There may be a movie here, but you won't be able to see it. This is one of those movies where the advent of HDR had the crew go, "Well, let's turn off all the lights and fire the post-production crew." In other words, it's impossible to see what's going on. Absolutely unwatchable.

By: Louisa Moore / www.ScreenZealots.com I tend to be skeptical when it comes to a studio reboot of a film franchise, but “Confess, Fletch” breathes fresh, new life into the series. Based on the Gregory Mcdonald books, the movie sees Jon Hamm stepping into the role that was made famous in the mid-80s by Chevy Chase. The result is a sharp and clever elevated murder mystery for adults. Investigative journalist Irwin …

I really liked this movie. It went against my expectations right out of the gate. I don’t know if I would like the original Fletch film with ChevyChase as much as I did as a younger viewer, but I remember enough to say that it was all Fletch. Not so much here. Chevy’s Fletch dominated the story, perhaps every scene. I still remember his sarcastic Oh good, the police, when a corrupt cop showed up. This Fletch movie …

FILM FREAK FRIDAY #FilmFreakFriday CONFESS, FLETCH (2022) A charming, delightful film that got lost in the Covid mess. Jon Hamm makes the perfect Fletch. Check it out. Available on Paramount +.🎥

After a couple of previous false starts I finally watched Confess Fletch last night. Jon Hamm is excellent as Fletch but the film felt far too lightweight and compromised, with most of your third act delivered in hasty exposition rather than visually. A shame we won't get any more though.
How this was made: an AI model (deepseek-v4-flash) read 34 of the 135 public posts we collected about this film and wrote the summary, likes and dislikes, citing the posts behind each point ([n] opens the post). A second AI pass checked every statement against the posts it cites; anything it could not match was removed, and code removed any statement with quotation marks, numbers that are not in the posts, or unattributed claims about people. The split is counted from the posts’ own ratings. Generated Oct 13, 2026. Method

positive · AI labelView post →I saw Confess, Fletch at a 4 pm showing with one other person in the entire theater. Even in rose dire circumstances it was a delight. It’s a William Powell movie made in this century.
positive · AI labelView post →Now rewatching Confess, Fletch, and dreaming of the world where the third Jon Hamm Fletch movie is coming out in the fall after the second one was even funnier than the first
positive · AI labelView post →Watching Confess, Fletch. Fun movie imo!
positive · AI labelView post →#LetterboxdFriday #LastFourWatched TMNT2 - go, Ninja, go! Punisher - eh. Is what it is. Killing - classic for a reason Confess, Fletch - ya'll done fucked up by not supporting this movie when it was released. We could have had more Jon Hamm Fletch, but nooooooo. This is on you. We're done here
positive · AI labelView post →I saw Confess, Fletch in a theater with only one other viewer, the worst possible approach to a comedy, and it was -still- delightful. I kept thinking that it’s basically a William Powell movie, made today.
positive · AI labelView post →You know what was a good movie? Confess, Fletch (2022).
positive · AI labelView post →In a perfect world, we’d be getting a second #Fletch movie with Jon Hamm right about now. #ConfessFletch
neutral · AI labelView post →Last night’s movie - Confess, Fletch. Fun. They should make more of these sort of movies. <checks internet, plans for sequel cancelled - oh.>

neutral · AI labelView post →The last time I bemoaned the tragedy we still don’t have any sequels to CONFESS, FLETCH, I got a follow from @gregmottola.bsky.social. This time, I want a follow from Jon Hamm. (He’s not on BlueSky AFAIK, but hey, perfect reason for him to join. 🙂) Follow the rando who liked your movie, Jon Hamm!
positive · AI labelView post →Movie of the Day Confess, Fletch (2022) Directed by Greg Mottola Not getting another Fletch film with Jon Hamm is a true crime, great movie. #fletch #jonhamm
positive · AI labelView post →In the mood for another Greg Mottola film and it has Lorenza Izzo, so it can't be that bad Confess, Fletch on Letterboxd boxd.it/ra9K
neutral · AI labelView post →I might give Confess Fletch a chance then I read the original novels back in the 80s The earlier movie treatment seemed to misjudge the character
neutral · AI labelView post →When my disability starts, I'm getting every box set, every film, ever series, & Confess, Fletch and Paramount+ is fucking gone. The only reason we got your jenky fuckass CBS All Access was for Trek. This decision was made when they fired Colbert. No new Trek? No reason to keep your shit app.

