Now you can play this classic game on modern PCs with the help of Unofficial update, which also fixes bugs, enables resolution changes and add bunch of Quality of Life updates. ⭐️UNOFFICIAL UPDATES There are two version of unofficial updates. First one is called JULIUS, who retains the same (vanilla) gameplay as original…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've played many city builders over the years but this one still holds up as one of the better ones. I mean for the price it's actually high above your modern city builders. I love the accessibility too. I remember playing it as little as 8yo and not understanding English I still loved every minute of it.

When I saw it on Steam after so many years, I grabbed it right away because this is one of those classics that deserves to be revisited. Caesar 3 stands out because of how well it blends city building, management and strategy. You are not just placing buildings. You are creating a functioning Roman city where every decision matters. Roads, walkers, service coverage,…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is one of the OG city builder games released by Sierra back in 1998. This is also literally the same exact game that was released back in 1998 and it isn't supported with bug fixes and updates (which is crazy some of the negative reviews will expect that). It says I only have 3.7 hours on record through Steam but I've easily played over 2,000 hours on this game over my lifetime. It is simple, it's basic, it is what you'd expect from a game that came out in 1998 but it's still one of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's a lot of good old-fashioned fun, Simcity Classic in Roman times. After over 25 years (we had CRTs!) the graphics are still good, and make it easy to distinguish various storage/supplies and buildings. But like others said, get the Augustus mod - it adds buildings and a Lot of QoL improvements like proper full-screen, zooming, roadblocks to keep the service suppliers from wandering off.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I first played Caesar 3 about twenty years ago back in the mythical times of physical cd roms but never quite got into it proper despite spending a fair few nights playing it instead of doing homework. Now I've come back to playing it and it all just clicks, maybe because I'm older, maybe because I've played like 50 city builders in the time since, idk honestly, but I really do enjoy this game, it is rather dated, but it's a real gem that's worth playing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Caesar III is one of the most fascinating city-builders ever made, and one of the deepest in terms of mechanical design. On the surface, it looks simple: build houses, provide services, maintain food supply, collect taxes, and keep your citizens happy. But under that surface lies a dense network of interconnected systems that all need to work in harmony for your city to thrive. The game uses a unique walker system, where service providers like market traders, engineers, or prefects physically…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →They don't make games like this gluing you to the chair for hours anymore. A real classic.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Simply my favourite all time game. The best of all the city building sims from the 90s for me. Nothing grips me quite like this game, the balance is just fantastic. There is always something going on but you never feel rushed. Hours just fly by.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this game as a very young child back in the early 2000s - this game taught me the basic concepts of things like imports and exports, commerce, Roman architecture, Gods, and so much more. Even coming back to it now, all these years later, it is just as fun to me. Not sure if it's the nostalgia talking, but I think its still a delightful city management game, challenging enough to keep me engaged, and a 'free play map' mode in case you just wanna build a city and do whatever. Very fun.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Caesar 3 is one game that deserves to be in the City builder Hall of Fame, in my opinion. its small but full on content that will always hold a place in my heart. I've been playing this game since I was a kid. I would recommend every gamer have game in their Library.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game. This game should be played with the (free) Augustus Add on (currently Version 4) . Get it. Add it. Run it. Beautiful.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A good city builder game from the late 90s, Caesar 3 still holds up pretty well for its age. However, playing with the Augustus mod is highly recommended for some much needed QoL, especially since most of the tutorials you can find these days are with that mod. Global labor pool makes this game so much more manageable when it otherwise would be quite the handful from some of its more outdated features. Even with that mod, the game will still be challenging, so have at it. :)
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I want my life back
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Definitely amazing but the Augustus mod is insanely addicting... 10/10 original 100/10 Augustus version ( FREE OPEN SOURCE MOD - just need the base game installed before using it) Augustus makes this 98' game feel up-to-date in every aspect possible. Resolution, addons, coverage visibility.... the list goes on and on! Absolutely must have now that I have tried it. Feels like I wasted countless hours playing the original just trying out stuff lost as hell... Oh, the best part - this was made…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love this game and it never gets old. I recommend using Augustus mod for an even better experience.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →do you like to build cities? do you like to plan for hours how clay is gonna be converted to pottery and then be sold so you can have money and stay off Caesar, while defending the city from the hordes of idiots that want your ass. then this is game for you

