i love this game. i really, really love this game. i think it's a must-play for most atlus fans, and the puzzle gameplay is tetris levels of addictive. you'll be seeing these blocks in your sleep. however, it simply does not run on windows 11 systems. even with changing compatability, it just decides not to launch. when it does launch, it crashes, and it can't handle streaming. easily the absolute worst of atlus's pc releases. atlus, for the love of god, just release fullbody on pc and make it…

I'm unlikely to ever experience a game like Catherine again. The premise is so bizarre and unique, calling into question how someone can write a story like this, let alone do so successfully. Just for the novelty, I give Catherine a strong recommendation. The story is centered on Vincent Brooks, a middle-aged man in the midst of a long-term relationship with his girlfriend Katherine. Their relationship is rapidly approaching marriage, a reality that brings Vincent great confusion and anxiety.…

I was a tween during Catherine's initial release; the mature themes went over my head, but I was pretty good at puzzle games. As I've grown older, I found myself replaying this game during major turning points in my life (tumultuous relationships, graduations, deaths of loved ones). A lot can happen in 15 years, so I think it's neat that my in-game decisions align with my evolving virtues. In retrospect, Catherine prepared me for a few hardships I've encountered during my adulthood.…

Catherine Classic is a strange, stylish hybrid: half adult soap-opera, half panic-drenched puzzle platformer. You play Vincent, a 32-year-old who’s drifting through life when a relationship crossroads and a series of surreal nightmares begin to squeeze him from both sides. The game presents itself like a late-night anime drama, but it’s really about what people do when they’re scared—of commitment, of change, of being honest. The story is the main reason to try it, because it commits to…

Thought my evil chud laptop could run it because I met the specs but unfortunately I must move on and refund because it crashes immediately upon launch and requires very complex, hit or miss fixes. This is a great game though, I really loved playing it on Xbox! Better off playing on a high-end PC or just getting the console port, Atlus likely wont fix this game anytime soon :)

Pretty dope adult game that tackles topics such as commitment, cheating and relationships. It has a fun puzzle element to the game. Worth getting the game on sale but do take note that the game is hard on normal. Getting it to run on steamdeck requires bit of tinkering but once that's done it can be played from start to finish.

I've had this game since forever, I keep trying to play it, and as soon as I try and start the game it crashes. It has done this for years each time I try to play it. Each time I search it up, it's not an uncommon issue. My drivers are updated, my PC runs just fine, Catherine itself just crashes. I wouldn't recommend spending a penny on it, it doesn't work.

Earning every achievement on Steam has solidified the opinion I already had that Catherine is my bar-none favorite Atlus game (I adore Persona and ReFantazio too, please don't kill me) and a hugely nostalgic puzzle game that has climbed into my top ten of all time as I've grown older and better understood it. It's brutally hard and requires an insane amount of focus and quick thinking, making for uniquely immersive gameplay that really instills the same stress and terror that Vincent…

Unfortunately the game crashes on startup on modern PCs and I doubt a patch is coming. Other people are saying the issue is with Windows 11 but I'm running Windows 10 and it crashes without fail. The game literally does not function. If it does miraculously work for your computer, the game is great! I've finished it on other platforms and it's such an interesting wacky blend of a surprisingly in depth puzzle system with an engaging, if a little anime silly, story. The nighttime puzzles start…

Catherine Classic is one of those games that you’ll either admire or want to throw out the window. Sadly, this PC version is filled with bugs — a lot of them. For example, I hit a black screen right before the final cutscene after dozens of tries at the last boss. No fix, no save — just the bell ringing endlessly in darkness. The controls can also drive you mad. Sometimes you want to move a box, but instead, you hop on it and ruin your rhythm. The game’s “generative AI” that builds new blocks…

As someone who was also struggling with relationships in his early 30s and happened to be a software engineer back then, I see a bit of myself in Vincent Brooks. That’s why the story of Catherine resonates with me so much. And that’s rare for video game stories. However, if weren’t for the unique theme, I probably would’ve abandoned this game. Thing is, I love puzzle games. And Catherine has some of the most challenging and clever puzzles I’ve seen. But, I absolutely hate solving puzzles with…

I love Catherine to death but I really wish ATLUS gave Steam players the option to buy either Catherine Classic or Catherine Full Body because those of us on Steam are missing out on the new, exclusive content in that version of the game. This game's a lot smarter than I thought and the puzzling is decent. But the PC port is completely non-functional and crashes on nearly every loading zone and cutscene, often forcing you to replay levels. You're very lucky if this even works at all. Avoid this port at all costs.

The verdict is in - Catherine is a good game that could've been amazing had it put more focus where it mattered. First and foremost - it's incredibly stylish, with great direction and an amazing soundtrack, while the gameplay consistently keeps being fun, fresh and challenging. Gameplay (9/10): The gameplay is simple and efficient. You climb to the top of each puzzle tower. The difficulty ramps up gradually but never becomes overwhelming. If you invest time, even the hardest levels can be finished within a few hours. Watching a guide makes it easier if you’re stuck. Some sounds still echo in my head while writing this: “EDGE, EDGE”, “UNDO, UNDO”, and Vincent’s scream when he falls. Style / Graphics (8/10): The anime style works. It lets you clearly read the…

Catherine Classic is Atlus at their most focused and creative. Sure, it shares the basic Persona loop of chatting with friends and locals mixed with dungeon crawling, but everything here feels so much tighter and purposeful. Gone are the constant story recaps and repetitive navigation.
