Bought Biomutant expecting a game. Got a furry little fever dream instead. I have no idea what's happening, but the world is beautiful. The combat is questionable. The dialogue is questionable. I am questionable. 10/10. I have become the creature.

One of those games that had all the potential in the world.. an original setting, fun looking creatures and a colorful post-apocalyptic vibe that really stood out. That’s why it’s such a shame that the game never really received a solid update to bring its ideas together. In the end, the gameplay mostly boiled down to running around, killing random mobs and picking up random quests that never felt connected. Half the time I wasn’t even sure what was part of the main storyline and what was just…

Nuclear creatures / 2007 A wild furry game about post-nuclear world inhabited by horny anthro creatures on the ruins of Chernobobruisk. Basically it's Biomutant, if it was made as intended, for adults and klyukva, instead of weeaboo. Works only on Windows XP, sadly.

Oh. Oh wow. I just looked at the Mobygames credits for Biomutant in detail. For many of the developers it was their first ever game. For almost all of them it was their last. That's tragic.

I’m not sure what’s going on with game reviewers these days, because they absolutely panned this game—but I’m already hooked. The gun and melee combat feels great, the art direction is gorgeous, and, honestly, anthropomorphic animals are an instant win for me. I also appreciate how the game introduces its RPG systems gradually (with full explanation) instead of dumping everything on you at once and expecting you to figure it out. I’ll update this review as I play more, but so far this has been…

This is a game that does not respect player intelligence. It's so worried you'll miss how clever and cool it is that it lays itself out like an instruction manual for the first hour and makes you read every. single. ♥♥♥♥♥♥. word. NO YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO GO HAVE FUN UNTIL I'VE FINISHED TEACHING AT YOU. if you're going to make a tutorial try to space it out so that a player actually gets to play the game, rather than merely pressing buttons when told. Because of games like this, I stopped preordering games. The only cool thing about it was the character creation, everything else is garbage. The gameplay feels clunky and the missions are reminiscent of soulless Ubisoft style filler. Out of frustration because I had already spent a lot of money on it, and out of hope that it would eventually get better, I forced myself to push through to the credits. Well, you learn from your mistakes. Hopefully. 3/10 – Finished, but Extremely Bad You…

I'm literally unable to fathom the myriad of negative comments with like 0.5-1 hours into the game. For me Biomutant gave me a little flashback to my childhood when gaming was about exploration and fun in a setup and atmosphere that has an engaging vibe. Of course, the character customization & stats, the lore & choices and the combat & its balance are all childish, but I kinda feel that its part of the package and fits into the idea this game attempts to implement. Exploration is relaxing,…

Oh yeah, thinking of flawed-but-interesting open world games that people got weird about, I just remembered Biomutant. It was promoted and priced like a AAA game. Then you look at the credits and it's like a 12-person indie studio. And yeah, you're not going to get Ubisoft production values there.

Everything bad you've heard about this game is real: the story is bland, the narrator can be annoying (but you can dial it down), the melee combat is clunky, the missions are kind of repetitive, the puzzles are too simple, the systems are disconnected from each other and not particularly detailed. <A mile wide, an inch deep> is the phrase that you'll read the most when it comes to describe Biomutant. And yet, I can't help but loving it. The world is simply beautiful, navigating it is always…

Biomutant is a sweet surprise. The aesthetic of this post-apocalyptic animal world is something rare and catchy. The gameplay is fun, you will reunite animal tribes across an overpolluted world using a vast selection of skills, magic, wung-fu and handcrafted weapons. Landscapes are AMAZING, i often found myself staring at it, very colorful and brilliant. Combat is easy and a lot of fun, with frequent slow-mo and badasseries. The downside: dialogues. I got this game on sale for ten bucks and it was absolutely worth it. The story is an oddly paced, clunky mess, the combat lacks weight, the graphics are meh, and I absolutely hate the feel of the glider, but there was something really charming about it that got me to lock in and finish one playthrough. If you can catch the game on sale, I'd say go for it.

Not recommended: Biomutant We truly are living in the golden age of gaming. In fact, so many new titles are being released every day that it's pretty much impossible for any one gamer to keep up. Of course, the old 20-80 rule still applies - even with the glut of new releases, finding something worth playing is as challenging as ever. At first glance, Biomutant seemed to fit the bill: a AA open-world ARPG sounds like something I could really sink my teeth in. However, it didn't take too long…

Possibly one of my favorite games of the last few years. Others have complained about the narrator’s voice chiming in regularly; I actually don’t find it to be very annoying. Your mileage may vary, but I find it FAR less irritating than, for comparison, the pawns in Dragon’s Dogma Dark Arisen, who were constantly interjecting with the same phrases verbatim. The narrator here at least says something different every time he speaks, which is regularly, but not incessantly. Every single creature…

The art for the game is quite beautiful, unfortunately that is where the pros end for me. I just could not get into this game. Both the combat and the actual dialogue/role play aspects fell flat. The constant narration is disruptive and feels disconnected from the game, like it's just some guy constantly pulling out out of any immersion to give you a whole bunch of exposition rather than just relying on dialogue between characters and story development to let you immerse yourself and uncover…

This RPG is absolutely addictive in many ways - from combat, to crafting, to exploring the masterfully crafted, beautiful world. Many complaints stem from the "childish" way the mouse speak - but it makes total sense considering they're MICE from a dystopian world where humanity has destroyed it through industrial waste and mismanagement of ecosystems - causing wildlife to become…

This game ought to be rated "E for everyone," because that is the intended audience. Having said that, I don't think it warrants the mixed rating. I think a lot of people were misled about the target audience and expressed that in their reviews. Protip: just change the in-game voices to Korean or Japanese and most of the perceived problems with this game disappear.