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my first city building games i played when i grew up. I sill really enjoy it, same challenges as before, just pure nostalgia for me
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →make sure you mod the game with Augustus C3 mod, revives this gem!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I love it! I just got this game and it's one of my favourites. Also, I highly recommend using Augustus while playing Caesar III
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is a classic. A real pioneer of the genre. I think it still holds up even now. It creates an atmosphere that really brings your Roman city to life. So engaging and so much depth.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing this game since primary school around 2000s, and still today it feels like the first time playing the game. Such a small simple game with big dynamics, played at 100% speed is the only way. Out of all my games, I've spent the most amount of hours on Caesar 3.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best builder still, returning regularly for a playthrough. Still remember inserting the CD on the old family win 98 PC. Still holds up with the resolution and texture mods (google). Music top-notch and the strategy/architecting is top notch. I love how you can see buildings being "upgraded" when you provide everything correctly, how every supply chain is logical and immersive and you see your warehouses fill up, how the armies line up ready to battle the barbarians, oh and the cut scenes…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I played this when I was younger. The nostalgic feels are definitely influencing my love for this game. I love seeing the tents evolve into brick houses, I Love how frustrating it can be if you change one tiny thing and no dwellers want to come/live in your city for some reason. The feels are definitely real with this one. Highly recommend.

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been playing this game for as log as I can remember and I have zero regrets.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →a classic, the nostalgia is strong, and it still holds up in terms of gameplay. Actually a lot harder than I remember it being!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Best game of my childhood, still a good game 25+ years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Funny game.build for the players fun. After many years a happy insland of quiet and rest.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I've been replaying a lot of games from my childhood recently and thought i'd give Ceaser 3 another try. O those pesky rose tinted glasses... Inexplicable problems started almost immediatly, with the result being countless of forced interruptions of me having to peruse the internet for hidden occult knowledge to figure out what tripped me up this time. I finally downloaded the Julius mod to see if the game would start making sense but after an instance where my entire city's housing…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Two words: Augustus and Reconquered. You need to install the Julius, Augustus, and Reconquered campaigns. There are tutorials on YouTube. This game is epic, and the vanilla mode was a big part of my teenage years. I love Caesar III with all my heart, but the community has turned it into a masterpiece. It has improved so much. At first everything was a bit clumsy, but now there are many details and challenges that really make it worthwhile. I hope you have fun. I recommend Zakh Gamer's videos…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I had original CD and played this when this was new. Played that a lot. A lot. Now I installed again via STEAM (Julius patch for hi-res screens, not augustus, I want original gameplay with quirks and all, unabridged experience :-) ) It is just as awesome as it was more than quarter century ago. Honestly which game can say that? There are very few IMO, this is one of them. Modern city builders might be more advanced, more complex, fancy, but this one is still amazing. It works, it is…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i think this game not very good because i always lose
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great city builder! Definitely recommend looking up a couple of YouTube videos on how to play because there are a lot of hidden mechanics that are harder to figure out yourself. I'm not good with systems thinking and my experience dramatically improved after watching a couple of YouTube vids :) I have nostalgic memories about this game from my Dad playing it when I was a kid. I played it, too, back then. I'm glad I found it again! A great classic!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →this is the GOAT of city builders. the grand dad of all the others. i highly suggest getting modern MOD. to make it run better on modern computers. but on its own it is amazing.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of the first games I have ever played and along with Sim City, one of the best city building games of all time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →childhood favourite game
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice game that shows the simple complexities of the human collective.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →One of my favourite game as a kid <3 It's very nice, even if old and some gameplay mechanics very outdated. You can buy it and play it on Steam, but I highly advice you use Augustus mod to make the game more up to date (with some nice additions too)!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I adore this game. Part of my feelings towards Caesar 3 are definitely due to nostalgia, as I played this game for hundreds of hours as a child. It definitely doesn't hold up to modern city/empire sim games, but it's still just as fun as I remember and was impressive for it's time.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A great game from the late 90's that's still going very nicely to date!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Nice gameplay and building civilization mechnnics
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I have played this game so much and adore it's simplicity. This an CIV 5 and great.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →A game of my childhood ^_^
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →First time playing #Caesar3 today! As a city-builder enthusiast, I thought I've seen it all! But Caesar 3 feels different. It's more cohesive theme-wise, and religion isn't just an element, it's an interesting feature, what with appeasing the multiple roman gods! The art is also endearing and I appreciate the structures evolving. Granary windows signaling fullness -- so kewl! And I can play it without a graphics card 😝

positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very creative and teaches you defensive warfare and city building. How to listen. How to prioritise. Balancing multiple demands and needs.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →hardest strategy game ever
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Something wrong the bug won't work to play
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It's probably the nostalgia talking, but I adore this city builder. I know it will be considered clunky by today's standards, but I still think it's worth playing it again 20 years later.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Display issue. Resolution doesn't sync.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game appears to have great potential, especially considering how many great reviews it has. Coming from other city builders I have no idea how this game works and its not intuitive whatsoever. I don't really feel like wasting my time looking on the internet for hand holding to get me through a game that is this old. If you are willing to do this though I'm sure it could be a great game.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Great game brings back memories from my childhood 20+ years ago
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Very worth it for the price imo. One of the best city builder games of all time tbh, i 100% recommend
