unlabelledView post →Zeteo ran an interview with Graham Platner today (paywalled, unfortunately) and I can't get past the fact that someone who literally recommends people watch "Come and See" as the ultimate anti-war movie is trying to pretend he never knew what a Totenkopf was.
unlabelledView post →this was hell. absolute hell. i'm walking out of this movie looking like the kid from COME AND SEE (1985)
unlabelledView post →He's a self-proclaimed World War II buff whose favorite movie is Come and See. Come on.
unlabelledView post →So apparently one of Platner’s favorite films is the 1985 WW II drama “Come and See.” Here’s what Google’s AI has to say about the use of the Totenkopf in that particular film:
unlabelledView post →"Come and See" reigns eternal as the best movie you will never recommend anyone ever watch
unlabelledView post →Platner said his favorite anti-war movie is Come and See.
unlabelledView post →I think the point is that if Come And See is an important movie to you, your claim that you don't know what a totenkopf is takes a hit
unlabelledView post →"I didn't like Come and See because it was too sad" IT IS A WW2 MOVIE WHAT ELSE ARE YOU SUPPOSE TO FEEL? Come and See is so mentally draining that even when a massive group of Nazis get killed you don't feel good. That's the level of disturbing and sad this film is.

unlabelledView post →I just heard Platner's favorite movie is COME AND SEE. Here's an image from Graham Platner's favorite movie. How long does it take you to spot it? How long would it take you to spot it, if you had it tattooed on your body and saw it every time you stepped out of the shower?
unlabelledView post →Dudebro marine walks into a fashy ink shop in Split and accidentally gets a totenkopf? 100% believable WW2 enthusiast whose favorite movie is Come and See doesn't realize he has a Nazi insignia tattooed on his chest for 19 years? Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining
unlabelledView post →The best kind of anti-war film is an anti-war film that is also the most anti-fascist film ever made, and that is Come and See (1985).
unlabelledView post →Finally, @emilyhughes.bsky.social is putting her work online under her own masthead. Coming out of the gate with a phenomenal piece on COME AND SEE, the greatest anti-war movie ever made, lets you know what you're in for. Nobody writes like Emily. www.patreon.com/posts/beauty...
unlabelledView post →He’s said both that his favorite movie is COME AND SEE, which has the SS as antagonists, and also that he didn’t know the symbol had any Nazi associations until like last year. One of those things is clearly a lie
unlabelledView post →If you’re going to do We Live In A Society shit in your movie I better leave the theater looking like the Come And See kid.

