came out on Android. It may be a good for 2€ and for wasting few hours, nothing more.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Worth its price. Easy to play but it requires some focus to be mastered. Soundtrack is catchy. Overall it deserve a Muk /10. And would Crush again.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refreshing little RTS, with engaging, fast-paced battles and crude, but oddly charming sense of humor. If you are looking for a strategy game, that is extremely easy to pick up, but ultimately offers a fair amount of depth, Crush Your Enemies is something for you.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →https://youtu.be/0dbFtrvkfUo Much more a puzzle game than a strategy game at times due to rewarding efficient number crunching generates friction from the barbarian horde theme.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game does largely achieve its goal of being a small-scale, lightweight RTS, but that just didn't really click for me, and I found the writing and humor pretty grating.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Crush Your Enemies is an absolute gem of a game! I think it's a fantastic blend of simplicity and challenge within the RTS genre. I really enjoy that the game takes traditional RTS gameplay elements and boils them down to something more akin to an 'arcade experience.' Familiar RTS concepts like resource management, unit recruitment, territory acquisition, and a 'rock-paper-scissors' combat balance are all present but have been greatly simplified. The 'bite-sized' game mechanics help keep…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Poor, finicky UI turns this game from cute, simplistic RTS into frustrating micromanagement hell. Stay away.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I noticed the game during a random sale and the combination of visual design, music and gameplay seemed interesting. Bought it, was too busy to play it at the time, came back to it months later and boy am I enjoying myself! This is an awesome combination of RTS mechanics, tablet game mechanics and a nice dose of humour. The music and art style compliment it very well to create a gem of a game. If you're not sure about it, you can try it on mobile (it's a sort of demo), with the added…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Interesting that the story is basically an allegory for the similiarities between dudebros and stereotypical barbarians (given, of course, that the barbarian concept is fiction; see fear of the unknown, etc.). Gameplay is quite fun. A nice mash up of Advance Wars style gameplay and rules with a more RTS feel. Having impaled heads instead of stars or whatever to indicate completing goals in levels is offputting. First villain/adversary is super gay coated. Complete lack of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I must say, that after finishing two campaigns I'm impressed. - Excellent pixelart. - Fаrt/bооbs/immortal snails/hobbit pоrп jokes are true gold for an admirers of such form of entertainment. - Fast-paced RTS with interesting well balanced types of units. Decisions are never easy. If you like mentioned sense of humor and miss good ol' RTS games where one bad decision could end with failure, I recommend you to crush your enemies. I really do. Crush every one of them with bad boys Brog, Muk…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's an interesting new concept of a real time strategy game. Despite its poor ai, some bugs and unimaginative achievments, it's fun to play and not too difficult to finish.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Technically the game belongs to the RTS genre, but it also has a strong board game feel to it. The art style and the soundtrack is awesome. I've also really enjoyed the humor.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Cool strategy game, mixed with some off color humor. Simple game play, slowly evolving into more. I still don't know what the beer is used for...maybe it will eventually tell me!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great little game.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best fcuking RTS I have ever played!! <333
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Amazing game! Fun to play with friends and then get destroyed by snails. Only thing that I would like more is a level creator/editor! So people can upload workshop maps for others to play on themselves.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I don't even like the RTS genre, the only reason I bought this game is because the trailer with the barbarian reading the reviews made me laugh out loud. Turns out it's actually quite fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very good, simple fast RTS-like for evening or two. (5.5h to get through campanies - not 100%)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →we all know how they ''recrute'' new soldiers...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Really fun and original! The game play is easy to understand but really challenging to get 3 stars. Hope there's more DLC for new levels but soundtrack&wallpapers.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Behind the seeming simplicity hide some solid strategy ideas - the game is perfect if you want to play some quick matches, destress a little and relax. And the wicked sense of humour - grab a beer and play the game, it's worth it ;)
