It can severely reduce a cat's lifespan, specially since other free roaming and/or feral cats can be very territorial that's not including cars, other animals, illness/disease, accidents, and cruel humans. A huge plus for me is that there is no jealousy mechanic preventing or discouraging the player from dating multiple NPCs at once.