unlabelledView post →Last night’s viewing, Elem Klimov’s COME AND SEE (1985). First rewatch in about twenty years & it has lost none of its power. Viewing this film is like having a layer skin taken off. But an absolutely vital reminder of the need to oppose war and fascism.
unlabelledView post →It features very prominently in the 1985 WWII film COME AND SEE, which Platner has claimed is his favorite film.
unlabelledView post →What’s the great Christmas film that usually gets left off lists? Can have a Christmas vibe* rather be strictly Xmas-based but I have a pittying scornful shake of the head for anyone saying, ‘Come And See is a Christmas film’ or whatever.
unlabelledView post →I wouldn't count Casablanca or Bridge, tbh, both films set during war but not war films, if you get me? Off the top of my head, Come and See, Dunkirk, Saving Private Ryan, Das Boot, Zulu. Maaaaybe Battle of Algiers (great film, not sure if it counts)
unlabelledView post →we implemented a movie jar (exactly what it sounds like) to randomize the process of picking what to watch. it’s genuinely great and has led to some delightful discoveries! it is, however, also how we ended up watching Come and See tonight. so.
unlabelledView post →Come and See is a Christmas movie
unlabelledView post →I highly recommend this film. It's probably a good companion piece to"Come And See" but this tale concentrates its sights on the blithe banality of Nazi evil.
unlabelledView post →He’s also said that his favorite movie is COME AND SEE (1985), which both means he isn’t a casual RE WWII stuff and also means he would have presumably seen his tattoo on the evil Nazis hat
unlabelledView post →a pokémon movie about ash's adventures but shot in the style of "Come and See"
unlabelledView post →from the film, Come And See.
unlabelledView post →One of my favorite movies is Come and See, which is basically the most devastating, soul-crushing film ever made. But I also like movies like Avengers: Endgame, which had me cheering like a little kid in the theater.
unlabelledView post →The most anti-war war movie I have ever seen is a Russian film called Come and See. It starts with a young man ready to go off to fight the Nazis with the Belarusian resistance and shows him a new fresh horror every twenty minutes or so. I'd highly recommend seeing it once.
unlabelledView post →Picking a random film from my collection to show off for no real reason! Year 2, Day #151 "Come and See" (Elem Klimov/1985) I'm almost too afraid to watch this particular film. I've heard it is bleak as all hell. Well, I bought it so I will muster up the courage soon enough to watch it!
unlabelledView post →There’s a million good resources but I’ll mention Rodney’s How Europe Underdeveloped Africa, Galeano’s Open Veins of Latin America, Dee Brown’s Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, the movie Come and See (1985), Fanon’s Wretched of the Earth, and Mike Davis’ Late Victorian Holocausts.
unlabelledView post →In the article, Platner’s mention of “Come and See” (a movie that features the Nazi symbol he claims not to have known) is just him playing in our faces at this point.
unlabelledView post →I’ve known what the Totenkopf is since I was a kid. *You* can maybe feign ignorance if you’ve never consumed any media about WW2 but not if a self-proclaimed military history buff whose favourite movie is goddamn Come and See.
unlabelledView post →also, like, cmon? croatia? there wasn't any tours they went on while there getting Nazi tattoos? he said his favorite movie was Come and See lmfao, like cmon
unlabelledView post →After 18 years? No way he didn't recognize it in all the WWII media he claimed to consume including Come and See a movie he explicitly recommended. He just didn't cover it up until it was a threat to his campaign.
unlabelledView post →War is often portrayed as bad, but it's hardly ever portrayed as pointless. That's why many critics theorise there's no such thing as an anti-war movie. Come And See is an anti-war movie.
unlabelledView post →Elem Klimov’s Come and See (1985) is a very tough watch these days but it’s an incredibly rewarding movie. Some of the most intense sequences I’ve ever seen. Highly recommended. It’s on Criterion Channel.
unlabelledView post →this weekend, make it a family movie night with COME AND SEE
unlabelledView post →ah yeah the military buff who said his favorite movie was "Come and See" was definitely unaware of one of the most famous Nazi military symbols, despite referring to it as 'my totenkopf' on several occasions
unlabelledView post →He says his favorite film is the WWII movie COME AND SEE, where Totenkopf imagery is consistently present throughout, including in one of the most iconic scenes.
unlabelledView post →What exactly did Platner think was on the hats of a bunch of the Nazis in ‘Come and See’, including the one holding the protagonist at gunpoint in one of the most well-known shots from the film, which was used as the cover for a bunch of the VHS & DVD releases
unlabelledView post →Finally got around to watching COME AND SEE. A movie I sort of think everyone should see, even though absolutely no one will have a good time watching it.
unlabelledView post →Irreversible, Se7en, Requiem For a Dream, Dancer in the Dark, Schindler’s List, The Pianist, No Other Land, Grave of the Fireflies, When the Wind Blows, A Clockwork Orange, The Mist, Oldboy, Come and See, Trainspotting, American History X, A Serbian Film…
unlabelledView post →Happy #letterboxdfriday everyone! My #lastfourwatched are pretty decent this week! 'Come and See' was spectacular but I never want to watch it again, the deafening sounds of war are still haunting me. #filmsky #whatfaewatched #letterboxd #movies

unlabelledView post →rofl, in the same interview he claims it was just a skull and crossbones, omg stop calling it a nazi tattoo guys, he recommends a film; Come and See (Иди и смотри) i feel like i am taking crazy pills
unlabelledView post →Roger Ebert said that the only war movie that actually managed to be anti-war was COME AND SEE, but I've looked the modern Russian army, and I think we need to revise his count down by one.
unlabelledView post →I love when movie websites try to trick innocent people into watching things they reeaaaalllly maybe shouldn't. I once saw a streaming service list Come and See under "Movies With All the Feels."
unlabelledView post →Come and See is a classic of world cinema, and Graham Plantner saying it was his favorite film was a jump-scare moment.
unlabelledView post →ugh i'm not ""larping"", it's ~performance art~ *resumes playing '5 Things You Missed in 'Come and See'' so i can log & review the movie on letterboxd*
unlabelledView post →Can't believe this escaped me until now, but there's a scene from Come and See that's so iconic, it's on some of the movie posters. Notice anything familiar?
unlabelledView post →come and see is a good example of a (I consider it a) horror film that stands in contrast to the old chestnut "The greatest fear is fear of the unknown" which I think is an overrated slogan that needs review. Come and See is horrific because we know EXACTLY what's going to happen
unlabelledView post →It’s an obvious lie. He talks about the movie COME AND SEE a lot. I think he noticed his chest tattoo on every Nazi officer in that movie. (Or Schindlers List. Or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade. Or Inglourious Basterds. Etc to infinity.)
unlabelledView post →I mean the immediate answer is Come and See. Like it is a masterpiece but it is a total nightmare. Calling it a "war is hell" movie is an understatement, it is total apocalypse.
unlabelledView post →The movie "Come and See" tries to portray Nazi atrocities as accurately as possible and I understand it's nearly impossible to watch
unlabelledView post →Elem Klimov (with scenes from his film "Come and See") - BOTD
unlabelledView post →Platner claimed his favorite movie is Come And See, he absolutely cannot claim he didn’t know what that symbol was.
unlabelledView post →I love a "Come and See" reference. It's a film that should be seen by all. Truffaut said that it was not possible to make an anti-war film. If ever an anti-war film was made, "Come and See" is it.
