60 of 68 · most liked firstBefore you buy I do recommend trying out the demo on Battlefront.com as the game is pretty expensive (and tbh overpriced) and it isn't for everyone. It does offer possibly the most realistic experience of any RTS game and is without the doubt the toughest out there like other CM games. I actually haven't had any issues with performance or stuttering on this one (yet possibly, will update if I get any) compared to other CM games. Of the CM games this one has the most content and nations…

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →In no way is this game worth paying full price. I bought Combat Mission back in 2010 for 20 bucks on CD from their website when it was under old management there ain't no way it's worth 60 plus 30 for the DLC's. If the DLC's were included with the games then yeah I'd say go for it they're all good games but not worth 60 bucks.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its a good game but $60 for a engine this old is insane. Content is also split between a ton of $60 titles that all also have DLC. Crazy proposition of value coming from the developer (and thats crazy bad not crazy good). Really dragged down from its price tag.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →$60 for the same game over and over is just ridiculous

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Basically unplayable. not able to go higher than 1280x1024 (seems to be possible, but I can't manage) UI won't scale input lag makes gameplay sluggish and unresponsive framerate from hell price tag is a cruel joke Seems like a lot of people can manage to get the game playable or are just more capable of suffering than me. Please drop me a message if you have solutions.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the game play but definitely lacking the polish and quality of life features expected at this price point.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Would've *maybe* been worth the money on it's *actual* release in 2012 (don't let the "release date" here fool you). Sure, it's a pretty comprehensive representation of the Italian theater and with it's DLC includes many fighting units often overlooked in gaming. With ideal performance or sane pricing the mechanics would be awesome. And if it was priced like the 12 year old game that it is, *or* if it didn't run like the first release of PowerPoint in 1987, it might just be worth getting. It…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →NO, Combat mission is not worth $80. There is no universe in which this ancient piece of software that is held together with scotch tape and prayers is worth a AAA premium price. MAYBE $15 to $30 at most. The price isn't even the worst of it though..... If you plan on playing Multiplayer, I can't in good faith recommend Combat Mission (any game in the series) given how TCP/IP Multiplayer is STILL undermined by game breaking bugs (chiefly weapons teams losing their deployables) that have been…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you can see past the interface and graphics, Combat Mission games are the deepest more realistic strategy games there are. Combat Mission games are deeply rewarding to play with some incredibly memorable and cinematic encounters. Easy to learn the basics, hard as hell to master. I've owned the complete series for years and still feel like there's so much more to learn. Fortress Italy is the CM game with probably the most diverse collection of sub-factions, units, and terrain. It's well…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best of the WW2 Combat Mission games and has some excellent game play. The Graphics and Price are things to take into consideration when buying this package. The DLC nations are a lot of fun to play with! positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you are a wargamer, and willing to look past the rather dated graphics, the tactical elements of this game truly cannot be beaten. It is the definitive platoon-to-battalion level WW-II gaming experience. I have put thousands of hours in nearly all Combat Mission products from the first iteration (no longer on Steam). To say it is my favorite computer game-- given the time investment-- would not be an understatement. Having said this, it does not run as well on AMD graphics cards as…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I recommend all Combat Mission games, since they fill perfectly their niche in the military simulation universe. I now own all titles and most DLCs from the year 2000 onwards, with the sole exception of Cold War. Sadly full fluidity of gameplay and UI has decreased over time due to some technical outdatedness, more so with bigger, battalion sized battles. Still the game is playable for me. If you think your dedicated GPU is not being used by Win11 for Combat Mission, try: Windows…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a good game, its one of the most realistic games out there. but the input lag is so genuinely atrocious that i cant recommend getting this game, if you wanna play a combat mission game, get something else, this ain't it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dark Souls of RTS games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Did not work!!! Also I tried to submit a help ticket online to Battlefront and that didn't work either. I really want to play the game too.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Have you ever been so annoyed by Italians and their laid back work ethic and late, massive dinners that you felt like invading their country? Then this game is for you. Full disclosure: I got this game for free bc I sell the devs edibles on the dark web (♥♥♥♥'s still illegal in their state idk)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →As realistic as it gets on a computer.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Do not pay full price by any means
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →You get to vaporize Italians.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Probably a fun game but the lag was so bad it was just unplayable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is untouchable for the poor. Great game for keeping the filth out!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Slitherine went full woke with their new games, making "gender-neutral" manuals. Imagine getting woke in a serious sim. As for the entire Combat Mission franchise, well it should be in a full package for 10 bucks. It is outdated, does not cost NEARLY as much as it does right now, even on an 80% discount. There are better WEGO games out there, like Alfa: Antiterror. And they are over 20 years old.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Killing Nazis sim.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its combat mission, its good.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →My wagame has always been Advanced Squad Leader. This game does a good job of combing the things that i like about that.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This review is looking at the game purely in terms of diversity. The conclusion? In terms of faction and unit diversity the game certainly, without question, is the best CM WW2 title. This is due to: 1) Longest timeframe. 2) Most faction diversity (incl. Brazilian, Indian, South African, Free French, Italian Partisan units, Germans, Americans, Italians, etc.) 3) Due to the two previous, it naturally has the most varied and wide diversity of units. I have yet to play most any of the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its expensive buts it's a great game if you like realistic game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best CM game imo
