negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Well, it doesn't look like this has been updated since 2021. Too bad, because every time I open this game it's a disappointment. The board game itself is great, but this version is wrought with bugs. Several tutorials don't work right, and I just got kicked out of a LOCAL game because it "lost connection" ?! I'll probably let this sit for another month and then give it another chance, at which point I'm sure I'll encounter some other problem.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I like the game concept and mechanics, but the technical execution is horrible. It's one thing that the game servers are a mess, but why do I need to be connected all the time? I couldn't even finish the traders & builders expansion tutorial because "connection is lost" and the whole game crashed, could only exit with alt + f4 key combo.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is broken and you can not play it at the time of this review. You launch the game and it says "Connecting to servers" and you have to ALT+F4 EDIT: It took them an ENTIRE WEEK to fix their game. My review stays negative because apparently this happens somewhat frequently. The devs response time and lack of communication and accountability is apalling.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love the board game and so, what can go wrong. Right? Where to start..., the A.I. is like a permanent super-computer. There is no "Easy-Medium-Hard", it's just pointless, especially if you are trying to introduce another person into how this game works. The recent multiplayer bugs are a real turn off. Mid game the system will just crash, servers that do not connect, and not just for an hour but whole days. It is just a bit too much for a supposedly relaxing and fun game to want to ask for a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game was fun for a couple of weeks, but then the online server got glitchy, and now it's impossible to play with my friends without things freezing up or crashing.

unlabelledView post →The board game itself is great and this digital version could be perfect (for local offline play) if the devs could put in the effort. It's absolutely ridiculous how there are no local profiles or controller support. It's really baffling how the UI of this game feels perfectly designed for touchscreen and controllers but only supports keyboard and mouse? Edit: also why is all of the dlc available on steam but the abbot isn't? Buying the physical game gives me the abbot and the river in the…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love this game, but been trying to play all week, and after saying its connecting to server, it just sits on the splash screen. Was open 20 minutes accidentally so i know somethings up. Reinstalled, and did all the normal jazz, nothing. Requested a refund despite having the game a long time, not expecting much, but many comments seem to echo my concern. Game doesnt work, end of story.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game, even though I'm terrible at it. I really enjoy playing a relaxing turn based board game. The reason I have to reject it, is because I lost connection while playing a tutorial. How is it even possible to lost connection on something that should not be connected to the internet in the first place?!? I absolutely hate games that are online only. I am so very disappointed and done playing it.

negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →AI that draws perfect tiles every turn? No thanks. Honestly, probably a decent edition if you want to play online or couch co-op with friends, but the amount of cheese in this game is ridiculous. When two AI players are routinely in double digits after turn 3, it is time to look at your programming.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love carcassonne so much that I have purchased this version of it multiple times for my friends. I am now completely unable to play it because I had to change my Asmodee password and now the game won't allow me to log in. It tries to log me in, then flashes an error on the screen about being unable to connect until the game crashes. Please fix this.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game is amazing. The servers freeze often. 200 players online will break the servers. WTF. Be better.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →While Carcassonne is a great game, and this game *would* be a fun version of it if it consistently worked properly, it just doesn't. Historically the servers go down regularly with no communication from the company Recently the servers were down for nearly two weeks with nothing said by the developer, publisher, or server hosts. Not even a "we're working on it". Meanwhile a game that literally doesn't function was sitting on sale. I'll change this review when the companies that made this…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →No steam integration is a bummer
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The best part of digital Carcassone is that you don't have to clean up any game pieces when you're finished!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The board game is better, but I don't have any friends left after last winter. A tragedy.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Refunded this and all DLC. The game played great the first time doing local swap play. Second time, I was able to play online, albeit with some difficulties. Once we were in we were good though. The second time I tried to play with a friend and we could never connect to each other. Now, the game won't even boot up. It just says "connecting to server". There is even a "cancel" button to stop it from connecting but that doesn't work. Then you have to alt+f4 and get a crash message to…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carcassonne is a fine game I love but this iteration cheats. I can usually typically win against a basic computer, but not with the extreme "luck" the AIs have in this game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Both the physical game, and this one are so much fun to play with friends!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very intuitive, I have the board game and it's basically as easy to play as that but without the faff of physical tiles and doing the maths yourself. Good for both pass-play and playing an AI, wish the music kept going through the whole game but that's such a non-issue. Am definitely going to have 100 hours on this thing before the year is out.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great gameplay, good at teaching you how to play the game, nice quick games
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →nothing wrong with it. easy to load, play, and save games. great for a quick 10 minutes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The game refuses to launch now. Cannot recommend at this stage.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A relaxing and fun game that can be expanded and varied with several different DLC,s . Fast and Easy to learn and very addictive . can be played against a choice of several AL opponents or other players online .
