Just started something new that I'll be sharing on a regular basis. I also have an adorable/annoying kitty called Loppan who may also make regular appearances here
unlabelledView post →This is nothing new. We got this exact take about concurrents dropping after launch for Bad North *checks calendar* just under 8 years ago. I still live comfortably off of revenues from that game. A failure it was not

With previous work on games like Bad North & LittleBIGPlanet, he's now released a free prototype on @itch.io of his new studio's first game! Ready to unfold tomorrow's thread? unlabelledView post →After Little Nightmares, I went indie and made Bad North in Unity with @oskarstalberg.bsky.social. Prior to that I'd done 3 (?) game jams in Unity. Oskar had a fair bit more experience, but only at a hobby level - he'd been using Snowdrop prior. We shipped that in less than 2 years
unlabelledView post →Around a year after Bad North launched, someone posted on twitter that it was obviously a failure because the concurrent player numbers didn't reach an arbitrary threshold. Like, why do I care? It's a single player game

unlabelledView post →31. Bad North - I’m not a strategy game kinda guy (they always feel like work to me) but Bad North’s minimalism pulled me in. A fabulous game, also available on mobile.
unlabelledView post →I finished Inscryption last night and have downloaded a couple of games the last few days that I'm yet to try out but I've also been loving Bad North as a pick up/put down game
unlabelledView post →It's a little less cozy, but I absolutely love Bad North. It's a little "real time" (you can pause at any time and plan moves) strategy game about defending little Nordic islands. I also adore Cataclismo as a city building / tower defense game.
unlabelledView post →I love Bad North! Such a charming game 🥰
unlabelledView post →This is a good deal if just for SKALD and Bad North both great games: SKALD: OG Ultima-like with modern conveniences Bad North: Interesting real-time strategy game with a limited but effective focus
unlabelledView post →sounds promising. probably not the same game type but reminds me of Bad North, where you have to build up armies to defend islands against Viking hordes. if you don't know that game, it would probably give you some good influences, especially in strategic unit/skill management.
unlabelledView post →Really?! 🤣 I have no idea why I assumed that this was like a tower defense kind of game. 😂 Or maybe like Bad North. Bad North is a game I played a bit of and it was so nice. You place soldier units to defend islands but it's done in a pretty relaxing manner. Very simple but lovable game.
unlabelledView post →youtu.be/98joBDMf6lQ The most difficult island I played so far in #BadNorth. Are levels automatically generated in this game? So I can't see how others beat this level?

unlabelledView post →Tomorrow I'll be doing a write up on a game I've enjoyed far more than I was expecting. Bad North. Even though I have the game on PS Plus, I will definitely be buying it out of respect for the creators for making such a quality game and making it DRM Free. Seen some bad reviews:
unlabelledView post →Okay so last night I started #RiftRiff and you know what? It's wonderful. Its a 'rogue-light' tower defense game from the guy who made *Hidden Folks*. Now normally a tower defense game wouldn't ignite my fire if you know what I mean, no sir. However this is forgiving enough (it really respects my time) that failure doesn't feel like a chore in the slightest. It's also super cute and each round takes like 2 minutes top. Runs superbly well on the deck and its totally scratching the itch that…
unlabelledView post →Back to Bad North, we now sell few copies at full price, but on discount we get sales spikes, with corresponding spikes in demo DAUs and wishlists adds. But, there's still a decent amount of demo players and wishlist generation between spikes, which makes me think the demo is still doing its job 7/8
unlabelledView post →Bad North is a bad example as it's old now (pre-dates the pandemic). But we added a Steam demo after launch and saw increased reviews and sales. Critically, we *stopped* seeing our review score take a hit during discounts - the demo was filtering out some people who did not enjoy the game 2/8
unlabelledView post →Oh yeah also the core gameplay is just a worse version of Bad North, I wouldn't recommend this game for that.
unlabelledView post →Thank you for sharing! I always love reading what you have to say about games and I love how many different kinds you try. My husband uses Bad North as a game when he plays in handheld mode (he has it on Switch) and really enjoys it on the go.
unlabelledView post →Played Bad North today: it's a troop management roguelite where you are invading randomly generated islands to escape the encroaching darkness. You can level up your commanders, find new skills, and unearth treasures to help you. Did one run, ready for more! www.trueachievements.com/game/Bad-Nor...

unlabelledView post →Finally managed to beat #BadNorth this evening. As a roguelike, it doesn't really work. There's not enough depth or variety, and a single mistake will ruin your 3 hour-long campaign. If you turn on save scumming, however, you're free to experiment and learn from your mistakes. Turns out video games are far more fun when they aren't excessively punishing.
unlabelledView post →This evening I played a charming indie game called #BadNorth. You have to defend various islands with these little groups of Vikings that bob about with bows and swords. It's technically a roguelike, but there's an option that lets you replay any mission if things go wrong. Very considerate!
