The Zinn Education Project calls it “the most powerful and historically accurate movie” about the Civil War. Hard to watch, but we should.

unlabelledView post →My wife and I watched Civil War last night. After the reviews and word of mouth, I was expecting a bad movie. I was surprised at how much we both liked it. It was interesting and something we’re probably going to rewatch soon.
unlabelledView post →Did anyone see the movie Civil War? Not particularly a good movie. But a great ending.
unlabelledView post →Seen the movie CIVIL WAR? We're hurtling toward it. Trump has just made ICE his personal army—one of the best-funded on Earth. Even if the USAF tried to save America at some point, ICE would now engage it militarily in the streets and we'd have almost exactly what happened in that film. So scary.

unlabelledView post →So the most immediately prophetic thing about the CIVIL WAR movie and the current state of America is this guy - this guy seems to be reigning supreme out there now.
unlabelledView post →Weeksville was one of the largest free Black communities in pre-Civil War America. Today, it remains a cornerstone of this city, but its history has too often been overlooked. This short film is the story of Weeksville's rich, living history — and its vibrant future.
unlabelledView post →Every Sunday I clean my apartment and organize little bits, and I always leave on marvel movies to watch in the background. And everytime I rewatch Civil War I’m more convinced it’s the best marvel movie out of them all.
unlabelledView post →If you really believe that we're going to be descending into some Civil War (the 2024 movie)-style chaos, the biggest bang-for-your-buck investment at this moment might be a road atlas.
unlabelledView post →People I trust have been saying "Civil War" is a very good film, nevertheless I will be waiting until after the election to see it, if (depending on the election outcome) I see it at all.
unlabelledView post →The reason I liked the movie Civil War, and thought some missed the point, was that it depicted the miserably chaotic societal breakdown of a civil conflict, in contrast to fantasists’ imagination of what a civil war would look like. Just about anyone who thinks they’d like a real one is wrong.
unlabelledView post →Just watched Civil War. Yet another example of an interesting concept for a film but no one knows how to write dialogue anymore so there's not enough material to really draw you in to the characters so it all feels quite showy and shallow.
unlabelledView post →I appreciated how the movie CIVIL WAR vaguely alluded to the need to stay as far away from Philadelphia as possible. In my head canon, the reason why is that Philly is still just Philly operating as usual.
unlabelledView post →Movie Frame Study i finished today, for Atlas, ref frame is from Captain America: Civil War (2016)
unlabelledView post →"What kind of Japanese are you?" Somebody made a Japanese version of the "What kind of American are you?" meme from the film Civil War. This is a parody of Sanseito, a political party that has labeled its opponents "Anti-Japanese Japanese."
unlabelledView post →The film Civil War drove me nuts because Kirsten Dunst held the camera wrong more often than not but also California invading DC because the president done pissed them off seems more and more likely every day lolsob
unlabelledView post →I just learned that a shit ton of American data centers have been built on Civil War battlefields in Virgina, and boy, oh boy, do I have a horror movie pitch.
unlabelledView post →Alex Garland's "Civil War" movie is looking less ridiculous by the week
unlabelledView post →It’s odd here on UK BlueSky. We get a few precious hours doing a bit of fun whimsy in the morning despite knowing how shit everything is. And then the US logs on and ruins everything with their obviously approaching guerrilla civil war, weirdly based on the movie Civil War directed by Alex Garland
unlabelledView post →Last year I saw the movie “Civil War” At the time I thought it was far fetched. Not so much anymore
unlabelledView post →IMO the best MCU movie is Civil War. Maybe not the best MOVIE OVERALL, but it's the movie that really captures the dream of the MCU. There's barely a villain, it's about the characters undergoing a massive crackup. And then it's instantly undone in Infinity War, showing the limits of the project.
unlabelledView post →This is also the breakdown of states in that Civil War movie so I think this is the backstory to that film
unlabelledView post →RIGHTEOUS GEMSTONES just causally dropping an incredible Civil War-set short film as their season premiere 🤯
unlabelledView post →honestly, pretty incredible bit for a filmmaker to make a movie titled CIVIL WAR in 2024 and then claim it isn’t political
unlabelledView post →Every single Alex Garland film* is simultaneously egg cinema and TERF cinema, and that is why he is one of our finest minds. *-possible exception of Civil War
unlabelledView post →The film Civil War and the marketing campaign for Civil War are fascinating cultural objects in diametrically opposed ways.