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Love the board game, but this digital version refuses to launch unless it phones home first. Servers have been down for days, so the game is basically a coaster right now. Guess I’ll go back to cardboard—it’s more reliable.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I only bought this game to have an enjoyable single player against the computer, and since its a computer game, I expected to be able to set amount of tiles to my own wish, to have games of different length and size. This one feature is not included. Should have checked, but its such a minor feature it was hard to imagine they would not include it, even down being able to make custom tile decks where one can change number of individual tiles.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Does what it's supposed to do. On sale for 2.99 you really can't complain. The expansions cost extra like in real life, but here they did it properly, as DLC. Not like Catan with that browser game port crap. There's no steam cloud though, but maybe you don't even need it for a game like this...? There are also QoL features to highlight tiles, which is very nice to have, and some different AIs for singleplayer. Everything you need. Haven't tried multiplayer. Sadly, there's only a single…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game freezes up often and randomly. At first, I thought it was just the Gingerbread Man Expansion. Now, it's freezing up with any expansion. This is highly disappointing. I would love to have my money back. Please don't buy this game or you'll be quite upset with yourself.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Multiplayer against bots is like playing at the table where all the other players are collaborating to help one of them win.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you're only interested in single player this seems fun, but the multiplayer was unplayable. My friends and I tried to create a game but our lobby would not initialize; according to in game chat others also had the same issue and that it was ongoing. Unfortunately there is no peer to peer hosting as an alternative to the game's unreliable servers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game, which once promised to be something special, has unfortunately lost its appeal. The last update was back in 2021, and since then, it seems the developers have completely forgotten about the project. There are no new features, no bug fixes, and, most disappointingly, the server has been down for over a week. Players are left waiting, but there are no signs of any effort to restore it. Honestly, it's disappointing. The game had potential, but the lack of support and the developers'…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Quick review after less than 2 hours game time. I want to try later if it's more fun with friends, so I don't have strong opinion yet! This is after few solo games against 1-3 AI opponents. -if you're already familiar with the game, and want to play it in faster pace, then this is probably good for you! I like my board games slower pace that's why this felt a bit jarring , especially against AI. - original tabletop is better and more fun (but needs friends/family close enough to visit). - eh,…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The calculations at the end of them game are bogus. In the board game you don't get points for unfinished roads, cities or monasteries!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great strategy game and plays well against AI players. The online server simply sucks bad, it is offline more than online. This prevents playing against other "live" players online. At the time of this writing the server has been down for two days. Why spend money on a game when the server is down the majority of time.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great board game, a horrible pc game. The game can only be played with simple rules due to bugs (especially dragon is bugged with AI). Most of the games will be 1v1 which to me are not appealing at all.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Solid game 10/10 no notes
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Playing against the AI on "Easy" is more like playing with experienced friends who want to win as much as you.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The problem with a service game comes to fruition with the servers being down for 2 weeks, other than that there is still bugs left. Not worth the price try instead tabletop simulator with mod or find other means of playing Carcassonne online.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →asmodee servers suck, there should also be an option to remove animations, games shouldn't just abruptly end after the time has expired on multi-player
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A fun game that is preaty easy to learn and not that easy to master.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Servers have been down for days. I can't submit a ticket to the Asmodee because the button to enter a ticket is down too. You can't even play offline when the servers are down. Do not waste your money. Buy the boardgame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Servers are down, can not play without logging in to servers.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carcassone the board game is five stars. This computer version? Gets about half a star, all of which is credit to the original board game. Online play is completely broken - cannot connect to server at all anymore. Local play vs computer player is possible if you turn off all your network connections. This is ok if you're learning, but the algorithm for the 'harder' levels of computer player is simply set to give the computer player the exact piece they need, every time. Give this version a…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →None of the online features are working. Would be fun otherwise
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Got this game. Tried to play with friend. Game just does not work, tried for like 30 minutes to get a game going with a friend. He tried to host but I couldn't find his lobby. I hosted and he got in my game but the game literally would not start and we would just be stuck in the lobby. Game is trash. Don't waste your money. You'd think a game released in 2017 would have fixed these sorts of issues by now.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game seems like it has high potential, but the tutorial explains nothing, meaning you end up going in completely blind, and it's not realistic to enjoy a game when you don't know how it works
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I could play this obsessively forever.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Now requires an account to play online.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Bro very fun game. but one player is a nightmare/crybaby. "bed bug and beyond". LAME bro. youre lame. and you know it. great game. sad little person.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its fun, but it crashes about 75% of the time when you are playing online. Absolutely sucks all the joy out of the game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →love it, it's my easy quick game addiction
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carcassonne is the best boardgame and this digital version does it justice. Only needs more expansions
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was playing in an online game with my husband. Got close to the end (17 tiles left I think) and when I got a double turn thanks to the builder, it wouldn't let me place the tile. As much as I love this game, and enjoy the ease of not having to fully set it up or put it away; I won't be playing this again until there is a confirmed bug fix for this issue.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →If you like Carcassonne or boardgames in general then I strongly recommend you pick up this game. It is a lot of fun and very cheap to get. You don't need to own the DLC's to enjoy them as long as someone in your party has it. It is cross-platform so except a great variety of players. The game is however not flawless, there are some bugs like if you play with the dragon DLC and a player leaves the bot that replaces that player does not actually know how to move the dragon and then you might be…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →The online servers are down. Would not recommend the game until they fix it
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Can't create an account to play online as no connection to servers. Seems the servers go down regularly... Don't buy it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Carcassonne is one of those games I can leave alone for months and then suddenly fancy playing a few rounds. I've played the digital version for many hours across Xbox and PC, and I still enjoy its mixture of quick matches, tactical tile placement and the occasional frustration when the one tile I desperately need simply refuses to appear. I play locally in single-player against the computer only. I've never used the online multiplayer, haven't needed to create an Asmodee Digital account, and…