positive · AI labelView post →Pure feature of TV ( although Confess Fletch is great partly cause that’s just a TV movie) no idea why there is this difference I can only think it’s the different way TV and movies are shot/organized
neutral · AI labelView post →If I'm being honest Confess, Fletch is my favorite film of the decade.
positive · AI labelView post →Netflix has Confess Fletch! An absolute gem of a movie and Jon Hamm is superb in it. It might not be gentle on my brain, but at least the dialogue will get in there without further processing...
positive · AI labelView post →Confess, Fletch is a very wryly funny film and had a lot of fun Boston locations to point at. Jon Hamm does a great job. Recommend! #MovieRecommendation #Boston #Comedy #ConfessFletch
positive · AI labelView post →The issue is that Confess, Fletch was a straightforwardly good movie. There isn’t much to post about it besides “I liked that movie and they should make more movies like this”
positive · AI labelView post →Incidentally Picardo was terrific in a small role in "Confess, Fletch", the recent Jon Hamm movie you should see if you haven't (and you probably haven't)
positive · AI labelView post →Also: The recent Fletch movie, Confess, Fletch, is a lot of fun. I’ve said before that it’s like a minor William Powell movie, made today. Which is extremely high praise in my book.
positive · AI labelView post →CONFESS, FLETCH is up on Netflix and boy, howdy, was that movie funny. John Hamm is perfect in it. Inspector Monroe: We obtained surveillance footage from a store around the corner. Fletch: Where the fudge is made?
positive · AI labelView post →Confess, Fletch. Really good, had terrible timing and came out in 2022. Everybody in the movie is having a great time.
positive · AI labelView post →Still pissed that we're not going to get a Confess, Fletch sequel but, my friends, you can still watch Confess, Fletch, which is what you should be doing right now.
positive · AI labelView post →Anyone who didn't see Confess Fletch in theaters isn't allowed to be mad about Jon Hamm in the Poptarts movie. You failed him when he needed you most, this is on your head
neutral · AI labelView post →He's soooooo good in CONFESS, FLETCH, a film I still think more people should be talking about, not to mention MacLachlan just in general.
positive · AI labelView post →I did watch Confess Fletch on my last flight and found that pretty much perfect for a plane, it feels like a tv movie anyway so the small screen didn’t hurt, fun, breezy, no masterpiece, moves quickly.
neutral · AI labelView post →Honestly think we'd get those sequels if Confess, Fletch ran two or three times a month on TBS or TNT and we still lived in the basic cable era. Regardless, it's become my go-to folding clothes movie, a high honor in this house.
positive · AI labelView post →I rarely ever express that I wish a movie were a show instead. It seems blasphemous. But allow me to blaspheme because CONFESS, FLETCH feels like an extended pilot to a show I would watch way more episodes of. Scratches a very similar itch to POKER FACE (more so than resembling Chevy’s version).
positive · AI labelView post →'Tis the season for holiday movies and films that take place over the holidays. This week's watchlist: The Advent Calendar (2.5 stars) The Sacrifice Game (3 stars) Abigail (4 stars) Confess, Fletch (3.5 stars) #Movies 🎥 #LetterboxdFriday
positive · AI labelView post →Although 'Confess, Fletch' (2022) is good enough. Its still hard to one up Chevy Chase 1985 movie. You really can't. I don't think it matters who took over the role. You ain't beating Chase
neutral · AI labelView post →Totally get that, there’s something deeply satisfying about a smart, well-crafted movie that doesn’t need to be “great” to be a good time. *Confess, Fletch* especially has that breezy, witty charm, and *You Hurt My Feelings* nails the small, observant human moments.
positive · AI labelView post →Just watched "Confess, Fletch" for the second time (in town with some family who hadn't seen it who I suspected correctly would dig it) and I've sait this before but guess what: that movie rules and it sucks so much almost nobody saw it
positive · AI labelView post →This thread is making me remember how the movie “Confess, Fletch” used these parts of Boston really well - even though it was a more modern movie. The Corner Pub in the Leather District is a perfect choice for a lunch meet at the bar between a Herald writer and investigator
neutral · AI labelView post →The fact that we should be on at least the third Confess, Fletch movie and yet we only have the one is deeply frustrating.
