neutral · AI labelView post →Crappy shark movie #168 was Chum! (2024), coming in at a regrettable #159/168 (between Alien Shark & Psycho Shark). Adorable shark puppets and a few fun jokes couldn’t begin to save this from no plot and *terrible* writing. We really like no-budget shark movies, but not this one. Best hobby.

neutral · AI labelView post →Shout out to the movie Chum for being so absurd I said "what the fuck is this?" out loud less than 3 minutes into the film. For reference, the movie establishes that great white sharks are extinct in 2028 so they try to reintroduce the species by crossing human DNA with cordyceps...and it works?

unlabelledView post →Chum is a movie that suffers from the same problem most movies seem to have these days: a interesting premise with a lot of potential but ends up falling flat due to poor writing and mediocre acting. Having said this, this is one of the better 2020s movies I've seen, and that's not saying much.