unlabelledView post →Alex Garland's "Civil War" is not only a spectacular journalism movie; it's one of the best, most profound films of this decade.
unlabelledView post →You can't throw a stone without hitting some non-Southerner merrily chirping "The Civil War was about state's rights" but, sure, go on. Lord preserve us from the white film types who "don't see color" and their dangerous, gullible naivete
unlabelledView post →Will I understand the new Civil War movie if I haven’t seen the first one?
unlabelledView post →Just watched the movie Civil War. It’s pretty brutal. Neither being anti-right or anti-left. Just anti-civil war. Often when I see Civil War, it always comes s across as this idea that it would be conservatives running around shooting liberals, with no understanding that liberals own guns too.
unlabelledView post →Finishing up CIVIL WAR (2024) What a *fascinatingly* unforgivable movie
unlabelledView post →Whether this Dodgers pitcher meant to hit the batter or not, the fact remains that he could play an Army officer in a Civil War movie.
unlabelledView post →I am going to be so fucking pissed if that dumbass Civil War movie turned out to be predictive. It's like getting outwitted by a golden retriever.
unlabelledView post →I'm so nervous I mistyped the year of the abysmal movie "Civil War" while inexplicably referencing it to make some kind of point; Alex Garland's "Civil War" came out in 2024, the year my wife and I sat through it and then said "well, that was a movie"
unlabelledView post →*watching “Civil War”* “Oh so it’s a movie about racism that refuses to name fucking racism.”
unlabelledView post →One thing I really hate about all this is that it validates the Alex Garland movie CIVIL WAR
unlabelledView post →Finally watched Civil War and very annoyed at how much A24's dogshit marketing campaign turned me off from what's actually a great movie
unlabelledView post →Decoupling a fiery train car in THE CONFEDERATE IRONCLAD (1912). This film and the many like it proved to be the eventual blueprint for how Hollywood would handle the Civil War on a smaller scale: treating the conflict as chummy and downright cute.
unlabelledView post →I really hated the movie at the time, but the more distance I get from Civil War, the less stupid the ending seems.
unlabelledView post →Last night I watched a movie double bill of Conclave and Civil War, and now I can’t read the news without confusing fiction and reality
unlabelledView post →A prequel to Spielberg’s movie Lincoln, called Thaddeus Stevens, covering from the start of the Civil War to the Emancipation Proclamation. Time for a new hero.
unlabelledView post →Well, I watched it for free but that Civil War movie is shit. Just utterly pointless, divorced from politics or motivation
unlabelledView post →Finally watched the Civil War movie. It was okay, but found the bizarre and stupid decision by professional conflict journalists to let some inexperienced dipshit (shooting black and white film????) go to war with them too distracting. Kick her out!
unlabelledView post →Someone at Amazon has a twisted sense of humour. They've added 'Civil War' to Amazon Prime Video just in time for Trump's inauguration. Let's hope it remains fiction.
unlabelledView post →I see it's film award nomination season. Preparing to be pissed for the next few months if Kirsten Dunst does not get Best Actress nominations from everyone for her performance in CIVIL WAR.
unlabelledView post →Civil War may have been the most relevant film of our time, not because of the war stuff, but because it nails the narcissism inherent in modern journalism
unlabelledView post →people were incredulous that in the movie CIVIL WAR Texas and California were allies against the feds - this is how that happens

unlabelledView post →There is simply no indication in the text of the film that CIVIL WAR takes our real life present as a departure point. The film, I think, is quite clear that we are looking at a “near-future America” that isn’t actually our own. An Earth-2. Beyond that, the film isn’t about the conflict itself.
unlabelledView post →Uncritically sourcing fascists is actually the extremely predictable outcome of trying to make a movie about Civil War in the contemporary US “apolitical” lol
unlabelledView post →watched Civil War recently. great film, might be my favourite from Garland tbh
unlabelledView post →So many things. Watch V for Vendetta and Fight Club, they're insanely relevant. Captain America Civil War is basically the actual plan people like Thiel seek to implement. Project Insight from that film is literally their goal.
unlabelledView post →yes, CIVIL WAR is not a movie about a conflict in *our* near future, it is a movie that takes place during a conflict in a place that resembles America in the near future.
unlabelledView post →Johnson, and yes... the South lost the Civil War militarily, but the Lost Cause won culturally. Overwhelmingly. The #1 film of all time is about the Lost Cause: Gone with the Wind.
unlabelledView post →I’ll also take the ending of the movie “Civil War”
unlabelledView post →Man, the discourse around Alex Garland's Civil War is exhausting. I don't have any opinion about the film itself, bc I haven't seen it, but I'm already very tired of reading the frothy discussions of it.
