60 of 184 · most liked firstFirst off: I'm going to recommend this game in spite of the very true position being taken by those who have not recommended it. The game has a low player count and even with the addition of bots to pad the servers, its fairly lonely in there (most of the time). However, this is how it shall remain forever if people simply turn away from it. Someone has to pioneer the way for others to follow. Beyond the wire is a truly incredible game. Its not "the hell let loose of WW1"....it's the Squad of…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →give us a free mouth get a lot of players hooked so the game comes back
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Developers abandoned the game years ago without a word. Unfortunate, since its a pretty fun game. Anywhere from 10-40 players meet up every saturday at 10:30am pacific time to play. Otherwise its dead 100% of the time. If devs released the SDK then the community could fix the game's issues themselves then it'd be worth buying.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Yeah, the game's dead, I know. But it's a really good game. Even playing with bots, it's fun. I don't play it more because, again, it's filled with bots, but how is it gonna change? How are we gonna change this? Well, by playing the game. So maybe, if you have it, just download it and play it. When the game is on sale, buy it, get it for your friends. And I think we should play more so we can get this game up and running again! It's really cool, I really hope people start playing "Squad 18"…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Good game at heart, However it is completly dead... Good reason all games should have solo match with bots.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I will forever mourn this damn game. Best World War One game out of all of them. Had so much potential, just never really took off. It's a crying shame.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is sadly dead, during the short time it was alive I managed to sneak into the enemy trench and beat 7 people to death with a club. That was a highlight for me, I wish it wasn't dead.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I really don't get why this game is dead - it definitely deserves more attention and love. Looking forward to see it come back from the dead someday in the future
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →For many years, I dreamed of a proper WW1 milsim. I was an avid player of Squad and Post Scriptum, and although I was a huge fan of Verdun, it just didn't quite feel like much of a milsim. And then, 2020 rolled around, and despite the difficult year that was for all of us, it granted me that wish of a proper WW1 milsim. I cannot express how much of a blast I had spending each and every day I could with that game. And then just as quickly as it appeared, it died. Completely flatlined. I cannot…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →BTW / SQUAD '17 REVIVAL, 2026. BRING IT UP PEOPLE! THIS GAME IS AMAZING, WE JUST GOTTA START PLAYING AGAIN!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beyond the Wire is an amazing game, great graphics, mechanics, probably one of, if not the single best WW1 shooter out there. However Offworld has this insane notion that games should take off by themself, with no advertising or support pre/post launch, I think the success of Squad has convinced them of this. Its truly unfortunate because they have made some incredible games, Starship Troopers, Squad 44, and Beyond the Wire, as of Feb 21 2026 have a combined player count of less than 600.…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Let me tell you a true story. I once had a distant relative who loved saving money. She saved and saved — constantly, religiously. The only problem? She didn’t realize that the country she was saving in was about to collapse. Now this story comes up again and again in the family — whenever we sit in front of that big pile of colorful bills, wondering what could’ve been done with it. And then we put them back. For the next time we need a handy metaphor. The moral? This game looks like a lot of…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish I remembered to write a review sooner. Game was good, although at the present nobody should buy it. Maybe one day it'll get revived like Post Scriptum.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game had potential to be one really good WW1 game, idk what killed it but what a shame.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →why dont we all get together and play this game maybe hold a little events on the weekends to play this for a few hours
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is deader than Franz Ferdinand
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PROS: - The best WWI FPS that I've played to date. - Incredible SFX. - Great visual and historical attention to detail (for the most part). - Immersive, especially when there's other players (I'll get to this in a second). Cons - Where is everyone? I played today (Saturday) with 26 players in a server. During the week, there's only bots. - The bots are a low-effort afterthought. They don't give orders, form sections, build emplacements, etc. - Poorly optimized and the game will…
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beyond The Wire has some genuinely good graphics and a strong sense of realism. The World War I setting feels immersive, and the sound design and atmosphere do a good job making battles feel intense and grounded. Unfortunately, the biggest issue is the lack of a single-player or PvE option. Since the player base is so low, it’s often hard to even find matches, which really hurts the experience. A game like this relies on active players, and without them it feels empty. Good presentation and…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Think i bought the game to late
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is dead dont buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →PLEASE Offworld Industries BUY THIS GAME WE NEED TO REVIVE IT!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →completly dead and abandoned and steam wont even give refunds
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game WAS pretty good, could compare it to that of the likes of Isonzo or Verdun but with a touch of squad or hell let loose in it. There was something about it I really enjoyed when the player count was still there. The menu music gave me the best chills you could ask for. I really did like this game, truly its just a shame its just not what it used to be any more. I CANNOT RECOMMEND THIS GAME ANYMORE DUE TO THE PLAYERBASE JUST NOT EXISTING ANYMORE