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is game is not for everybody, but who ever wants the best realistic ww2 experience, it's Combat Mission 2. I'ts definitely worth a buy if you like strategy. Multiplayer turn based is amazing. The learning curve is huge but rewarding.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Fun, but a bit expensive
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Unplayable for casual gamers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Half of the Italian equipment and vehicles look straight out of Looney Tunes, its beautiful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've reviewed CMBN already, and most CM games perform very similarly, so I'll keep it short. The CM games are rough around the edges in some ways. but the experience they give you is worth the relatively minor issues you'll have to deal with. Really an unmatched experience. I prefer the WW2 games much more than the others, but they're all great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I just discovered this series and its mindblowingly good ,please update the engine devs and you have gold in hands .The price maybe steep as stated by others but i think its well worth the money .I never wright reviews but Combat Mission series deserves more attention .If you love tactical simulations give this a go !
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game, pretty old engine now but still probably one of the greatest strategy games out there! With MODS this game is awesome!!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For World War 2 I own Battle for Normandy full Bundle, Final Blitzkrieg, Red Thunder Bundle. Now I have Fortress Italy with the Battle Packs purchased through STEAM. What I like. The time period is long, more nations. US, British, New Zealand, South Africa, French and Poland all represented. Had a quick look and it is a challenge for an experienced player. Graphics look fine but it is not the strong point of the game. What is under the hood the 'Soft Factors' don't disappoint. I own now the…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I do like the settings, the landscapes and all the different troops and nationalitites in this game. It's still the same old "Combat Mission" when it comes to how the game works and playes, but the Italy athmosphere is really a nice feature. The DLC's for Fortress Italy is also something to look into. They bring ALOT of missions. Almost to the point that just having the core Fortress Italy-game gives you some serious FOMO, looking at all those grayed-out scenarios. I'd say - if your looking to…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →highly recommended, but only for hardcore war sim enjoyers
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Tactics und panzer
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Highly technical, brilliantly detailed, seriously challenging, and addicting in a very rare way. Combat Mission has me hooked, and Fortress Italy is a really strong entry. I feel like the base game is lacking in the campaign department (did they seriously count the advanced tutorial campaign as one of the main campaigns on the Store Page??), but otherwise it's really great. Not for the faint of heart.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA PIZZA, also if you play the italians YOU WILL GET TOUCHED, without a doubt.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game beat the ♥♥♥♥ out of me and stole my lunch money 10/10
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very enjoyable game and historically accurate with units, equipment and the morale
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →so 60 eu are alot of money for what the game offers what it needs to be improved is call reinforcments better distant sounds it has none better graphics rifle was floating on air better controls in order to command troops was difficult to learn and to do it being able to quit battle from escape button not alt q which also does not work i had to close the game from the task manager in conclusion it looks promising but definetly needs improvment
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game in a very underused front of WWII.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Thumbs up. However, I do experience what seem to be random crashes every now and then. I have learned to save my games often.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Combat Mission simulations are really great and very realistic, in which a lot of work was spent. Bought it already once the ordered Battlefront-CD distribution and enjoyed it a a lot. Can play for another couple of years. No doubt worth the money! Finally, it is very fortunate that Combat Mission made it now to Steam. No more patching and updating anymore. Thank you Battlefront for the great effort.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →<3 Combat Mission!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great platoon to battalion scale tactical wargame. Yes, it's expensive but definetely worth it. Don't know if you'll like and don't want to risk the price? Check the demo on Battlefront website (CM:FI has the biggest one of all CM games).
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Le test complet sur Dystopeek : https://dystopeek.fr/jouer/wargames/combat-mission-fortress-italy/
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →High cost, but nothing else like it on the market. Had this way before it got on steam.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have not gotten deep into the campaigns or battles yet. I have all of the CM games/DLC on Steam and wanted to see how this one would run. Typically, I stick to the modern war CM titles, but the WWII ones are fun too, like this one. It runs GREAT. Since I already know I like CM titles, performance was all I cared about. Lots of detail on each map. The new CM engine is really, really good. No more excessive stuttering or lag, even during battles. In my personal opinion, this is not a game to…

unlabelledView post →Frankly speaking, most players in this game lack skill. If you think otherwise, add me on Steam and let’s settle it in a Quick battle.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played the Matrix edition of this game for many hours. and it's excellent. I put it on to Steam only because I wanted to play it on my Steam Deck. For some reason it's been classified as "playable" which it most certainly isn't because as soon as you change any views you get a CTD. I think there has been an error here as all the other games in the series have been marked "not supported" on the deck. The frustrating aspect of this is that until Steam OS 3.8 came along they were all…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I am a huge fan of the series but this one is likely my least favorite of the WW2 titles. The terrain can be a bit tough to manage sometimes but the engine does a fairly good job representing the "3rd" front. Overall a very good game and is one of the few that spans more than a 12-18 month span. The italians are also a fun faction to play as for the axis, where the Germans are the only options in the rest of the ww2 titles. Active discord channels allow for very easy PvP match setup and if…