positive · AI labelView post →Just discovered this cute movie: Confess, Fletch. Jon Hamm in the lead role and overall great cast. Very well done crime movie with comedic elements. Recommended
positive · AI labelView post →Three O'Clock High Chernobyl All three seasons of Mr. Show Get A Life (think it was just one season) Confess Fletch After Life (the '98 Kore-eda movie) Minding the Gap In Order of Disappearance The Investigation (the Scandinavian series about the journalist killed in the homemade sub)
neutral · AI labelView post →THE DAYTRIPPERS is a perfect movie. Greg Mottola hit hard with that, CONFESS FLETCH and a few episodes of UNDECLARED, the most accurate show about how fun but still pretty shitty college is
neutral · AI labelView post →I was *just* thinking about the wonderful movie CONFESS FLETCH where the character played by Marcia Gay Harden asks Jon Hamm (in the title role) "Can I make you a negroni?" He says yes, and she replies "Go buy Campari, vermouth, gin, and an orange" 😁
neutral · AI labelView post →#TonightsMovie is Greg Mottola's Confess, Fletch, from the novel by Gregory Mcdonald, and starring Jon Hamm, Roy Wood Jr., Annie Mumolo, Ayden Mayeri, Lorenza Izzo, Kyle MacLachlan, and Marcia Gay Harden
neutral · AI labelView post →In terms to the kind of film Conclave is I think a good comparison might be to Confess Fletch, but for theatrically-released drama instead of comedy.
neutral · AI labelView post →In production as we speak! deadline.com/feature/poke... And yeah, Confess Fletch, what a wasted opportunity for a film franchise
neutral · AI labelView post →Are you a fellow fan of #GregoryMcdonald 's #Fletch books? The #ChevyChase movies are classic, but the '22 #JonHamm movie #ConfessFletch more authentically portrays the book characters. #RoyWoodJr 's role is based on the memorable Mcdonald character Flynn: chatterrific.blogspot.com/2023/04/conf...
neutral · AI labelView post →Confess, Fletch is an absolutely perfect film. We just read that Miramax cancelled the sequel. The movie cost $20 million, but that was...too much.
positive · AI labelView post →Nichols, if you haven’t seen Jon Hamm in the movie Confess Fletch, there’s a lot of great barefoot jokes in that movie inspired by you.
neutral · AI labelView post →#nw Confess, Fletch. Man this movie rules.
positive · AI labelView post →This morning: Confess, Fletch (Not bad, Hamm was okay in it) Scream VI (It's a Scream movie, issues paying Neve not withstanding) Currently watching: Fast 5 (The best one)
neutral · AI labelView post →If you're looking for a thriller type film that's also funny, highly recommend Confess, Fletch (Netflix), which showcases Jon Hamm's comedic talents. Would love to see more films of this genre.
positive · AI labelView post →Need a movie to watch today? I recommend: Confess, Fletch My most rewatched movie of 2022. 98 minutes, you will giggle. Available on Paramount+, VOD, and on blu-ray. The director once offered to reimburse me for the blu-ray if it gets a 4k release. I do not believe that offer was open to all.
positive · AI labelView post →Confess, Fletch Movie Review: “No thanks, I ate yesterday.” cinemasentries.com/confess-flet... @greghammond.bsky.social
neutral · AI labelView post →I read Confess, Fletch after the film came out (five stars!) and enjoyed the hell out of it.
positive · AI labelView post →John Hamm has a better handle on the character in Confess, Fletch. The first movie actually manages the story really well. If it had been made like right after Foul Play I think Chase would have been much more subdued and less “Chevy,” than he was by 1985.
positive · AI labelView post →I have 3 movie desires for the Gregory Mcdonald novels. 1. One that captures Fletch's true unpleasant psychopath nature in the first novel. 2. A period Flynn movie so we get his growing up in Germany conversation from Confess, Fletch. 3. Maybe as a miniseries -- Who Took Toby Rinaldi?
neutral · AI labelView post →You know I enjoy the comic-book movies but news that Greg Mottola might be directing this instead of a sequel to CONFESS, FLETCH is very sad 🫤
positive · AI labelView post →Confess, Fletch, the surprisingly charming Jon Hamm comedy heist movie no one saw had people wearing masks and it shocked me so much because I’d just never seen a movie that even acknowledged COVID happened.
positive · AI labelView post →Confess Fletch was a surprisingly delightful movie that if not for free tickets to see it with friends I would have totally missed it. Highly recommend