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →51 hours played, and they were GOOD hours. Unfortunately the game doesn't have enough players anymore, but Beyond the Wire is a very well made game with great graphics, animations, and intense, competitive fights.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i would rather play this then the squad. why is it so dead?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I WOULD recommend this but there's no players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I wish it were worth the $2.50. It is dead. I mean *dead dead*. 0 people playing at any time. I missed the very short development cycle, but it doesn't feel like a labor of love like Red Orchestra 2 (even RS2), Mordhau, the WW1 Game Series (Verdun, Isonzo) or War of Rights. I don't see any notifications for community events, seasonal events, play-with-the-devs. Some things feel like players should have been able to make suggestions, like the artillery having no button to slow its left-right…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead Game don't buy it. Online Only.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Rest in piss. You were fun for the 2 months you were alive🫡
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Beyond The Cheek The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ nerve to keep this for sale. At first I thought it had to be a joke; surely they were no longer selling Beyond The Wire. I mean, an unfinished game that hasn't seen any content updates for years now. A game where the player-base is non-existent. It just can't be... but lo and behold, they put it on sale (I think it was the summer sale) appealing to trying to increase the player-base; are you taking the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ piss, mate? The developer knows that they're not…
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It looks pretty, but there's no players and the bots aren't real engaging to fight and the gameplay isn't quite there. It's like playing an alternate universe Hell Let Loose if it never took off and died early on.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is certified dead. Do not get tricked by the deep discounts, its not getting revived. Online only, peaking 1 player a day
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →game died so quick i could barely play it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →It had great potantial, and still does if they make it f2p for a while and fix bugs and patch some things. and some marketing can save this game
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This is a great game, if there were anybody in the servers. The game is dead, which is very unfortunate.
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Its Pretty dead and bot are kinda Brain dead
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →please get the game its cheap as dirt and we need to save it :) merry christmas
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →dead game plz dont buy
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →all i ask for is one more day...
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →don't get its dead, but it would be a good game if there was players
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Waiting for the day this game gets renamed to Squad '17. Offworld, Please save this game!
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Another dead WW1 game. Sadly. Beyond The Wire had potential but low player count, slow updates, and lack of long-term support buried it.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →no one playing it anymore
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Dead, buggy abandonware. One of the few Steam purchases I've ever truly regretted.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love this game but sad that they is a low players online the game has ai and they have weekends were 100 people come online probs 1s a month
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Such a cool game but nobody is playing. Very sad
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →I dont think I own this game? Why can I write a review?
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →DEAD AF! Too bad too cause this game has a ton of potential...
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →sh1theads stole our money and we got nothing.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Was a fear jerker when I played it many years ago. It's Unfortunate how it turned out.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →This game is so peak but nobody plays it so uhhhhhhhhhhhhh maybe don't buy it just yet cuz devs need to un abandon it first!!!!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Game is broken, steam won't refund. DO NOT BUY!!
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →great platform, but has been dead for as many years as I've owned it. :( the WWI series struggled with the same problem when I first invested in verdun, still hoping this one will still find enough players to revive. -- I can see on SteamDB that there has been an influx of as many as 20 players on a regular interval of 7 days; is there a group with scheduled games going now? if so please let me know, cuz I want in on that ;)
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →man what a shame, great ww1 game good graphics but dead,, very dead they stopped updates and the player count left and i bout it to late and forgot to get a refund
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →like going to the park and finding out nobody wants to play tag with you
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →its quite sad to see this game discountied
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Back when this game was "still alive", I read a review about 50 man bayonette charges and going over the top. There was, perhaps, one match that felt like it delivered what this game could one day be, with enough development. Alas, the game is completely dead. No development, no players. This game should not be for sale at this point. It is abandon ware, and what's there is nothing without other players.
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →i love the bots but im still waiting for another update in like 2years but yeah its not really worth buying in 2025 BC its dead dead
positive · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Sadly, it’s a dead game. :(
negative · reviewer's own thumbsView post →Underrated so much. This game is so good I don't understand why is it dead
